  1. Great Work, @SoulMonster and @Blackstar! Thank you so much!

I know it’s off topic but I just scrolled through your Song Archive and learnd that Down on the Farm allegedly has been performed 11 times 😳 This is new to me. I always thought it was only played once at Farm Aid. However, I am only into classic GNR and a bit NITL GNR.

My guess is that the other performances are by New GNR between 2000 and 2015, correct?

As far as Slash & Duff go, it seems to me that they are are only involved with GN'R for the paycheck. So my guess is that neither of them couldn't care less how TB handle GN'R business as long as they get their regular pay check.

Seems absolute plausible. In fact this is pretty much how Matt quotes Slash in his book. Allegedly, in terms of NITL-GNR Slash has stated „Its just a gig“.

Taking Fernando aside here.....what is there that keeps people interested in GNR? I have no idea anymore. For me, its a lifetime habit- my favourite band since being a teenager, been so long now etc. But I'm struggling now.

There's the vague (and for me, diminishing daily) hope that new material is on it's way I suppose. But really, what keeps people interested other than that? A morbid fascination of some sort maybe? An ' I can't believe what they've done now.....' thing?

I'm genuinely intrigued as to what keeps other people interested now.

    Totally agree.

Seriously, I dont know why I am still here on a daily basis. I think this whole GnR thing is like a daily TV show which has become worse and worse during the years but you still turn it on because you are kind of addicted to the characters and/or so used to them.

I'll send you the Mates rehearsal soon.

Is it the studio instrumental version of Locomotive like the one from Estranged? I always thought these were the exact versions finally released on UYI, just without vocals. I didn’t know Steve did the drumming on these instrumentals.

Or am I wrong and there is another version of Locomotive?  If so, I would be very happy to hear it :-)

I hear ya, trust me. I'm the first guy to say "vote with your wallet" when it comes to GN'Rs bullshit. I also already own every song on this set on vinyl.

However.......I'm a total completionist. I just am. I'm not happy about it, but that's how I work lol.

For example; I have all 15 Pink Floyd studio records on vinyl. Plus I have their live albums. I still bought several of their hits packages though, just to be complete.

I totally realize that makes no sense, but it doesn't make sense to still be a fan of GN'R to begin with lol.

Russ, I totally get where you are coming from and agree with nearly everything you said on this forum 😄 But please don’t let me down and don’t buy this shit. 😉😄

As you do I got thousands of records and in the past I considered my self as a „completionist“ when it comes to a lot of bands in the past. But when I got older I came to a point where I asked myself more often do I really need this?! I know, sometimes its hard to not pull the trigger. For me it’s even harder when it comes to GNR, my „first real love“ which kinda still lasts after 30 years like an old marriage 😄 See, I was one of the idiots who bought the L&L box on its release day and guess what: I hardly opened the box three times since then 😄

After this whole L&L shit I promised myself I will never ever spent a cent on GNR product unless its a quality realease and its reasonably priced. And this Greatest Hits LP isn’t .

Instead of spending 40€ on this crap I will support young bands and buy three cool albums with fresh and new music by them, maybe even nice DIY releases.

By the way: Do you really own all GNR releases? All original EPs, all 12“ and all 7“? I do not. I still do miss some and will e.g. rather spent 20€ on a mint 1991 YCBM 12“ than 40€ on a shitty 2020 Greatest hits album.

Please dont get this post as an offend. I highly expect you to know how it’s meant. 😃

  6. I think you guys are reading too much into it. Axl was offstage before Bruce and it seems like Bruce just wanted to follow Axl quickly. Whilst doing this he had a smile on his face. I think he really enjoyed the performance but thought the whole event wasn’t the right setting to remain on stage after the end of the song. Take in mind that the audience wasn’t his casual fans but lots of other celebrities. In fact, I think it was smart that both, Axl and Bruce, immediately left the stage.

Well, the one arena I saw in Basel in 2012, the upper level was quite empty. Mönchengladbach didn't fare much better, I was told. And the Oslo show I saw in 2010 also wasn't close to a sell out.

Yeah. The albums saved them back in the day.

Tickets for Mönchengladbach have been on sale for about 10€ because of low ticket sales and the show still wasn’t sold out.

I was looking for this thread - i was afraid to start it in case it highlights the footage & it gets taken down.

THIS IS THE HOLYGRAIL...fuck why cant they just release all this backstage/behind the scenes footage...the GnR universe is STARVED for this shit.

anyway I watched the hour + long compilation of clips there - its called Guns n Roses Robert john [The Photograpic History] and it has some fucking class unseen footage. Just seeing the band jam & shoot the shit back stage is unreal.

I dont know this is released now -

But my advice is find it asap & watch before its removed by whoever blocks this shit from us.

Indeed, the documentary is awesome. But it has been circulating on DVD for years. I think I got it via good old trading by post in 2007.

Same goes for lots of the snippets seen in the new trailer, especially the backstage and the St. Louis riot footage.

The live clips included in the trailer are, on the other hand, new to me, at least most of them.

  9. The footage has been around for lots of years but the edit gives me goosebumps.

Such a shame this and other equal footage will rot in the vaults instead of being released and make millions of fans happy. Besides that I would pay good money for an official release of 91-93 material in whatever form, this is something what they easily could have given us in small portions during the quarantine. Even if they had given us short footy each day since Covid-19 started, they would have tons of material for an commercial release left (which won’t happen anyway).

Especially, IF they seriously plan to release a UYI box next year, YT videos of footage like the Robert John stuff would have been the perfect teaser. In fact, with such YT videos they could have easily verifed what people click the most and what to focus on in terms of the official release (backstage material or live stuff, 91, 92 or 93 and so on).

But no, we did get nothing but two shitty videos from 2019, stupid photos of Frank/Melisa NO ONE wants to see or information that the band went to the movies to see Jurassic Park 20 years ago.

This band and management should be included in every textbook at business school as the perfect example of how not to do.
