  1. Question, serious one here that I'd like peoples opinions on, say you meet a bird, get on like a house on fire etc She's alright with you and everything but a condition of being together is you've gotta knock the boozin' on the head...like completely, forever. What would you do?

No, I would never give up drinking  I mean, I understand if you're an alcoholic, someone who can't possibly drink one or two glasses, but always has to go all out and has a drinking problem. I understand your girlfriend would demand you'd stop drinking altogether. But other than that? If you're just a social drinker who likes a glass now and then and might on occasion be drunk (and not drive!!)? No.

Why would she demand you stopped drinking altogether, if I may ask?

I know some teetotallers myself, mostly people who've had to live with alcoholists and choose to abstain for that reason. But they don't ask their partners to quit drinking altogether, even if they witnessed first hand how alcohol can ruin your life, so even if I know teetotallers, I've never come across anyone who'd forbid his/her partner to drink alcohol. I could see they wouldn't want their partner to drink themselves under the table each weekend, but total abstinence? No.

  2. So... at 2:30pm UK time, I'm getting married today.

Just sat here in my dress waiting for the time to come along. :)

Congratulations! I haven't talked with you in a while, now. I was just thinking of trying to contact you today or tomorrow. Guess that won't be happening! I forgot when the wedding date was. Congrats to you and hubby! Oh, and have fun tonight, you good little Catholic girl ;-)

So this was an entire year ago.

    Congrats, Gracii and Mr Guns!

  3. I'd never heard one before I moved where we live now, kind of in the middle of nowhere (in Flanders). Ours comes round once a week, but I've no experience with him, never given or sold anything to him.

  4. What does the actual narration say?

No one thought rock would live this long... and that there'd be no retirement for rockstars. That's why there's costumes... that don't fit too well with old age. Hum. Would you let your grandmother date Ron Wood? The show must go on... but okay. One word of advice to the young starting out in rock. Do what Jack White did: go for an old look. 'You'll be all ready for 2050.'

    Or something similar.

  5. The kodak photos come from the personal collection of Slash's brother, not sure whether this means he is the seller though.

If he is the seller this puts a damper on reunion rumours as surely they'd be worth more once the original band were back in the public eye, so why sell now?

Might be nothing to do with him of course.

I think Marc sold some stuff for Slash's brother last year, or maybe two years ago, so I wouldn't be surprised if it was him selling some stuff again. Maybe he just needs money again :shrugs:

  6. I honestly don't understand why Phil Collins gets so much shit.

People like Robbie Williams or Kanye West or *take your pick* are celebrated yet a bloke who was (is?) a fantastic singer and drummer who wrote and produced his own shit is ridiculed.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a huge fan or anything but his work on Peter Gabriel III/Melt alone earns him my respect.

I think you'll find 90% of sane people think Robbie Williams and Kanye are cunts too  Kanye is someone who has made, according to certain ears, i think possibly deaf ones, good music but personality-wise, even the people who acclaim him or afford him the platform to shoot his mouth off in interviews think he's a massive cunt, the looks of bemusement and often disgust are clear to see. And Robbie Williams, celebrated? What, the fat dancer from Take That? He weren't respected in his day let alone now!

You leave Robbie alone, Lenny! :max:

  7. I liked the poppier Collins fronted version of Genesis over the Gabriel edition. It's just what I grew up with. This was my JAM when I was, six years old:

Ugh, one of the worst songs all time. I will not forgive you for putting it into my head again, even if I haven't heard it fot 20 years.

I'm sorry Phil chose to come out of retirement :(

  8. I have a milestone birthday next spring, to cheer me up celebrate I'm going away. Three nights, no kids, flying from UK. Where shall I go?

Amsterdam ;) I'll meet you there. Or you could hop over to Antwerp and I'll buy you a drink for your birthday.

Maybe an island in the sun is more alluring though :(

  9. So, Antwerp yesterday. First of all, I got in without having my ticket checked, by accident. I suddenly found myself inside and saw all these people having wristbands. I didn't have any, obviously, so I asked about it and they told me where to get it. Got it without showing my ticket.

Anyway, we stood at the e-stage. We had a sideways view of the huge screens, which was alright, and when they were on the e-stage, we were obviously quite closeby, so I liked where we were. I hadn't heard any of the new songs and wasn't overwhelmed by the opening of the show. In 2001 they opened with Elevation, and I really loved that, so I was a bit disappointed at the start as I didn't think this opener was as powerful.

The setlist was quite similar to what I've seen in this thread. We got Sweetest Thing, that's the only song I think wasn't on these last pages anyway. Other than that, I think the setlist was identical to the one in Torino. Which was fine by me.

