Net Neutrality

I don't think there's been a thread on this here yet, or at least not recently. This article is a few weeks old so I'm a bit late posting it here but: http://www.npr.org/blogs/alltechconsidered/2014/01/14/262454310/feds-cant-enforce-net-neutrality-what-this-means-for-you

The rules of the internet are [possibly] changing. Do you trust ISP's to make the correct decisions when the time comes?

As of yesterday, there's already been some indication that ISP's would engage in nefarious behavior as a result of the new ruling. Verizon has allegedly attempted to slow personal computer connections to Amazon Web Services, which includes AWS's clients (Netflix is one of these).

Have FiOS and use Amazon Web Services? Check your connection speed.

The idea that ISP's would do something like this is troublesome....and I wouldn't really put it past them. As with many things in free market societies though, eventually....the bad apples will be weeded out. Sooner or later, if companies begin to do this....others will not....and people will flock to the companies that don't. Eventually, the companies that do....will be forced not to just to remain competitive.....one would think, anyway.... :shrugs:

I'm hoping Google Fiber will change the game the way Google Mail did.

As long as it don't effect the films and music downloading, the football and boxing news and dodgy streams and the porno i have no problems with it.

It will affect all that if the GOP gets its way.
Chris Dodd was a Democratic candidate.
Well that serves me right for reading one post and commenting.
