Speed Racer was a big pile of shit. And I love Christina Ricci. One of the few movies I stopped watching halfway through.

Lost in Translation. Could Scarlett be ANY sexier than she was in that movie? And Bill Murray is just classic.

HOLY FUCK.

Anybody seen Snow Angels?

Sort of drags on in places.

But wow.

Rockwell was perfect.

Beckinsale is usually not that great of an actress, but I thought she was great. A lot of people thought she was amatuerish . . . but I think that's what made it work. Her character didn't seem like a hot hollywood actor trying to play a . . . well, say a one-step up from trailer-park trash person. ((((Like charlize theron in Monster. Most overrated oscar winning part in the history of the oscars - imo. The entire movie was "ok, Charlize is acting." I didn't buy it for one second. And I like Theron. I just thought she was terrible in Monster.)))))

If you have never watched Snow Angels before . . . . and you are over the age of 30 . . . . . I urge you to rent it one night. DONT go out of your way and make a night centered around it. But if you are picking up a couple movies for the weekend - it's a pretty decent movie.

She was great early on, especially in Cold Comfort Farm and even more especially in The Last Days of Disco. But she seems mostly interested in being a movie star these days. Snow Angels was a nice deviation from that path, and I think she'll be a real contender down the road when she can no longer rely so heavily on her looks.

Last three weeks I watched...

Killshot (2008) - 5/10

Could have been a lot better with an improved script and a competent director.

Motel Hell (1980) - 3.5/10

Dated badly and it's not really funny.

Autopsy (2008) - 5/10

Decent american horror. A rarity these days.

The Children (2008) - 6/10

Solid UK horror.

Black Christmas (2006) - 1/10

Pointless remake with zero suspense.

Ghost World (2001) - 8.5/10

Great little movie. Buscemi and Birch should have been nominated for the Academy Awards that year.

The Watch (TV) (2008) - 4.5/10

A nice thriller up until the stupid twist and lame ending.

The House By The Cemetery (1981) - 5/10

Always the same with Fulci: no plot and mediocre acting, but plenty of gore with an eerie atmosphere.

Quantum Of Solace (2008) - 6.5/10

A disappointment considering the brilliant Casino Royale, although Daniel Craig is still good as Bond.

Adaptation (2002) - 8/10

A bit out there, but a good movie. Very good performances from Cage, Cooper and Streep. The first hour was fantastic, then things started to drag a little bit, and then the third act was nonsense. I guess it was intentional.

I just got back from Point Break v 2.0. Vio Con Dios!

I went in with low expectations and was impressed.

WTF. They released a 2nd one?

Edit: I'm gonna assume you were talking about Fast and Furious

The Spirit was unwatchable.

I actually didn't think it was that bad. I went to the theater with low expectations though, to be honest. It still kept my interest and I even laughed at a few parts. Though, the guy in the theater who acted as if he had Tourette's by yelling things out during the movie (such as, when The Spirit and the woman are in the hospital and are talking "sexy" to each other, he yells out, "Put it in her ass!") probably made it even more enjoyable.

i really liked the spirit, i was expecting something more along the lines of sin city, but i liked some of the ridiculous aspects of it. ilike BS, i had zero expectations, which is usually a good start haha.

same with alvin and the chimpunks. that movie rocked my world. i didnt expect much.

I've watched in the past week:

Anchorman - I thought this was good. Will Ferrel really adapts to his role well, as does everyone, especially Steve Carrell. Some of the dialogue is gold, and the guest appearances from Vinca Vaughn, Ben Stiller et al are fantastically funny. The plot actually has a lot of holes, but when I watch of these films (Frat Pack) I'm not looking for a very good story, I'm looking to piss myself, and that's what I did!

The Break Up - Overall lacking something. I love Vince Vaughn, he's a fantastic actor in films like Dodgeball, Be Cool etc, but he's not very cut out for a rom-com type film. He has his good moments, like the footage of him on the tourbus, but overall, not very memorable. I also think Jennifer Anniston is very poor in this.

Ray - Wow. A really amazing story, Jamie Foxx is fantastic, the dialogue is told in a memorable way, and the detail is fantastic. And of course, the music is unbeatable. Apparently Ray Charles sat down with the director and played piano with him for 2 hours, challenging him in many styles, and finally stood up and said 'This is the man for the job!' And he sure got that right!

Dan In Real Life - One of Steve Carrel's more toned-down roles, he adapts well to the character in my opinion. Some very cute scenes, a fantastic setting for the movie too. A real good quality family film.

Charlie Wilson's War - A really great film, one of my personal top 10. Starring Tom Hanks is a sure-fire way to create a great film, but the whole cast is brilliant. Phillip Seymour Hoffman is especially acknowledgeable for a solid performance. It's one of those films where the humour just comes to the script naturally, there's nothing too forced, and the director/writers haven't sat down and worried about the content of the script, it's there when it's needed. Highly recommended.

Bully.

Still don't understand why it wasn't more highly praisded.

Of any movies trying to portray teens, this one was the most realistic.

Brad Renfro and Nick Stahl were outstanding.

I actually disliked Stahl after seeing it.

One of my favourite films. Have you seen Kids?

I had it, then for some reason ended up not watching it and had to take it back to avoid more late fees.

Should I see it???
