DJ Ashba quits Guns N' Roses

Recommended Posts

Is it not possible that DJ quit because maybe someone like Finck rejoined?

Also...Bumblefoot I don't think quit. He was leaving his options open and probably still is; probably holding out for a better wage/more free time for his solo stuff etc. I don't think Bumble's out of the band.

Touring wise, you could see a lineup like this the next time the band tours:

Axl

Bumble

Fortus

Duff

Frank

Dizzy

Pitman

I can't believe he's lost another two guitarists, it's like the ultimate fucking sad, sad bottom of the barrel when Ashba throws in the towel and gives up... Axl is just utterly devoid of fucks left to give. I am certain part of his soul left him and was washed down the drain with that monsoon in rock in rio, he just came back like a ghost that's trapped in the same depressing cycle when there was another rung up the ladder to take this band after the eventually successful and admirable CD world tour and release. Can't say he's wasted his potential but he's wasted an indian summer and a hell of a lot of potential, so odd to see a guy with so much at his disposal still and do zilch with it except repeat a tour over and over...

"I have always been driven by my passion for creating music" - This is the first time I sympathize with DJ. Just imagine the bullshit he has been hearing from TB and Axl, whenever he had the chance to talk directly to him, that his music would be featured in a new album. His kid-like persona must had gone like "Fuck yeah son! I'll have a song in a GNR record!"

Then year after year, TB tells him to wait, that there's a new tour, that life is on the way, etc... Then he meets up with Nikki Six and they make a new song in 30 minutes.

For those saying Robin might return - guys, stop doing this. Next guitar player will be someone DJ's level, maybe they will add a girl, not for her skills, but because the last true rockstar in the world likes chicks.

But Ashba expects to return to the stage with Rose, saying, Ive got his back whenever he needs me. Ever since I joined GNR six years ago, its almost been nonstop touring. But weve kind of talked of more touring, and Im looking at this more as a hiatus than the end.

Ok, with Ashba officially out, it's now up to reunion or we will never see Guns N' Roses again I guess.

Ashba's farewell letter:

To Each and Every One Of You,

6 years ago I received a call that changed my life forever. The call was from a dear friend of mine (Katie McNeil-Diamond) who was working with Guns N’ Roses. It was an offer to audition for Axl Rose and earn a role in arguably the biggest rock band of my time. While I thought it was a complete long-shot, I decided to go ahead and give it a try. Much to my shock and surprise, I got the gig. And so began the most incredible journey I could have possibly imagined. I was blessed with the opportunity to not only work with one of the most talented bands but also to share the stage with a living legend and a truly gifted human being, Axl Rose. The amount of confidence and trust that Axl placed in me was genuinely heartwarming and truly career-defining. In the years that followed I traveled the world many times over and played these incredible songs night after night to the most enthusiastic and loving crowds. As you can imagine, the friendships that were forged during that time were deep and long lasting. But the most beautiful surprise of all was YOU... the fans. You welcomed me into your lives with open arms and showed me love and support that I could only have dreamed of. From the very first time I stepped on stage and started playing "Welcome To The Jungle," and felt the crowd erupt, I knew my life would never be the same. I'm not gonna lie...I was terrified!! But you were so accepting. You immediately turned my fear into pride. For that, I am truly grateful.

So now it is with a very heavy heart and yet great pride that I announce that I've decided to close this chapter of my life and encapsulate the wonderful times that I've shared with Guns N’ Roses into fond memories. I have reached a point in my life where I feel its time to dedicate myself to my band Sixx:A.M., my adoring wife and family, and to the many new adventures that the future holds for me. I have always been driven by my passion for creating music and Sixx:A.M. has always been a place where I can express myself honestly and share that passion with my two brothers and bandmates, Nikki Sixx and James Michael. As you know I have also been blessed with the love and support of my incredible wife, Naty, who has been at my side for much of this amazing journey.

As I sit here writing this letter, I want to take a moment to thank Axl from the bottom of my heart for not only the most incredible experience of my life, but for truly believing in me. You are a true friend and a champion of mine and I am forever grateful. And even as I move on to pursue other endeavors, I will always remain one of your biggest fans. I also would like to thank each and every one of you fans for your love and support throughout the years. Without you, I am nothing. Please know that I do not take one minute of this amazing life for granted.

I hope that you all join me as I forge ahead. Let's conquer the world together!

With love and respect,

Dj Ashba

didn't he write somewhere recently how shocked he was with all the online bashing he got from Guns fans? Now he can at least butcher his own songs

Now THIS is something worth dancing in the hallways about!

I fucking love that you're a mod and you said that.

I know this is a thought only a hater could have, but what if Axl really is going to release some music and this is happening because he lol'd at and rejected everything DJ submitted? :wow:

Or Robin and Bucket's solos on the unreleased stuff are impossible for him to play.

I've seen all the legends of rock perform altho they are older now when I saw them but Axl had the best presence out of all of them. He is prob the third best concert I've been to and that is only because I saw legends Tina Turner and Led Zep in 2007. I'm saying this because it is clear that we can't judge Axl like any other normal bandleader coz he is not. His extreme perfectionism and insecurity has got to the point that his best friend and ally in the band, DJ, is even leaving. Altho I don't think Ashba is a very good guitarist, Axl has appeared the happiest on tour since this guy came into the band and they get on well. I sympathise with Ashba because I think her really though he was making an album with Gnr. His material prob wasn't good enough and Axl has very high standards. However I think it's time t=for Axl to put aside the perfectionism, and just release average stuff for his own mental health and to just get writing again!

I don't even know what to say.

Honestly, I almost feel this will make Axl hate Slash even more. Think about it: how can they ever be friends now or even speak again? It was one thing when Axl had a band he seemed he was sorta comfortable with. It looked like both Slash and Axl had moved on. Now what does Slash do? Try to contact Axl, when Axl would probably just yell at him that Slash is the reason all of this happened in the first place? In a way, Slash reaching out in any capacity is just rubbing salt in the wounds that "Axl's band", that he's spent 20 years trying to move on with, is over and done with. Aside from the fact that I don't think Slash would lower himself to playing with Axl sounding like he is these days.

Its funny how in GNR land you always think something could never happen till it does.
