Ticketmaster are absolutely to blame for much of it. Are you aware of the Platinum Artist policy?

In terms of GNR jacking prices - they’re charging pretty much the same as any other band. Def Leppard & Motley Crue are charging even more. At the end of the day, a partially reformed GNR is a bigger pull than Axl & Friends for the vast majority of people/fans - so the price reflects that. This isn’t a specific GNR issue. This is an industry issue IMO.

    Ticket prices everywhere are disgraceful.

Yes. I am. But Ticketmaster acts on behalf of the tour promoter. TM does what the tour promoter permits/wants them to do. TM is the middleman (obviously the fact that Live Nation merged with/owns Ticketmaster dilutes things a bit, but in general it's a company acting according to the tour promoter). Whatever extra profit TM generates, is not for TM to keep. And prices absolutely start with whatever the artist is getting as a guaranteed sum. Somehow everyone else need to make money too. And so the ticket price is high enough to make back what the artist gets + whatever is needed so everyone else will make a profit too (and not make it a total risk for everyone else). And whatever is made on top of what the artist is initially making, a cut of that goes to the artist too.

The fact that they are a bigger pull enables them to play stadiums instead of arenas. So they would get more money either way, without jacking up the fee they are asking for playing. There absolutely would be no reason to suddenly ask for more money, other than greed and the only way I excuse that greed is the fact that they give epic 3+ hour shows to somehow justify the added cost, compared to the years where it just was fake GNR. So they absolutely could have stuck to the prices they had and still make more money, due to bigger audiences.

It's basic rules of parenting. Unless you can see your child through a monitor, you don't leave their vocal range.

I don't go outside of my house into my gym if I can't see my 2.5 year old, because it only takes her a moment to get into trouble, and that's in a house that's designed to be as child safe as possible

Well, 4 couples, mostly physicians, so one would think, not stupid people, thought differently. Not for me to judge, just what it is.

Well, yes to those who accused the parents of murdering their child.

But criticisms can still be levelled for leaving their kids unattended for a long period of time so they could enjoy a bite out while on vacation.

Long period of time? Apparently they checked on those kids every half hour and were only 50 m away, across the pool between the appartment and the restaurant and everything went well, until their last night. I guess it's just unfortunate that apparently there was a sick scumbag becoming aware of them being gone every night. And who would really think that someone would snatch a kid from an appartment? In hindsight everyone is wiser and obviously people will say, how could they? in light of what happened.

Its why I roll my eyes when anyone other than Axl gives interviews regarding the band because none of them are in the driver's seat.

But no one gives interviews regarding the band. They give interviews regarding themselves and get asked about the band.

Well, just because you're a famous guitar player doesn't mean it's a pass to butchering the songs. 76 year old David Gilmour doesn't have to prove anything either.

On the other hand I understand. When Axl sings like shit, why shouldn't Slash play like shit? People are gonna buy tickets regardless right?

Well, that's your opinion. Majority seems to disagree. He plays those songs good enough.

True, but at least with Kiss or Motley crue i get to see the drum set flip over and rammstein will blow up a helluva lotta shit

Though both their shows are about an hour, give or take, shorter. I rather have a longer show, than flipping drum sets or pyro (or confetti :rofl-lol:). Oh well, in Rammstein's case, no pyro would suck, because it's a huge part of the show and they are great at it. The baby explosions at GNR shows are for children. No one else cares about that shit.

This plus he just can not play any of that material properly. He's had plenty of time and opportunities to prove otherwise since 2016, but either he is taking the piss on the material on purpose or he really is just a one trick pony poser on guitar. I think it's a mix of both. There's bedroom recorders on YouTube playing these solos with more heart and skills.

But the thing is, he doesn't have to prove anything and when he doesn't feel like playing it note for note, he won't and no one is gonna make him. He doesn't even play his own stuff note for note, so why would he do someone elses?

Another thing: After having such a grudge against him for so many years Axl is seemingly content with letting Slash be the spokesman of the band. Axl never talks or gives updates on the progress of the band. The captain of the ship has no direction outside touring and if he does its not communicated. Its also pretty nuts that in nearly 7 years together again we haven't had a joint Axl/Slash interview.

When would anyone ever get a chance to ask Axl something regarding GNR?? He doesn't do interviews. Slash does interviews about himself/conspirators. He's no spokesman. Just has his own life besides GNR.

Sadly, that's a universal thing across most bands/artists the size of Guns. I managed to get Beyonce tickets for my better half and her sisters, £300 each! Ticketbastard are the real bent fuckers in all this. The artists and management are just complicit. It stinks.

But with the likes of Beyonce it's less jarring. Prices just went up gradually tour after tour, but with GNR everyone of the alumni and "GNR" itself had decent prices in the years between '93 and '16 and we all kept them afloat, supporting their various prices. Then they get back together and boom, we have to pay ticketprices 3 times as high, than what they were before. That too me is the most annoying thing. There was no need to jack up prices like that. It should be enough for them that instead of arenas they now can play stadiums again an make more money per show. There was no need to also raise the fee they are getting on top of that. And no, it's not just Ticketmaster that is to blame for this. All the prices start with what the artist is getting. If an artist is making 3 mio per show, that dictates what ticketprices will be.

Say what you want pal, this is still a cash grab.

The band looks bored AF playing the same ol’ songs in the same ol’ order.

The most energy I’ve seen from them is when they play Absurd and HardSkool. At last! Something new to break the monotony!

    If only they’d release a few more…

A cash grab it will be, once they start playing 90 minute shows. As long as they play 3+ hours it surely is no cash grab.

I find it baffling that they're mounting a stadium tour without any announcement of the support acts.  Makes no sense unless the decision-making will be made later based on (lagging) ticket sales and demand.  Suggests that they want to low ball and money grab.  Just terrible tour management - such a surprise (not!).  Hottest stadium tour this year is Taylor Swift's - and she has support from a number of bands/artists who headline tours on their own.   It's greed, hubris, insanity or any combination of the three.

Geez. The criticising of this band by all these forum experts is getting beyond ridiculous now. Just anything to criticize, huh? Why is it baffling?? Who the hell buys 300 $ tickets because of support acts?? Who announces support acts the minute shows go on sale?? When have they announced support acts with the tour announcement? More often than not you have no clue who's gonna support until some weeks before the show. And really, it makes way more sense to see how the shows are selling, then they can decide where it would make more sense to maybe have a more profile support act. Also then they can make another press release some weeks down the line announcing the support acts. So they can twice draw attention to the tour.

So, really. It is none of the three. More often than not, support acts are announced sometime down the line and not when the tour gets announced.

What time do EE holders usually line up? What time is best to go to be front and center?

Like I said in Milano I got there at around 9:30 and was #44. But that's Italy. Germans probably are a little less crazy. Tako, who's probably the Queen of early entry, got there at around noon. And I think she still ended up in the front, like always.

Now EE for GA seems to be a thing too. Why would you pay a lot extra to get in early and stand behind everyone in the golden circle?

Yeah. It's totally ridiculous. And really, It saves you nothing. You still have to be at the stadium all day, because people getting there early give themselves numbers and generally, while walking in, you are monitored way more. You can't even run, like you usually do at concerts. So, you pay more, don't wanna screw up and end up not getting a benefit from paying more, so you get there even earlier, as opposed to get there at a time that is good for you and run like hell once doors open. And really, the difference between early entry and the usual way, being there once doors open, is 1 or 2 rows. But for that you pay twice as much money and are under more pressure to get a good spot or end up feeling like a fool.
