New GN’R documentary on Reelz - Sunday, June 18
Blackstar replied to ruttu69's topic in GUNS N' ROSES - DISCUSSION & NEWS
That was the worst GN'R documentary ever. Just Eddie Trunk, a couple of other journos and Stump from the St. Louis riot saying the same old shit (and not even accurately). It didn't even have any re-enactments except a couple of scenes. -

Yeah, the post I linked to was a comment in the thread about that Rolling Stone interview. We had discussed then about why that would be wrong. -

1983 is most likely correct, because she graduated from high school in 2001 (evidence here). Moreover, her professional and romantic relationship with Brain started around 2006, and she would have been too young for that had she been born in 1990. -

They have all travelled together (on their leased plane) since 2016 when they've toured outside North America. In North America Axl usually travels by tour bus. -
GnR appears as Performer of some Slash songs in ASCAP
Blackstar replied to SeBaZ's topic in GUNS N' ROSES - DISCUSSION & NEWS
Yeah, it's been there for a long time, but the performer tag on ASCAP doesn't mean anything. -
I'm curious about whether Axl wrote a new second verse in the meantime or it's the same, repeated verse as in the version from 2000.

Appetite for Distortion - Tommy Stinson
Blackstar replied to Gambit83's topic in Appetite for Distortion Podcast Archive
The Axl camp seems cool with Tommy now, though. He's the only ex-member that Beta still follows on IG, likes his posts, etc. -
Perhaps sounds really good on these clips, I must say. There's also that "mysterious song" that they soundchecked in South America last year. I still believe it was a song and not a random jam.
-
They generally didn't mention any credits (writing or performing) at all upon the release of Hard Skool (unlike what they did with Absurd) and we had to wait about a year for the writing credits to appear on ASCAP and the other databases. Moreover, regarding the drums, maybe they didn't mention anything because the Brain track is so processed/ProTool-ed that is completely altered.

He almost clearly said that he didn't help write HS, however he said that the song goes way back and it's much older than the other songs he re-recorded. So the most likely scenario is that the core of the song comes from the Axl/Tobias sessions in the mid-90s and maybe Duff had had a hand then, as well, but Slash wasn't involved.
-
Btw, according to Melissa's website, she "contributed musically" to both (re-recorded versions of) Hard Skool and Absurd. So I guess she re-recorded Pitman's parts on Absurd, but I can't imagine what she did on Hard Skool. https://www.melissareesemusic.com/about It also says that Brain is on drums on both songs. So it's Brain on HS, too (and not Frank as we had speculated) and the drum track is probably from around 2003-2004 but heavily processed to fit with the new version.
-
But he he has also said that HS was a "completed song" when he was first introduced to it. All the quotes here: https://www.a-4-d.com/t4135-hard-skool I believe that it was originally written circa 1996, but Slash didn't have anything to do with writing (Duff likely had, though), as he was practically out of the band for most of 1995-96.

It looks like "Prostitute or Madagascar" is in parentheses after Street of Dreams, so all three are for the same spot.

Maybe TIL will be replaced by Perhaps along the way.
