  1. You do realise that people being angry about a GNR song on a GNR forum isn't actually an indicator that their lives are full of misery right? It's a band forum. To waste time on when you're bored at work, on the bus or on the toilet. That's all it is. I think you are maybe taking all this way too seriously. There's no need to 'fear' for people on here or, oppositely, think their lives have no issues if they moan about a song..... it's just a band forum.
  2. There's something really sad about watching things fade away though and get progressively worse. So many bands are remembered as all time greats because they split or ended before that stage.
  3. I don't normally care about mixes/production stuff that much, but I have to say, even I noticed this one. It does sound bad, and that's to a totally unprofessional ear who doesn't know much (or usually care) about these things. From people that are big audiophiles point of view I'm not surprised it's a laughing stock of a song. I haven't braces looking at the Steve Hoffman forum, but I bet they're all pissing themselves! As you say though, it has no impact at all on their reputation really with the wider audience. It's just a real shame as (I seem to be in the minority here) I actually really like The General as a song. That's one way of putting it......
  4. You do spend an awful lot of your time telling people how you don't get pissed off. It's good to know. You must feel very happy not to be 'us', as you so often point out. A rare light shining in the darkness.
  5. Yeah this is the situation really. Most people attending shows now don't even know old album tracks, let alone new b-sides. It's an irrelevance to pretty much everyone apart from us. What it has done is piss us all off....but then we're well used to all that. It hasn't done any damage to their rep in my opinion, it's just another thing on the long list of wasted opportunities.
  6. That's gone in the bin I imagine. Rotting away with everything else we wouldn't mind hearing. Even Steven Wilson was baffled as to why they'd pay him to do it then not release it! I suppose, knowing how tight GNR is, he was lucky to have been paid!
  7. Love that. Infinitely better than the third rate covers they've been putting out. Give us some details on it - what your inspiration was, how you did it?
  8. Yeah I actually wouldn't mind then splitting up now. Unless there's going to be 'new era' (and a proper one, not an F'N one for the purposes of hashtags) I just don't see much merit in them continuing other than to their bank accounts. I always enjoying seeing them live, but I'm not especially bothered if I never do again at this point.
  9. I think we need to set our sights lower than 'will they release an epic?'. I'd suggest 'will they ever record a note of new music?' would be a more reasonable level of discourse.
  10. They don't care. If they did care, it wouldn't sound like this and the vinyl wouldn't look shit. It really is as simple as that.
  11. The CD release is going to be a laugh. Maybe they'll manage to forget to put a hole in the middle of the disc?
  12. Another two years wait to hear a song we've already heard, slightly altered? With that in mind my interest in what they release next is minimal, unless they decide to write something new.
  13. Song seems to be dividing opinions, which is fine I think. Some like it a lot, others don't, which is always the way for music from any band. I like the song- but there's just no excuse for the production/mix. I can't defend that and I do find it infuriating that when we finally get this song, it sounds as it does.
  14. I've come to the conclusion that it has to be the result of a combination of nepotism and penny pinching.
  15. I feel the same. Glad I cancelled my vinyl order and no way will I be ordering it again, especially given what people are saying about it on here.
  16. Haha- I mean tie dyed hoodies and jogging bottoms....nope! I do see a LOT of tie dye shirts around though and if you have a look on the internet it is regarded as very much 'on trend'. Not that i'm defending this shit they're making though, don't get me wrong!
  17. Those clicks and pops you all mentioned (and I thought I'd never notice!) are all over the last bit! I'm not a big one for worrying too much about production and mixing nuances....but even to me this sounds mixed terribly, especially the drums. What a wasted opportunity. Again.
  18. Proper tie dye is actually in fashion again.....but this stuff most definitely isn't.
  19. What's the reason behind them producing it so badly? Any theories? Is it just that they couldn't give a fuck and have done it on the cheap?
  20. The only thing was a vague comment from Slash about songs getting released. Very vague and a long time ago. Other than that, there's been nothing other than unfounded nonsense from trolls which people have run with out of desperation. The idea that Atlas will just appear out of nowhere in the next few months when they're not on tour is absolute fantasy in my opinion and people taking that idea on are going to be sorely disappointed.
  21. It's sort of endearing how desperately people want this band to be better and more interesting - that there might be a hidden track and that the leaks weren't the same versions that are getting released. This is GNR folks. You have to keep that in mind.
  22. I was thinking the same. It's getting ridiculous the amount of spam they're firing out.
