An explanation is required for this next one.  I heard a radio program about this song last year.  Its the Christmas carol "Do You Hear What I Hear."  I learned the song was written by atheists during the 'Cuban Missile Crisis'.  The crisis is viewed by many as the closest the world has come to protracted nuclear war and the American People were living with a lot of fear.  While being confronted with nuclear war the American song writers found that the religious tapestry describing the revelation of God was the only way they could give language to the overwhelming reality they faced.  The "star" in the lyric is the nuclear explosion and the angels "singing" is the sound of the catastrophe.  And, finally, they found solace in the concept of a child embodying a promise of peace.  The song sounds very different to my ears ever since.
