Lol. I'm already in enough trouble for locking the other one. If I lock this one there will be mutiny.

    So that's a no I'm afraid.

Unless Uncle Axl sends me some more hush money. ;)

We would support you, if you could lock this thread and reopen the other one until it reaches a legit 1000 pages. We need that album announcement.

Apparently, Frank Ferrer appeared on a Polish breakfast programme in an info TV.
He and his wife were mostly asked about their relationship, but, when asked about a possible 2023 Europe tour and a Polish show, he said that 'they're putting a summer tour together' and the band's gonna announce other dates soon.

Not sure if you're joking or if this is the truth. Who the fuck wants to talk to Frank Ferrer?? In Poland of all places. :rofl-lol:

According to my insider sources, Axl REALLY wanted to put the record out years ago but the label thought the new album thread on the fan forum needed to be at the least 1000 pages before it could come out. It’s our fault

Yeah. Sure is. Only 1,5 mio views for an album that doesn't exist. We have failed.

I basically grouped them together with 2001-02, 2006-07, and 2009-14 as sub-groups. It was all Chinese Democracy but 2006-07 feels like a world of difference from 2009-14. If you add all the shows from that era you get 353 shows from 2001-2014.

Yeah. It sets the record for the longest era ever. ;) And if anything '09-'14 should be the CD era.

I wanted to do the rough math on the amount of touring they've done through different eras of their history and came up with this. I know different legs had different names but I went by the years they toured consecutively and by era which leaves out the 2 1990 shows they did which feels sandwiched between 2 eras. There might also be award show appearances counted in here.

    Appetite Era: 1987-1989-(182)
    Use Your Illusion Era: 1991-1993-(196)
    Chinese Democracy Era: 2001-2002-(27)
    2006-2007-(94)
    2009-2014-(232)
Not In This Lifetime Era: 2016-2022-(249)

I would say CD era lasted from 2001 to 2014.

The crowd can't complain about a new album when Chinese Democracy is effectively a new album. There's good songs off that album that probably sound good live but Axl for most of this run unfortunately can't do them justice. 2009-early 2010s was the best period for those songs in concert.

He's playing those songs since 20 years. Nothing new about them.

The fact is his audience is boomers/Gen-Xers who are older and have the disposable income where this mostly doesn't effect them.

Yeah. That's the "problem" with artists like Springsteen. They have their built in audience that won't go to the concert of every Tom, Dick and Harry that visits their town, because they're old. They go to a concert once or twice a year (most likely see the one artist in question) and won't mind paying more that one or two times. Also since they are older, they do have the disposable income to spend on 1 or 2 concerts a year.

Does not matter the price. If people have seen them already and they are offering nothing new then alot of people wont be buying tickets. Why waste time watching a even worse vocal/band performance of the same songs/setlist either?

They are not the stones with a massive fan base and catalogue of music (supposedly new lp 2023 too) to pick from or Beyonce who actually tours her new music.

Or maybe people saw them already, liked it, are pretty much convinced that they will not have another chance for quite a while, after they played Europe twice and just will go again. Either scenario is possible.

IMO, the greatest that there ever was. The absolute GOAT. I had the imense pleasure of seeing Ozzy live twice: once in a solo tour, and once with Black Sabbath. I fear the day he's no longer with us.

Luckily I got to seem him 8 and 8. Yeah. It's a shame about this non tour announcement. Had my 2 tix since 2018. Hopefully he can follow through on plans to do a residency. Would travel to that.

I would say I've never been to fewer concerts in my life, since I started going to gigs age 15. Definitely makes me sad, and I'm not seeing things I want to see.....but I can't change it.

With my overheads, bills, housing, food expenditure etc still rocketing upwards and my wage not, buying those sort of tickets isn't feasible.

I do wish bands would, even occasionally, just reel back a bit their desire to make millions and therefore shut certain types of fan out, but I'm not naive enough to think most of them care a stuff about fans!

Yeah. It seems the older and richer they get, the less they think of the average man. Which is quite sad actually. Artists on their retirement tours, close to 80 charging more than ever, really sucks to high hell. Actually more people should say fuck them. But since most people don't and there is nothing to do to change it, you either say fuck them and stay at home sulking and missing out or you cough up the money, if you can. I'm not good at missing out. So I see myself going to more and more concerts, as for me it's the finishing line. I'm not really interested in any of the young artists.

Do you have to be poor to say big  concerts have become ludicrously expensive?

I couldn't care less about 'market forces' or that 'all big acts charge the same', concerts have got to stupid prices. I don't think you need to be rich or poor to point that out!

Sure, people seem to be paying these prices, but fucking hell have gig demographics changed in recent years.....and not for the better in my humble opinion.

No, obviously not. Only if you can't afford to go to concerts you wanna go or need months to get funds together to go to a concert, by which time, had the dates been announced many months in advance, the good seats/sections will be gone anyway. So I don't see the benefit of announcing a tour early other than to avoid date collisions.

But yes, concert ticket prices suck. No question about that. But still, that doesn't stop me from seeing the gigs I want to see. Most artists I want to see will be done in 5 years anyway. Ozzy just stopped today. So I will ride this out. No matter the cost (well, I'm not paying 1000 $ for a ticket, not because I can't afford it, but because I would feel taken advantage off... though I have to tread that back a bit. This year, for the first time, I actually did buy a ticket for 1000 and 1700 $, though the second one came with a meet and greet and is a front row seat, the other just a front row seat). Luckily I can afford it.

Your head is in the clouds. Tickets have gotten more expensive, travel has gotten more expensive. Touring has gotten more expensive. The whole point is that the band can't wait too long to announce something because people have to be able to put money aside if they want to go to these things. It's not the same as it was even two years ago. They no longer have that luxury. Obviously their tickets don't cost thousands of dollars. That wasn't the point. The point was that Beyoncé can announce the show whenever she pleases and it would sell out because people would throw money at her. GNR has people that will do that, of course. But not even close to the same numbers as someone who is actually relevant. Not even in the same stratosphere. Relevance matters.

You can tell me to shove it all you want. You clearly think GNR is in some odd bubble world and if that's your safe zone, then good for you. Enjoy it. Doesn't really change anything that I've said. It's a reality. GNR should make a big stink when it comes to touring and new material. We know that to not be the case anymore. But it would help them in the long run.

Yeah. Whatever. Not everyone is as poor as you.