I was a bit annoyed by Bono and all his messages. Maybe it's me, but I could've done without the 'Ireland needs truth and reconciliation, everywhere needs truth and reconciliation', 'refugees welcome', or 'with all the feelings in this room, I know there's not a problem in the world we can't solve'.

I was impressed with the setup, the stage and the screens. It looked great. I really liked that, so all in all, I had a fun night. If they're still around in ten years time, I'll go again :)

    EDIT: setlist:

    The Miracle (Of Joey Ramone)
The Electric Co. / Send In The Clowns (snippet) / I Can See For Miles (snippet)
Vertigo / God Save The Queen (Sex Pistols) (snippet)

    Iris (Hold Me Close)
    Cedarwood Road
    Song For Someone
    Sunday Bloody Sunday
Raised By Wolves / Psalm 23 (snippet)
Until The End Of The World / Love And Peace Or Else (snippet) / Words (snippet)

    (Intermission - The Fly)

    Invisible
Even Better Than The Real Thing
Mysterious Ways / Burning Down The House (snippet)

    Encore:

    City Of Blinding Lights
    Beautiful Day
Mother And Child Reunion (snippet) / One / Invisible (snippet)

  10. I know that nobody read this anymore because it's a pretty tragic tale of rejection and self-loathing. As my guest lecturing at the college today went really well, consider me pursuing a tutoring career until that door shuts. Will next update this when I actually get a job offer.

Thanks for waiting. GNR fans are the best at waiting. ;) and we're going to have the biggest party when I am finally employed again, aren't we?

I'm glad it went well, Gracii!

I'd like it if you kept us posted about your job/career hunting though :(

I hope you're not leaving the career you want for good though. I'm in a pretty bad and insecure branche myself, but wouldn't want it any other way. I tried something more sensible for a few years, but kept on freelancing in the mean time and I'm so happy I did, as the sensible job didn't satisfy me and after a few years, I was able to do my other career fulltime again. If I'd stopped freelancing during those years, I doubt I would have rolled in again like I did now. It's still insecure and I'll never be rich, but I can pay the bills and I'm doing what I love. Work is such a huge part of life that it's such a good feeling (and a luxury) you can do something you enjoy.

  11. That's journalism dude. They will always use the worst pic the find when that's the topic. Just don't know why they use a pic of Jonny Depp. He still is one of the coolest looking dude's in Hollywood.

Hm, yes, there's many goodlooking people in it, but they say in the introduction that Johnny Depp looks like he hasn't aged at all. They just single out Axl as the worst, really.

I don't think he's that bad at all, though this picture obviously is. Like you say, they always use the worst pics. You can take awful pictures of anyone really. It's just the cool thing to do to use Axl's worst pic. Losers.

  12. Why does anyone choose to have a baby?

Tonight I learned that during labour, they cut the area between your Mrs. Foofy and your bum hole.

On top of all the other gross situations involving bodily fluids, sweating and getting fat (as well as a baby passing through Mrs. Foofy). Surely people are aware of this before they decide to stop contracepting?

Then it's having a screaming, money-sucking baby causing sleepless nights. I'm genuinely interested to hear from parents what makes all of it worthwhile?

I used to think just like you. But cutting is better than tearing. A friend of mine had a full rupture, so that was pretty bad, all because they didn't cut. If they cut, it's only a small incision, to prevent from tearing, because that heals much more slowly, and if you have a full rupture, you might have serious health problems afterwards.

Like I said, I was pretty scared about it all, but I never felt the cut, I saw the doctor stitch it up afterwards, but then you're all high because you just had your baby and it doesn't matter at all.

It did hurt a few days when I sat down, but that's all really. It healed really quickly. Don't let that little cut stop you from having a baby. I know I'm a bit peculiar, but giving birth was by far the most intense, beautiful, incredible experience in my life. (FYI, I did have an epidural. Would recommend.)

It's the part that starts after the birth that can be much more terrifying, frustrating and tiring, but so overwhelming, lovely and intense as well

  13. Use your illusion tour was a memory for me...In that 1992 I had 21(I am Bosnia Serb) and styding philosophy in Sarajevo. In february 1991 I met Mirza(Bosnia muslim) and she became my girlfrined ,my first and biggest love...In summer We were on Guns show in Budapest. After that she went to Sarajevo and I was went in my parents city Banja Luka 140km from Sarajevo, for a couple days.Six days later I was Mobilised in Serbian army. The war started.I lost my concats with Mirza.I sent letters her and she sent letters to me.That was only way to had a concat. In 1993 war was across the Bosnia and I lost concat with Mirza.I can not forget when.she singing "don't cry in Budapest" and she was on my arms...When war finished 1995 I tried to make contact with Mirza. In january 1996 I got information She was dead.Murdered by snipe in april 1994.

