The fan edition of NITL selects can be found HERE and it does feature Troubadour unlike the official clips released by GNR!!!

This is 100 times better than the official shit. Even if these are no pro shots, at least the footage has some heart and edge. Not even mentioning that it shows the lead singer who - besides - could actually sing at those times.

I own/have seen lots of test pressing not listed there.  Don't get me wrong, it's a great resource, just not complete.

Indeed, Discogs by far isn’t complete. Totally agree. I‘ve been collecting records for 30 years now and still got lots of stuff which isn’t listed. But this goes for small indie/punk bands or obscure releases. In terms of huge major label releases my experience is that Discogs is petty complete.

Besides, don’t you think that any existing alternative covers for CD on vinyl would be listed after 12 years of its release? I mean, in 2008 we immediately have been aware of the alternative compact disc-versions. Furthermore, those vinyl records would not be typical boring test pressings but proper alternative packaged versions of an major album release which lots of people are interested in. They would be something else like - lets say - a test pressing of a Live and let die 7“ single from the Netherlands with white labels and a generic paper sleeve which might be missing in Discogs.

Anyway, I highly doubt that alternative CD versions do exist on vinyl. Otherwise, we would know.

  3. I‘ve just double checked my CD vinyl version I bought in Germany in 2008 right on the date of its release. It has no FBI logo and clearly states „Made in the EU“ right above the barcode. Since it is still sealed I unfortunately cannot tell anything regarding the pressing quality.

Regarding the Hollywood Rose Lps. I got this German pressing by ZYX music, released in 2007:

    https://www.discogs.com/Hollywood-Rose-The-Roots-Of-Guns-N-Roses/release/2014661

To be honest, I don’t think I have ever listened to it. I just bought it as an collectors item. All Hollywood Rose compilations on vinyl are dirt cheap, at least in Germany.

If you really want to know about pressing quality or which versions are the best ones of a specific well known record, I highly recommend the Steve Hoffmann forum.

    https://forums.stevehoffman.tv/forums/music-corner.2/

Just use the search function and you will find anything you need.

Yeah, I didn’t think it would in an official capacity but wasn’t sure. I wondered if examples/test prints had been done at least as part of the creation process?

No, even test pressings are listed on discogs. This especially goes for major bands like GNR. Hence, I am sure it doesn’t exist.

It’s all bullshit. Priorities change in life. It hurts to be in the negative of such a shift, but Matt was considered a douche by most of those guys. He should have respected Duffs choice. He should have offered support and love. Instead, you get a half baked story about how Frank sucks or whatever. Duff isn’t a negative person and he wouldn’t talk poorly of Frank or Izzy.

... and here we go: Some people on this forum do always know better what happened than the people involved. Remarkable.

Yeah, I've seen the Discogs listing for it before. The big problem is the sellers I've contacted can never confirm if they're sure the one they're selling is a European pressing. However, the tip that I got earlier today about the FBI logo missing makes total sense. I'm going to message a few sellers and see if I can track a genuine European pressing down.

    Just in case you haven’t seen the additional aspects by which you can identify the European pressing;

The back cover of the European release does not feature the FBI logo and copyright warning (notable on the US version)

Oh cool, that very well might help. Thanks!

Like I said earlier, it really bums me out that Chinese is the one record I have that sounds like shit. I'd love for a European pressing to be the answer.

It’s pretty easy to get on Discogs:

    https://www.discogs.com/sell/release/1913716?ev=rb

    From the Discogs comments section:

     11. Mai 2015

This EU pressing is significantly better than the US one. The US is severely noisy, the EU is as silent as a CD.

  8. I am asking myself a few things:

    1.

How many views of this video in what time frame are sufficient for GNR/TB to post more stuff? (By the way, the answer to this question indicates for whom they post this stuff, for us the hardcore fanbase or the mainstream which they do call „fam“).

    2.

Which songs/performances are left to post anything without Mickey and without showing the last average joe that Axl cannot sing anymore? Is that Houston gig really that good that it can compete with classic stuff from the golden era? I haven’t heard it yet.

    3.

The band obviously still lives from their glory days in the 80/90s. They even promote this by still (re)releasing vintage-style merch only, e.g. all their TShirts are about AFD/Lies/UYI only. That alone shows that everybody in GNR camp perfectly knows what people want, the hardcore fanbase as well as the mainstream. In fact even their only release since the reunion was a recording from the 80ies. They do absolutely know that its only the stuff from the past which sells tickets to this day (evidence: there isn’t anything else which could support ticket sales ... besides toytrucks and laundary bags).

So why the heck don’t they just release topnotch footage from the glory days?! THIS is what everybody wants and what this whole reunion is all about. In addition, its all there. They have tons of footage which is ready to be released. Just drop it. You don’t even have to cut out Axl before.

