I really think it was gone for the most part as early as Rio 2001. Of course it was fantastic to see him again after so long, but something wasn't right. He'd lost "it", whatever "it" is. I'd say we saw brief flashes in 2006 but not much else. The radical decline in his stage presence is equal to the radical decline in his voice.

Axl used to be cool as fuck and his stage presence was great in the early years.. Now he just looks weird and awkward especually with that little side shuffle thing he does. I thought he looked cool in the sweet child video, the Late Show when they did You're Crazy, Jungle at the VMA's and things like that. One example is when he strolled on stage during Tom petty's Free Fallin.. That was just the definition of cool...

He really got into it during the UYI's tour but some of his moves just started to become very staged and corny..

I do think he looked pretty cool during that first Rick In Rio with NuGnR too for what it is worth.

Axl during Free Fallin was a GOD. I almost always love him, but that was the absolute best for me.

I did too. In classic Guns Axl always seemed like he was about half a second from jumping the shark, but imo he pulled it off pretty much every time. Spandex shorts with high tops and white socks? And a purple blazer? Fuck it. Pullin' it off. For some people, it didn't work, but for me he was just the coolest motherfucker no matter what ridiculous shit he was doing or wearing.

Other thing I like about this clip is how spontaneous it is. I can't remember seeing him do that hop dance before or since. That's just what came out of his body on the spot as the band played the song. Cool shit.

the fun thing is i was right behind the one who filmed it haha it were 3 german guys, and i danced with them on sweet child o' mine and they gave me free booze and stuff it was an incredible night and Axl totally was phenomenal
