  1. they don't have a setlist, it's completely spontaneous.
  2. my guess is that Axl would never release music under the Gn'R name that he doesn't actually want to release. I believe that would be beneath him as a musician/artist. also, I think the chances are low for any friction between Axl, Slash, and Duff when it comes to ego or disagreements about the release of more Gn'R music simply cause I think Slash and Duff knew what they were agreeing to when they chose to join Axl's Gn'R. Every member of the "big 3" is getting something they want out of it and it seems like they're older and wiser now and know better than to try to push Axl to do something he doesn't want to do. I think Slash and Duff understand that and the rest of the current Gn'R lineup will probably do whatever is asked of them to the best of their abilities cause they're all pros and maybe they don't want to let Axl down. as a band, Gn'R seems to be at a really good place right now when it comes to how well they seem to get along with each other imo. Axl performing Coma, a few Locomotive performances, and Slither and Slash and Duff playing Chinese tunes was also a good indication that things are stable within the band.
  3. being a perfectionist and releasing what some may consider work that is of low quality are not mutually exclusive. Chinese Democracy sounds like an album that was created by a perfectionist to me and Axl might not feel the same way as you or others about the quality of Absurd and Hardskool. this shit keeps repeating itself, like it's some sort of a sure thing that if a song was written and released by a perfectionist, that it somehow guarenteed to be a masterpiece or even any good. It doesn't work that way, it's more about a personality trait that is born out of insecurity.
  4. but Gn'R is not exactly reliable when it comes to delivering on their promises so maybe it will be a good idea to not expect anything until it actually happens. Besides, Axl didn't promise a follow up to Chinese in a very long time now. His latest comment on releasing new music was that he'd love to do it but soon is still not the word. that was in 2016, and only 2 old tunes were released so I think it's better to look at their actions instead of believing everything band members say will happen cause Axl seems to do shit for himself, not for us and keeps the right to change his mind until the very last moment.
  5. but there is still enough ability for Axl to generate enough demand for many people to want to attend a gig with him as the singer. Not sure what you mean by your first sentence here: art/music is about self expression, that was what I meant. also, with a guy like Axl that almost never releases his music, if Gn'R ends its touring for good, then maybe we won't get anything at all. It is not like in his "reclusive years" we got much from him when it comes to his music and I highly doubt he'll just go on a solo book tour all of a sudden or get some sort of motivation to release more music just because he'd have more time, surely we know better than that by now so there's a chance we'll end up with even less and again, why take away something that so many people still want in their lives (Gn'R live shows) when it's one of the only things Axl still seems to agree to be a part of when it comes to public consumption of his product.
  6. but sports is not like music/art so ability is not the only factor, it's also self expression, live and in the studio. There is still value in an artist's work even long after they've peaked and can't technically stay at the same level as they once were at. This is why there is still demand for what Gn'R can still provide and it brings joy to many people around the world. there is no need for Gn'R to end just because you deem them not good enough to continue anymore cause, like I said, all it takes for you to get what you want from it is a personal choice when it comes to following them, if at all, and to what extent.
  7. why do you wish Axl to retire from live performances? if the live shows are too weak for you/boring and the not releasing albums thing makes it not fun for you anymore, you can just stop following Gn'R. (correct me if I'm wrong)
  8. I don't see Axl's current diminished vocal ability as a problem that needs what I consider to be an extreme solution, like singing mostly in his lower register. I also don't think people will pay the kind of money they are paying now (I'm talking casual Gn'R fans) if he stopped using his full range.
  9. a talented hoarder like Axl, who had very talented people come up with ideas that he can turn into complete songs for him for years and has a knack for taking a good idea and making it even better, sometimes much better is bound to have some unreleased material that is worth a listen imo, and his honest recognition in the China Exchange interview about how limited the Gn'R catalog is, gives me some hope that he'll maybe release more material at some point in the future before Gn'R is over, even considering his history of almost never releasing his music in the last 30 plus years, but I'm not hung up on it, even if Gn'R is my favorite band, it's just music and there's nothing I can do to get Axl to do something that he doesn't want to do.
  10. yea I should probably stop drinking. Fortunately, there is no pink onesie. (audiences at rock gigs haven't changed that much) Sorry about that.
  11. I'd like to help you with this, but I don't really care about opening bands and I presume you already know what your options are. You're not going to experience it the same way if you don't get the golden ring ticket, but it sounds like only you can decide what is the best option for you. the motherfuckers charge a lot for water and beer, but if it's going to be hot, my obvious suggestion is to not push it physically. Maybe think about what you're willing to and can endure and your priorities, and I know the price of water is expensive as shit but my suggestion is to not fuck with that and drink when you need to. Good luck, I hope you'll have fun. maybe I'll see you there (I will be wearing a pink dolphin onesie costume so very easy to recognize)
  12. btw, it says in the ticketmaster website in my country and also on the official Gn'R site that the show will be on June 5 (on a Monday) and not June 6 like in your post which is a Tuesday.
  13. I think Axl was more popular, but I don't hate DJ, I just think that other than the casual fans, which I get are most Gn'R fans, the hardcore fans didn't embrace DJ as a real part of Gn'R. I don't think he was a good fit for the band personally, and he seems to be more style than substance. maybe it's my own flawed perception of what I expect a Gn'R guitar player to be able to bring to the table, but I think he just wasn't good enough to join Gn'R, or at least I think there were probably many other guitar players that could have been a better fit. if you compare Fortus and how he fits in Gn'R and accepted, maybe my opinion will become clearer. I do believe he could have created a good Gn'R album with Axl and his image was more in line with Gn'R compared, say, to Bumble. in general, I think every lead guitar player must have an x factor about them, cause Slash preceded all those players before the reunion. Bucket, Robin, and Bumble all brought something unique to them, even with some limitations they had, while DJ had a good ear for melody and his '80's image if we're talking live shows. his ability to write a catchy tune in retrospect wasn't relevant as Axl chose to not use any of it in the end, but yeah, casuals seem to didn't mind DJ and even like him.
  14. just guessing, but I think DJ, with how most of the Gn'R fanbase didn't really connect with him, was never going to share a stage with Slash in a Gn'R show and be exposed like that for comparison between the two and to possibly piss bottles thrown at him nightly and possibly also molotov cocktails.
  15. you seem to be a very sad individual. Good luck to you in getting your head out of your ass.
  16. true, but with how expensive tickets are nowdays, many people who enjoy attending live shows have to choose between attending multiple Gn'R shows to maybe attend just one so they'll be able to afford tickets to shows by other bands.
  17. I don't have one favorite Guns show, I have my favorites when it comes to a specific performance of a Gn'R song. Like Estranged from Oklahoma '92 or Better from Download '06 for example. Nightrain from Rock Am Ring '06 and Boston '02, The Blues from Leeds '02, Boston, Pittsburgh, Godfather from Tokyo '92, Madagascar Budapest '06, etc.
  18. also never a good idea to talk about how someone in Gn'R lied after starting a post giving Motley Crue as an example with the whole contract thing bullshit they did, swearing that it was going to be their last tour, raking in the money cause their fans thought that would be the last chance to see them live and then just doing another tour a few years later. If there is an ideal example of a scumbag lying band, surely it's MC.
  19. lied about what? and how do you know what will happen in the future in regards to Gn'R?
