    Question for all -

I'm not a hardcore fan of any other band. Do hardcore fans of other bands behave like hardcore GNR fans? Do they hoard material? I alway thought fandom was supposed to be a communal experience. This is why sporting events and concerts can be so enjoyable. People who are passionate about the same things getting to share in that passion.  Not meaning to criticize anyone I'm just genuinely curious.

I consider myself as a massive Oasis fan but not a hardcore fan. Anyway, hoarding stuff is known very well to Oasis fans as well.

But in 2018 happened a miracle nobody ever dreamed of:

For 20 years the holy grail to all Oasis fans have been the stripped down demos for Oasis’s  (overproduced and blown) 1997 album Be here Now which Noel Gallagher recorded during his holiday on Mustique island. There have been tons of myths and stuff about these demos. What was for sure was that  very few elite fans (hoarder) had a copy and teased/tortured the fan community for years with shitty cell phone snippets, photos of the demo tapes etc. just like its happening in here for the last two days regarding the Chinese demos. But regarding the Mustique demos it wasn’t for days, it was for years.

Not only this: Problem was, Noel Gallagher hates Be here Now, avoids playing songs of this record at his gigs for the last 15 years, excluded the album tracks from every compilation etc.

Hence, no hope for the casual fans to ever hear those legendary demos which must be 1000times better than the final album what all people stated who were entitled enough to have a listen. Even the band members said the demos were better than the final album, just like Slash says about the first Illusion mixes

Next bummer was that 2017 past and there was no 20th anniversary rerelease of Be Here Now like there was in 2014 and 2015 regarding the previous albums Definitely Maybe and Morning Glory.

AND THEN: In 2018 out of nowhere there it was, a massive anniversary edition of Be here Now including the ALL Mustique demos on a separate CD/Vinyl in proper quality with detailed liner notes and so on!!!

This was Noel/Oasis‘s present to their fans after they noticed what they really want.

I'll try to put pieces of my memory together :)

yes, there are some of the DAT tapes floating for years publicly - like the "Ruffs with new Slash guitar" or "Q-mixes", maybe a few more (remember there are some bootlegs with unknown source - like Axl's Advance Copy - these probably must have originated from DAT tapes like this).

I think it was last year when some DAT tapes surfaced, and someone bought them and just showed the labels with tracklist. I actually think those were two or three separate cases, in one case the tapes turned out to be fake but the inserts seemed legit, in other case(s) the tapes were real. so or so, all those so far were various UYI mixing tapes, mostly very different or almost like the album mixes.

now some more DAT tapes surfaced, not only UYI but also AFD mixing tapes. some of them have already been bought and are floating somewhere (not publicly), some are still for sale - I don't have direct link to the auction, can't be bothered to care about AFD mix tape which is more or less the same as album mix, for $750 per tape :)

but there are some indications that these might be shared at some point - of course the most important word there is "might be".

Out of likes: Thank you very much:-)

well these are not "old" - they are "newly surfaced" and unreleased - yet.

Oh. I thought we are talking the ones which are online for years (Q-mixes and stuff). Didn’t check the details of the Dat tapes shown in your picture. But didn’t you say there are already tons if these on the internet?

Sorry for being confused after 50 pages of mayhem :-)

I've probably said this 10,000 times since I started visiting boards in 2002: It is absolutely astounding to me that this band absolutely refuses to sell their fans new material.

We should NEVER been in a situation where threads like this exist, yet these threads are more the norm and literally the only thing the fan base has to look forward to. All because the band just plain refuses to release art for their fan base to give them money for.

    Indeed.

Personally I have zero interest in any leaks of these 15 cds because I have zero emotional connection with New GNR. But nevertheless, if those tracks are leaked, I am happy for all of you who have interest and furthermore I am happy for myself because its a massive kick in Axl‘s/TB‘s ass (Schadenfreude). If these guys are not able to satisfy their fans, the fans have to give joy to themselves.

To set it straight: In no way I support stealing an artists music and/or leak it right before its official release and stuff. But this is something completely different, at least in my eyes. I could explain this in an endless post but I think most of you don’t need an explanation of my view.

