These are valid concerns for sure. I think it would be cool if they just went with 100% Bon Scott era songs. This would protect Axl from the crazy rasp on songs like Thunderstruck and it would also give the whole world (including the angry AC/DC fans) a chance to hear Angus play some deep cuts from the 1970's for the first time in decades.
You bring up an interesting point about general audience confusion regarding which band Axl is actually in. That said, GN'R could easily clear up this confusion with a good marketing blitz over the next 2 months. Not just billboards like they've done so far, but TV ads featuring Axl and Slash together, appearances on Kimmel/Fallon/Colbert, etc.
You can't appear on Kimmel with your band if you're in Lisbon, Portugal and they're in NY, LA, and Seattle!

Here's my take on it. I think it could end up being a great thing for the GNR tour but could also be risky for everything that GNR has been building in recent months. For example, if Axl comes out and bombs a few performances with AC/DC, it will be all over the internet within hours and the shows that are slow to fill might continue to have a difficult time selling. Worse, Axl could hurt his voice for is main gig. I see a few of you are saying it and others shooting the possibility down, but it could happen. A lot of the Back in Black and later stuff is challenging to sing. If we, the GN'R armchair band/tour managers are thinking about these possibilities, you've got to think that the people close to the actual tour have considered them too.
My biggest problem with the whole idea of Axl joining AC/DC was the timing for the official announcement. I think it should have been done two weeks ago or at least they should have waited until after the Coachella shows.. Even the second Coachella weekend would have been better for GN'R than breaking the news just before the show on Saturday. It still would have been a huge story but would not have overshadowed the reunion news. I've already talked to a few people who are confused. Not big fans like us but people who were considering going down to the San Diego show later this Summer. The all said "Eddie, what's going on with GNR? I thought there was a reunion tour but I just heard Axl's going on tour with ACDC instead? "
Did they reschedule concert dates? I think they did, although damage was probably minimal since agreements weren't signed until just before the dates were announced. Many ancillary contracts regarding touring are written to provide flexibility in the event of a cancellation. I suspect that Atlanta, Orlando, New Orleans, Houston, and Arlington were likely to have been rescheduled.

What fucking song is this. The Silversun Pickups certainly do suck.

I'm watching these crackheads on channel 1. I've never been more proud to be a GNR fan. I would kill myself if I had to be a fan of these guys.

You can use Periscope on computer and then chromecast it....of course you'd have to have a chrome cast....
Can I do the same with Apple TV?

Can you mirror from your phone to an app? That might be the best course of action.
You might be right. Now I just need to learn how to use Periscope. Old people like me aren't good with these new apps.

Good evening friends.
After watching the Youtube feed of Coachella, I'm glad I stayed home and away from that crowd. I don't see how any of these people I've seen on youtube are going to be interested in our heroes. ...a bunch of shitheads in weird clothes.
In any case, CAN ANYONE GIVE ME INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW I CAN WATCH THE FEED ON KODI/XMBC? Is there a way to watch Periscope on Kodi via addon or one of the live TV apps? I'm relatively new to this system and think it's got to have some kind of magical power to let me see the concert from my sofa.
Thanks for any assistance you can provide.

There IS truth to the Wembley Stadium rumo(u)red dates (mate). Two dates are in the works right now, but there may only be one depending on ticket demand. I haven't heard three as previously reported.

Love reading back through this thread knowing what we do now.. So YES folks, we got the hybrid and they are playin Chinese democracy songs.
People didn't like the news when yours truly announced they were playing CD tunes at rehearsal, but I think they sound fine in the set list. Like everyone else, I would like to see Axl switch them out with slash solo tunes.
-
I just hope they make it to the stage by the time their scheduled stream time begins. That would suck to tune in only to watch a bunch of pissed off hipster types standing around.

Del James doesn't count. It's like state run media in North Korea. Kim Jong Axl has final edit.

In other business, you know who the biggest GNR fan of all of us is? The singer from Alice in Chains. He was standing next to me after their set the other night while GNR were on and his camera phone was filming the entire time. If it were 1991 and Axl weren't on crutches, that dude would have been seriously hospitalized.

This just in.... Danko Jones will be opening for Guns N' Roses on North American Tour this summer.
Just kidding. I'm skipping coachella to rest up for Mexico City. How do I watch tomorrow night. This feed from the coachella website seems to only allocate 30 minutes or so to GNR.

@Eddie Money Any word on if they'll be optioning those second shows and/or when it would be if they do?
I don't see it happening anywhere. It doesnt seem like the seats are selling fast enough. I first thought the Chicago and New York dates would get second shows but who knows. The original map is slightly different than the one they finally released. You may have seen the story about St. Louis where the publicist said that they were still working on the routing and planning as the dates came out. This is all true. St. Louis, for example was never on the original list that I saw. Who knows? Maybe they did that for publicity because it would get people talking in St. Louis and the buzz could help sell Chicago and KC? If that was the strategy, it was a very good one.

Have you heard any rumblings at all of any new songs in the near future?
No. Only Eddie Trunk knows if they've recorded anything or not.

Actually, it seemed that the Las Vegas standing area was larger than advertised and not because of the missing runway. The chairs actually started further back than the map indicated. In basketball arena terms, it seemed that the seats started closer to center court.

I have no concrete knowledge to share. I hope so.

You would be surprised at the big country stars that cite GNR as a major influence, Jason Aldean, Carrie Underwood , etc... The Stones played Nashville last summer and had Brad Paisley open! Come to think of it Jason Aldean would be the perfect opener, his band is killer and are more rock sounding than country, he has actually covered GNR in the past!
Jason Aldean sucks and is as fake country as you can get. Chris Stapleton is the real deal. Did you see where he's the only artist playing all three weekends on the Empire Polo Fields grounds - Coachella festival both weekends and Stagecoach Festival the third weekend. He writes his own songs and they sound fucking great. He's got a killer bluesy meets classic country sound. Having Jason Aldean open for GNR the equivalent to them allowing a manufactured pop act like One Direction to open.

NWA? That wouldn't surprise me and would be my personal pick, but they haven't even officially re-formed yet or decided who would take Eazy's role.
I'm not claiming to know. It is who I think should be there.

I like the ones Duff used on the tour in 2014 - Duff O.G. GN'R
-
NWA, Alice in Chains, or The Darkness in the north, midwest, and west. Chris Stapleton in the Southeast and Texas.

A lot of people that went to shows and didn't know much about the new guys always said they thought that he was always out of place in GnR. I heard comments like, "What's up with the other keyboard player? Why is he even up there? Why did Axl hire a transvestite to play synths? Is that George from The Wedding Singer?"
Do you really want to hu-rt me? Do you really want to make me cry

There should have been Tracy and Roberta statues in the pop-up GN'R museum at the Troubadour. Legendary status for sure.
