I'd put rock the rock top of the pile... and I'm not even being one insincere there😂 As far as Andrew Watt goes, he got a half decent album out of Ozzy Patient no 9... the other one did nothing for me. The RS record isn't my cup of tea and I haven't heard the PJ record yet... but I can of know his MO and the style/sound of record he tends to make and I just imagine it would sound like 10 Hardskools which would be best 6/10. I think we can wish for better while we're dreaming.

It's never coming out without Slash. If that happened it would signal the beginning of the end for Slash's current time in gnr. They don't need it to continue selling tickets, that's well proven... They need it to make themselves more of a relevant act. Historically speaking they need a song/record that says we're back and we can still go. The tracks they released scream "we don't need to release music and we don't care that this is not great".

Could be, but the feel changes would need to be completely reworked and re-recorded. Way too sharp a turn so they sound like two different songs jammed together. It's not that there isn't some decent material there, it's that they've released 4 average to poor songs, and none of what's left is going to hit a higher mark. Back to the drawing board and tap the remaining vein with flowing creativity and write a great song. At this point they need at least one great song stemming from the reunion.

In terms of songwriting there's a clear winner. 1. I'm just Ken. Fleshed out lyrics, great vocal performance, interesting backing track. 2. Killing Floor - Just a classic song, my favourite version being Zeppelins, but I just love the lyric and the riff is fantastic, I also think it's the most memorable Slash solo since the WOF record. 3. Perhaps - Decent vocal with more memorable melody, I like the feel of the song, solo is frustratingly bleh... but the song is good. 4. Hardskool - Better solos, the vocal is fine but why did he decide to repeat the lyrics so many times, surely he could have come up with some variations OR just added variation in how he sang the lyric. REALLY brings the quality of the song down. Obviously not an A tier riff either. And the slide solo section is absolutely surplus to requirements, somebody needs to hide Slash's slide and while they're at it sell his pedal steel🤣 5. Absurd - Backing track would be an 8/10 if it wasn't for that pointless atmospheric breakdown section. Vocal??? what more can be said. it's really not the worst thing I've heard but it's really not something I want to listen to and I'll listen to almost any GNR song. Guitar solos had some great energy that reminded me of a younger Slash with some fire in him. 6. The General - just disappointing. Lyrically it obviously has some substance, but musically it dies on its ass. Vocal melody choices are bizarre, the riffs are completely throwaway. The song doesn't build it just stays in the same gear. I firmly believe GNR need to shelve the remainder of the Chinese tracks (Monster, State of Grace, Atlas etc. and any of the others). They just don't work. Only sensible foot forward approach is fresh material and hire and listen to a producer that has a track record of rescuing bands lost at sea. That used to be Rick Rubin, not sure who it is now (not Andrew Watt).

Reading between the lines with what Slash has said, these tracks were Axls idea and Slash viewed it as a vehicle to get to a proper new record. They almost definitely wanted to go in and make a record and Axl pushed the breaks wanting to get these songs released first. I'm guessing the GNR engines will start revving up towards the end of this year... I'd assume there's going to be more touring before they contemplate a record, but I'd like to believe what Slash said was going to materialise, I guess he's free from about September assuming he doesn't book more shows.

Me too. 8 pound, 6 ounce, newborn infant Axl, don't even know a word yet, just a little infant and so cuddly, but still omnipotent. That or Axl singing lead vocals with Skynrd just wailing

I'm sure there's fans of Buckethead that would dispute this to the hilt. But all I will say is there's a difference between sterile and proficient, Bucket, Bumble, Guthrie etc who can play anything they record at any time. they practiced guitar in a different way to guys like Slash or Jimmy Page who aren't always able to fully capture the idea they lay down in the studio. Both styles are great. Sometimes I listen to the other side and think it needs a little more sloppiness and vice cersa

I know Slash does a whole lot more of this stuff from Lenny/Michael to present day, my point was that Axl isn't against doing things. It's probably less about principles and more of not always receiving the opportunity. And of course sometimes the opportunity might be given but he actually just doesn't want to do it, which I'm sure even happened to Slash (maybe once) The last part wasn't meant for you specifically, I just didn't want to make two different comments😄

Axl attended the vmas in 2006 or 7 presenting to the killers. He also did that god awful Budweiser commercial. He isn't above doing what Slash does. Also this argument of what is and isn't rock n roll... Come on🙄 grab yourself a sense of humour, the performance was funny and really well done regardless of liking the song.

