ZoSoRose Posted March 11, 2015 Author Posted March 11, 2015 Not yet, but I am assuming soon. The first tour date is this week, what a surprise! Quote
Zeppelin Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 Matt said the first single might be out sometime this week because they were busy mixing it. I think it's called Psycho. Anyway, good news! Quote
ZoSoRose Posted March 11, 2015 Author Posted March 11, 2015 I hope they still have some really cool orchestra/synth elements. I know he said they were stripping back but there was some awesome stuff on Resistance and 2nd LawThere's a track listing on Wikipediahttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drones_(Muse_album) Quote
Strange Broue Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 (edited) Awesome news!I I'm a fan since 2006 and catch them on every subsequent tour since then, they are probably one of the best live acts out there nowadaysI enjoyed their recent records but i'm glad they finally get back to their roots (which is not a bad thing if you like their first 3 albums, i guess)Matt Bellamy is extremely talented and i'm particularly like Dominc Howards drumming too! Strange Broue Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 From Matt: “To me, 'Drones' are metaphorical psychopaths which enable psychopathic behaviour with no recourse. The world is run by Drones utilizing Drones to turn us all into Drones. This album explores the journey of a human, from their abandonment and loss of hope, to their indoctrination by the system to be a human drone, to their eventual defection from their oppressors."The first single from Drones, “Dead Inside,” will debut the week of 23 March. Preorder for the new album will be available tomorrow at 7:30pm GMT, along with the new song “Psycho.”DRONES 1. Dead Inside2. [Drill Sergeant]3. Psycho4. Mercy5. Reapers6. The Handler7. [JFK]8. ChineseDemocracy2004 Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 Looks like the Manchester tickets have all gone. Quote
bacardimayne Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 Looking forward to this. I had given up on them after the Resistance, but the 2nd Law pulled me back in. Quote
ZoSoRose Posted March 12, 2015 Author Posted March 12, 2015 (edited) I liked a lot of Resistance- the title track, Uprising, United States of Eurasia, Unnatural Selection, and Exogenesis were all pretty great. 2nd Law was half and half for me (I really liked half, but the Chris songs and title track pulled me out)Origin of Symmetry is their best in my opinion Edited June 3, 2015 by ZoSoRose Quote
bt88 Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 (edited) Is anyone else just tired of Bellamy's whole "us vs them' vague lyrics? I mean just look at the album cover, this is ridiculous Now granted, the new song rocks, but the lyrics are horrendous. "your ass belongs to me now" Come on Edited March 12, 2015 by bt88 Quote
bacardimayne Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 So they basically just tried to do Uprising again and did a worse job. Quote
ZoSoRose Posted March 12, 2015 Author Posted March 12, 2015 I think the melodies and music is pretty good, but man, do these lyrics suck The overdubs are horrible, tooI am a bit sick of Matt's whole "1984 us vs them" schtick, but the music comes first. I'm still excited for the album, but this is a relatively disappointing single Quote
Mansin Humanity Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 Haven't listened yet, but at this point I figure semi-cringeworthy dystopian lyrics are just part of the package. 1 Quote
ZoSoRose Posted March 12, 2015 Author Posted March 12, 2015 Yeah, MUSE (really, Matt) was never good at writing lyrics. Still, this is pretty bad... "your ass belongs to me"... come on Quote
ChineseDemocracy2004 Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 I enjoyed Psycho.Drones reminded me of House of the Rising Sun. Quote
bacardimayne Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 Where can you hear Drones?! There's a video on YouTube that's 100% not real. Quote
bacardimayne Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 Just going by the track listing and the single, this album is going to be shit. Quote
D.. Posted March 12, 2015 Posted March 12, 2015 Yeah it's not very good... The Resistance was definitely their best album, this song is way too simple, it's not even on par with their b-sides from the early 2000's. And the riff was written around the 2003 tour... what a joke. Quote
Zeppelin Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 Meh, I like it. Simple is good sometimes. I highly doubt this is indicative of the entire album, but we'll see. Quote
Timotheus Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 (edited) There's a bit too much repetition towards the end, but I like it.The ass line is obviously not meant to be taken seriously. The band knows it's hilariously bad and they don't care. This song is not a single by the way, just a free giveaway. The first single will be released in the week of March 23.
