IncitingChaos
Same tour, just different guitar so not the same from the music video. The shots from the music video are from a professional camera. We won't have access to that show where they cut video from but it's a good reminder that everything was filmed in really high quality during the whole Illusions tour. The Dead Horse music video has some really cool stage video and great rehearsing video of Axl. Easily my favorite of all the music videos.

Slash always had some tasteful leads while they'd jam the intro as well, and the same is true for the 1993 versions. It's also worth noting that Slash does the intro acoustic track on the studio version. Axl only did it live in 1993 and even simplified it a bit - no doubt to make it easier based on his guitar skills and having to sing over it.

He said he has great guitar skills. But Axl said he sucks at playing guitar. Axl is brutally honest and brutally sucks. Still came up with One In A Million and Dead Horse on guitar. That's impressive, but the man can't play guitar. Decent piano player though. Has a great ear for melody as well.I know he wrote some guitar parts for There Was A Time, lead and rhythm if I'm not mistaken. And he constructed Catcher's demo solo with Caram. He calls guitar playing "the art of guitar". I think he lacks the technical ability to be a good guitar player, but he can come up with guitar ideas that, with help from others, can turn into great songs. CheapJon
I'm pretty sure that it's not from an actual show. Just someone filming Axl pretending to play it at a show and then adds it to a bunch of actual live clips and sync it all together.

The version on the album has a lot of variations that Axl never did live so that was probably some Slash embellishment.

Probably more variation on there because he wasnt singing at the same time. Slash plays clean electric over acoustic right before the "then when she said she was gonna like wreck my car..." bit. James Bond
My mistake - I figured my memory could be failing me on that. I swear I remembered Slash being credited for acoustic guitars there but I guess that's the problem with posting on mobile when I can't immediately reach for the liner notes.

It's an innocent guitar, not unlike Izzy (Stradlin, ex-GN'R guitarist) was, but Axl's got a lot more musically than Izzy ever did.'" I've been looking for these quotes for a long time! It's been a while since I remember reading it, but it always stuck with me how impressed everyone was by Axl's ability to learn a new instrument. The whole band is incredibly talented. But I think Axl takes it to another level when he's obsessed with something.

But I think Axl takes it to another level when he's obsessed with something. It makes me wonder how much of CD's guitar work was composed by Axl. I don't think Axl is the simplistic player who only knows 2 chords like he did back in 1988. I mean for Duff - when sober - to compare Axl's playing with Izzy's in terms of quality - says something. IncitingChaos
Agreed, I think Axl downplays what he's capable of in fear of being judged too strong on an instrument that he learned pretty late in life. I'm sure he played a big role in how he wanted the guitars to sound in CD. Like he said "CD was more" my thing.
