Yeah, that is true. I think it's more a combination of the things i mentioned. At least when the music is simple and easy to follow or in a familiar style or structure or the user, the serious themes go down easier. But when they are coupled with the other stuff i mentioned, people may get exhausted listening to it?

Yeah, probably a few factors there, but what stands out to me is that the new songs are over produced and complicated. They're also highly emotionally presented and delve into serious themes. This makes them very hard to digest, especially for the casual market. I personally love them but i can acknowledge these traits.

Can someone enlighten me, why would the band leak something when they have the means to just release it officially? Is there another entity in charge of their music releases? My guess is the original vinyl had both songs and thats where they leaked from. It was close to the release date of that vinyl too.

I got the impression the general is primarily from axl's perspective during that time, where monsters is moreso about his mum's lack of comforting efforts about the situation. Like "i was there for you, it was all i could do. Well its over now" (stop dwelling on it, i did the best i could) kind of thing - with axl being displeased at his mum's disinterest to ackowledge it her fault.