I think bumbles fretless riff made the title track so much better, definitely gave it some swagger which the others didn't have.

Amazing the difference in promotion and strategy with Slash vs GNR. If you miss that Slash is releasing something you are either actively avoiding it or have completely checked out... With gnr you could be an active listener and have no idea they've released anything recently...some could argue 20yrs

Is this legit? If Slash is aware that 'all things considered is a joke' 🤣🤣🤣 that would make my day! Tracks grown on me more, I kinda like that Slash decided not to saturate his sound, his playing is really tight considering how almost clean the sound is! Brian has such a charm to him, infectiously happy! Gotta love the guy!

The guitar solo had some cool licks, he's been listening to a few country players for sure! Brian sounds good. Track doesn't have a lot of energy though, not that it should be crushing, but it just feels a little flat (on first listen). Need to listen to it more though!

I thought all the questions with regard to Brain were answered? Not in a statement but Instagram responses etc. I am pretty positive it was confirmed that brain played drums on all the released tracks not Frank. Possible that Frank recorded some things like he did on Chinese though like a chorus here or a fill there. Definitely not out of realms of possibility but for sure Slash confirmed the drums/vocal were kept from the original recordings.

Oh yeah of course there's plenty of solos and riffs that are purposefully not perfectly tuned. I'm more talking about how he was for example playing NR for the first few years or when he tries to bend on his double neck. You know what he's going for but it's not quite in tune. End of the day it's live and mistakes happen I'm not scolding him... Although it is a bit criminal how often he overshoots the runway given he claims to play all the time (just like Kirk Hammett)... But I digress😄 And well you can ask the question, let it float out there and still go 🤷‍♂️ and carry on with your day. For me I guess it's just how I was schooled but everything is up for discussion even personal taste, why someone likes something you don't might just make you listen again and appreciate something you missed or couldn't appreciate because you were stuck in the "this is the right way 👊" mentality... And likewise explaining your reasons for disliking might make them as equally cynical about music in the future. Win win😁

Well there are measurable things. Like if he's bending out of tune etc. that's not really debatable when we know what he was actually trying to do because we've heard the original thousands of times. It's not about questionable taste though, but I do think some fans are so into the band that they choose to overlook the flaws... So there is some wilful dishonesty there, we've seen it for years before Slash came back too. Anyway I think we're basically on the same page as in each to their own.

Yeah I'd agree with most of those examples! He definitely turns it on and off. But I think a lot of it is boredom and him trying to stretch out, sometimes that's good and sometimes like Yesterday's it's hard to listen to because the original idea was SO much better

Well no and yes, I would question anyone's objectivity if they said something I completely disagree with, but I also appreciate anyone can have a different taste which might sound contradictory. I just see a lot of people who say these things and even when they try and say something negative it's always smoothed off with "but it's Slash, just enjoy watching/listening to a legend" which is is completely not objective. Everybody is capable of good ideas and bad ideas, including Slash. Perhaps solo = not so great idea. For some they will love it, but for others they'll hear it and think "that one was phoned in"... I'm obviously the latter😄 Like what you like though, I'm thankfully not an authority on what everybody should like/dislike

I think had there been a few of those bends and then it arrived on a solid idea then it would be cool, I just don't think it ever really landed on solid idea.... Unless the idea was to not have anything hooky in it. I've listened to that song at least 50 times and cannot recall the solo other there's some low bends in it. I don't really enjoy it, but it's rare for any solo to please everyone. And I think Slash has lost a step.

I appreciate that they said it was great, but for me it's not. So of course their opinion is valid, but I'm just curious what it is that would be considered bad coming from Slash. Does such a thing exist?

I don't know if anyone can listen to his solo on perhaps and honestly call it great... Acceptable? That's even a stretch. He hasn't been playing awfully he just hasn't been playing memorably.
