Old cartoons that wouldn't get broadcast today?

They'd probably be shown on Turner Classics.

Disney has had a reluctance to put "Song of the South" out, even though the VHS version was released years ago. I think you'd have to put it in "historical perspective" the way Disney did "On The Front Lines" and preface it with "yeah we know it's offensive, but we're grown adults and can't censor history".

I think Warners made more offensive/politically incorrect shorts.

Yeah a lot of the cartoons from the 40's and 50's would never get played today.

When my granddaughter watches Tom and Jerry I tell her that these cartoons have to messages nor do you learn anything but how that damn mouse Jerry constantly beats up tom the cat.

Sometimes I can't believe how violent these cartoons are compared to the new ones that actually teach kids things.

I mean some of the Popeye's and Betty Boop are too explicit for little kids to watch, yet we watched them as kids and just laughed.

Hah, this might expose my (non existent) neo nazi background but I think Val has paid her dues for the infamous post by now.

Nowhere near as bad as some of the stuff here, but I used to watch Robotech as a kid ( 3 completely unrelated Japanese anime series bought by Americans, dubbed and somehow made into one story) and that featured some of the heroes getting shot down and killed, the obliteration of the Earth's surface by an alien armada, and later on one of the main characters was a cross dresser.