  5. This thread is the final evidence that GNR/TB totally fucked it up.

In no fuckin way there would be such excitement because of a three second clip or a possible leak of some old New GNR/CD era tracks if there would be at least any sign for any near future release of the current line up.

    Instead they giving us shitty toy trucks, t o y  t r u c k s!!!

This band is becoming as embarassing to follow as Kiss.

    No.

Difference No 1 is that Kiss from day one released tons of all kind of merch you can imagine. GNR starts now, this means 25 years after their heyday.

Difference No 2 is that Kiss did not stop to release music beside their merch craziness. GNR stopped 25 years ago (ok, stop beating me ... 10 years ago).

Normally I couldn't care less about getting remastered and remixed albums, but a new UYI would be of interest because I happen to think the mixing and mastering on the original is crap. There's something about the tone of the guitars that sucks, it's too polished yet muddy and undefined compared to AFD. Even the punk rawness of LLAS is better than the tone of the rockers on UYI. Axl sounds like he is rambling with a peg over his nose on a lot of the fast rockers on UYI.

Plus some of them could be arranged better. Like, the vocals begin soon as the main riff kicks in on Right Next Door To Hell, but they should let the riff breathe for a few bars first before the vocals join in. That's how the songs work on AFD. And don't get me started on November Rain, terrible arrangement. The end part with Slash's 'solo' is just the same 4 bars repeated over and over. Estranged is amazing though, as is Civil War, Locomotive, Coma and the Garden. The rest of the songs are just filled if I'm honest.

You could be mine a filler?!

Absolutely! How did that Appetite for Democracy dvd/cd get released?? For a bloke who's incredibly fussy about what he/GNR release I'm still not sure how that one got through!

😂 I have every single official release of GNR and related in my collection. Dude, I even bought the Dizzy Reed solo album on vinyl and also got the Matt Sorum solo album on CD.

BUT: To date I wasn’t strong enough to buy the Appetite for Democracy CD/DVD. And I have zero intention to ever buy this thing. This release stands for everything I hate on „GNR“. 😂

As soon as GNR got really huge in the 90s Izzy bailled. What exactly has he done since then in terms of major recording and touring. ?

Slash had SMCK, Axl had the Chinese tour and the Vegas residences + a live album ,Duff had Loaded and whatever  else he had going on. Hell you can even say Adler has been way more active touring and released a solo record of his own.

Do you have mistaken our two Indiana boys Axl and Izzy?!

Since the 90ies Izzy has realased 10 or 11 full length studio albums and several singles! Hence, he has released more records than any other member of the AFD5, especially Mr. W. Axl Rose. This is exactly what Izzy has done since the 90ies (you asked for it)

I personally by far prefer musicians which release lots of music without touring (so called recording artists) than „musicians“ who tour a lot celebrating music they released 30 years ago, especially if this touring artists can’t sing anymore.

What are you expecting? Remember Fernando refered to Shadow of your love as "their new single" and it was released 30 years ago, same for the demos

I do remember Fernandos ridiculous „brand new single“ quote very good. In fact this specific quote was my personal ultimate  „fuck off TB“ moment.

BUT: This thread is not about what I am expecting to be included in the box. It’s about what I wish to be included. The title of this thread clearly reads „wishlist“. And I don’t wish any stuff already released.

I rather won’t even think about what I have to expect from the box if there even is one at all.

That would be awesome, but it needs to be 2 pro shots shows. One from 1991 with Izzy when they had rare setlist and where playing UYI songs before the album got released and one pro shot from the 1993 skin n bones tour to get the acustic set. (Im not asking for the 1992 show cuz we already have Tokyo).

However the freddy mercury show and some other bonuses would be great like a VMA performance with Elton John or whatever. It would be nice to have all the official videos too.

There already is an official blu ray version of the Freddie Tribute show.

Don’t get me wrong. Its a great show. But why waste any space of the box with stuff which has been released for ages?!

Give me footage which no one has seen to date.