Now I have 46 and have 3 kids. But I have necer forget Mirza and our last days on Guns show in Budapest. For me Guns is something more than music. And UYI tour was the best time for me.

Such a sad story. A beautiful memory though.

I didn't buy the UYI's straight away. I bought UYI II for my cousin's birthday and copied it for myself on cassette before giving it to her. I copied UYI I from a friend. Shortly after, I bought UYI II, because that was the one I loved most at the time. I had all GNR albums copied on cassette before buying the cd's.

  14. Just another pretext to bash Iran and the muslims in general. It's propaganda, and Axl Rose hasn't got anything better to do than helping to spread that propaganda. It's stupid.

Politically correct bullshit. That's the problem, you can't name any problems without being called a racist or bashing islam or whatever. If there's something wrong (a woman being inferior to a man obviously is), you should be allowed to say that.

Like Amir said, I'm sure there's plenty of people in Iran that have a problem with it.

  15. Thanks Lio!

I didn't ask what he preferred about the other guy, I will do on Friday though. It can often be a personality thing (which is the worst aspect of interviews because you can't change personality to suit someone else).

Nor should you have to. Ultimately if they don't believe you will fit their culture, would you prefer they ignored their gut feeling and you started work in an environment that was completely unsuitable for your morals and social qualities?

You'd end up very unhappy, and that's the positive to look at - you've probably avoided a job you'll end up hating.

I've never once been told my personality wouldn't fit in the company. Likewise I've never applied for a job where I felt the company would be unsuitable for my morals and social qualities. I wonder what strange personality you have, Gracii  Just kidding, but I don't believe that's common here, that you don't get a job because your personality doesn't fit. Is it even possible to assess that so quickly, after one interview?

That said, I've been selfemployed for a few years now :shrugs:

Either way, it does suck if you don't get the job for personality reasons. I feel like it's kind of a cop out too. It doesn't really help you and there's really not a lot you can say to that.

  16. My interview went perfectly, but he told me that there's one other guy he thought he'd be offering the role to. I am better skilled and have more experience than him. The other guy gets a second interview on Friday, and depending on how that goes, I'll hear if I get another interview or not.

It's a shame, there's nothing I could have done to be first in line.

Other than the two of us, all the other applicants just got phone interviews. I've been doing this so long, where it's always the same story; interviewers always say how impressed they are, and tell me that I'm far better than other applicants, and then something happens so the job goes to the other guy or doesn't exist anymore.

So odd. Did you ask him why he'd be offering the job to the other guy if you were the better choice overall? Seems so weird.

Anyway, I hope he sucks on Friday and you get the job after all :)

  17. That's crazy. To think there are women who aren't ashamed to say: I only had sex with him because I thought he was a stock broker and it was his house. And even say that out loud in a court of law? Surely that's not feminist?

I agree with Kittiara, it makes light of the awful, devastating crime a rape is, and if it is indeed being recognized more and more in the US, I think it's an appalling evolution and all the women involved and their lawyers should be shot on sight. Well, not really, but I hate how silly lawsuits and sleazy lawyers make a mockery out of the justice system for personal gain.

  18. Hm, let's replace 'cops' by 'black men' and 'black men' by 'white men'.

Black men kill dozens of white men every year, I'm not going to cry because a white man killed a fuckin' black.

    Quote

3 more blacks were shot this week.

    The more, the better.

    A.B.A.C.

Would that post be okay too?

  19. I always loved that snippet, especially Izzy at the end.

Can someone explain or provide a proper translation for this part though? It doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me:

Guns N 'Roses opened the show of Iron Maiden and, according to Dickinson, Axl Rose would have told the public that the Maiden was only the main attraction because he spoke French.

    ???

Hm, my French isn't that good, but I understood it different. The French paper says:

Guns N’Roses jouait alors en première partie d’Iron Maiden et, selon Dickinson, Axl Rose s’en serait pris à des spectateurs parce qu’ils lui parlaient en français.

My interpretation would be more like Alternative Nation's:

Dickinson humorously recalled wanting to hit Axl Rose at the Quebec Coliseum. He said Guns N’Roses came on first, and according to Dickinson, he wasn’t happy with Axl Rose’s response to the crowd due to them speaking to him in French.

I'm sure there are French speaking posters here that could help us out.

  20. Made what Facebook official? Whats facebook official? What are you talking about, thats half a sentence, have you been hanging around with Snakes?

I assume he means she changed her Facebook status into 'in a relationship with ZoSoRose'. Jesus, you are getting old, Lenny!
