MillionsOfSpiders
Just now, Blackstar said: Yes, from what I just read, it looks like the same thing: fans had the chance to win an invitation either via Sirius or via the fan club. I don't know how many celebs were there. The "invitation only" thing means that there will not be tickets for sale. Of course it would be better if they did another (more fan friendly) way, but I honestly don't think that it will be all about celebrities. And the intelligent models seem to be out of the picture as we discussed the other day. I just read about it too They had 20 million listeners tune in. Ubukitty
THIS REALLY SUCKS1 Why wouldn't they do the show in LA where they started. I am so pissed, bummed, depressed. We've been waiting for this for so long and only to have our dreams squashed.

Axl Of course that the whole women's thread should be invited among the first. There's no doubt. Axl! For god's sake, we've been giving you a good laugh for more than a year now, so we deserve it. (and I swear I will start loving you again.....more than ever )

Maybe they will finally surprise us doing the right thing for once and if not, we still have the little south american tour. There's always something to look up to, don't give up on this bunch of assholes I hope so.... But after seeing so much shit done and how our tour was the lousiest and lamest regarding merch, surprises and sightings (of course, not counting Steven Adler presence which was the best ever)... it is very little compared to what other regions got and I have lost all my hopes in getting cool things for us. What really sucks, I have realized now, that this band works just for the rich people. The highest price you can pay for a ticket, that's the best view you're gonna get or if you buy those outrageous expensive VIP packages then you have better souvenirs and chances. If you have lots of money to subscribe to crap, then you can win cool stuff..... if you live in an expensive city like London or Munich or a top capital (not latinamerican, of course) then you will get lots of perks and so on, the more money you pour in the pockets of these assholes, the more they love you and if on top of that, you suck up to TB and hang out with them, more chances to be handpicked in one of those rigged contests they do at Nightrain. There are no traces of the band we used to know, of the band that I fell in love with in the early 90's.... It's all for the establishment now, all in the name of capitalism and neoliberalism EDIT: OMG, I just remember that Axl SANG HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE QUEEN OF ENGLAND!!!! That's how far he's gone sucking up to the worst of the politicians world. Edited June 21, 2017 by killuridols

RochelleRochelle
Howard Stern made the announcement about the Apollo show this morning. invitation only, just means you have to enter to win tix. None for sale, I entered the contest already. they're going to live stream the show on Howard100. Howard was complaining that he wants to interview Axl, but so far that does not seem to be happening. It is strange to me that they will do such a big show with celebs and media just to play the same old songs..... could it be possible that they introduce a new song? or announce the new album? From what you posted about Metallica, they were promoting a 3D concert movie, so it makes sense they try to bring all the attention to them that way, but GN'R???? There has to be something more to this show other than just the Big Three playing the same shit they've been playing for 30 years. If there is not...... then it is amazing how they are able to get away with such things without new music 12 minutes ago, Blackstar said: Well, tbh, they were never anti-capitalist or a music collective distributing their music and doing gigs for free In fact, all popular music is a commodity and part of the capitalist economy with the exception of some small DIY bands. I think now it has to do with that they are old and a legacy act for the most part (and this regardless of new music or not) with a target audience being mostly 35+ year olds. And it's not just them, the whole music industry has changed and rock, at least in NA and Europe, is not relevant to the majority of younger people anymore and there is nothing "rebellious" or "anti-establishment' about it. Back then there were no VIP seats and shows for celebs by rock bands (except some really washed-out ones) and now you see bands playing at celebs private parties, weddings etc. 19 minutes ago, beautifulanddamned said: This. I like some of their songs quite a bit (like Back Balloon or Satellite) and generally think they've got some good hooks. Saw them live once in 2009. I am not a superfan either but a fan yes, also saw them somewhere around 2009 I think..they were opening for Arctic Monkeys, this year I finally saw them in Prague as I had ticket for the show for ages but they postponed the gig a year or so well and then they happened to open for GNR so no complaints there 20 hours ago, MillionsOfSpiders said: It was quite a bit of a bummer Not entirely because it turned into Better, though. Axl was really digging slash's little intro too, you could see he was really into it so why the hell are those two not making some new music together!? That heat is a killer, I was so happy when they finally let us in and we got to the shade and then the stage was so big it gave us a good shadow to stand in (ended up losing my aviators and GnR cap in the pit ) The problem is it gets so humid too and it saps all of your energy. Even Axl could hardly wear his jackets Second night they put a huge fan on the stage for them. They had water for the rail people but it was in these big open tubs and I am funny about stuff like that, what could get in there?? so I let myself dehydrate badly and could hardly walk out of the stadium, had to keep sitting down lol. The London shows were a brilliant atmosphere, I never even thought about the terror threat at all from the minute I set foot in London. Funny how that happens there, it has a vibe all of its own that's for sure. I moan a lot and say I hate it there but I don't really, there's just nowhere else like that city haha!! They are just being cruel at this point Even leading fans to believe they are starting a new song and then it is Better! I hope they are making some new music together! But even if ..we might never get to hear it! And the heat in London was unbearable for me! I really felt like my intestines are being cooked! Never experienced such a hot wether in there so I was surprised how unbearalbel 30 degrees can be, I mean it was close to being as bad as when it gets 38-39 here We of course decided to walk around London since early morning and even went to the stadion by walk I thought I would be a bit paranoid when in London but the city had the same effect on me and I totally got any terror treat out of my mind the minute I got there. Just walking round with a smile on my face thinking everything around is so beautiful while being cooked alive