It’s obvious that the only reason for not releasing the old stuff is that it would give little shine on the old band members. It’s embarrassing that this fact holds GNR away from what EVERYONE really wants, fans and „fuckin fam“.

and there’s still that pestilence that the cameraman shows a guitarist’s right hand instead of the left one, which is entirely useless and idiotic. I thought these morons disappeared with the 90s TV, but apparently not.

    LOL. Absolutely this 😂

This is something I never understood. Even if you’re not a guitar player, or even an musician at all, it is so obvious that the left hand is the one where the action is and which should be focused on.

I think the camera work and the sound quality are not suitable for a high quality DVD or Blu Ray. I saw fan made multi cams shows more action packed than this video

Yes, I think it was Nightrain and it was just awesome.

I really don’t want to complain but damn, they needed that long for THIS?! If this would have been an instant release at the very beginning of the worldwide quarantine, I would appreciate it.  But people are already leaving their houses again, at least in central Europe. Maybe they are speculating on this because the less people will see this 😉

That’s not true. The only thing they did is that videos will start playing at 480p by default , but you can obviously change it back to 1080p. Nothing about bitrates.

Most people don’t even care about changing video quality settings, so because of those people YouTube saves a lot of bandwidth by playing them at 480p instead of 1080p.

    My bad. Didn’t know.

Does the blu ray have all that content? I think the DVD hasn't, thats why I never bought it. And they always cut out the Spinal Tap segment!

The 2013 BluRay is the most complete version you can get. But it still misses some performances. From wikipedia:

„The concert was originally released in VHS form (usually in two tape releases worldwide), but due to time limitations, "Love of My Life" and "More Than Words" by Extreme, "Animal" and "Let's Get Rocked" by Def Leppard, Spinal Tap's "The Majesty of Rock", U2's "Until The End of the World", Mango Groove's "Special Star" and Robert Plant's version of "Innuendo" were removed in the original release. The US release also omitted Bob Geldof's performance of "Too Late God", and Zucchero Fornaciari's performance of "Las Palabras de Amor".

In April 2002, for the 10th anniversary of the Mercury Phoenix Trust, the second half of the concert featuring the performances by the surviving members of Queen was released on DVD and entered the UK charts at number 1.[7] "Innuendo" was not included on the DVD, at the request of Robert Plant. In addition, the original 4:3 footage had been cropped down to widescreen.

On 24 June 2013, Queen announced on their Facebook page that a new remastered version of the concert would be released in late 2013 on DVDand Blu-ray.[8] The DVD and Blu-ray was released on 2 September 2013. Like the earlier, VHS release, this version excludes Extreme's "Love of My Life" and "More Than Words", Def Leppard's "Animal" and "Let's Get Rocked", Spinal Tap, U2 and Mango Groove from the opening acts segment of the show, and Robert Plant's "Innuendo" from the Queen+ segment of the show.“

I'm watching it now.  My memory is fuzzy after 30 years but I remember watching this over & over on MTV back then.  I remember some of the bands also had their sets mixed in or maybe that was the way MTV cut the show?  Was that a different day of the concert or something?  I seem to remember GNR being on during daylight.

I didn’t follw the stream cause I got the blu ray but I expect they just streamed the actual gig where Queen was onstage with different guest artists.

What you have in mind are performances from the opening bands right before the actual tribute show. They happened during the daylight including GNR performing Paradise City ans KOHD. The KHOD performance became the official GNR music video and was played a million times per day by MTV in 1992.

I think Noel usually doesn’t care about the fans at all (and has made himself look like a douchebag this last decade), but he still manages to care way more than anyone from GN’R lol, and i’m sure that if he ever brings back Oasis, they would have an album out in less than 2 years (hope that happens).

I think, in fact he does care. But he pretends not to do so because for image reasons and so on.

Besides, I totally agree with you.

I mean even Oasis have released more tracks since 2008 and they've been disbanded for over a decade.

Not only this. They care about their fanbase. Noel has postet the following one or two weeks ago via social media and just dropped an old song. This is how it works.

    'DON'T STOP... (DEMO)'

"Hey there dudes and dollies. Like the rest of the world I’ve had infinite time to kill lately so I thought I’d FINALLY look and find out what was actually on the HUNDREDS of faceless unmarked cd’s I’ve got lying around in boxes at home.
As fate would have it I have stumbled across an old demo which I thought had been lost forever.
As far as I’m aware there is only one version of this tune “out there” from an Oasis soundcheck in Hong Kong about 15 years ago?
I’m not sure whether the soundcheck version pre dates the demo as there’s no date on the CD.
I know some of you love this tune so we thought we’d put it “out there” for you to enjoy/argue over.
It’ll be up on the internet from midnight.
    The song is called:
    'Don’t Stop...'
Hope everyone is staying safe and trying to ride out the lockdown with the minimum of fuss.
    You’re welcome by the way.
    ✌🏽"(NG)
