Mate that was awesome to watch. Well done. Love those Sabian Cymbals... I want to save up and get some of those.
I've only been playing drums for a little while, and I'm pretty shit, so I would love to be able to play any GnR songs !
Post some more !

I'm with everyone else - Beggar's. It's probably my favourite. Fucking brilliant.
-
More like gaydiohead.
Also, this isn't a matter of thinking U2 sucks or not, that's your opinion. But, in terms of the OP question, it's fact.
No, it's not. Over the past 30 years AC/DC are the biggest band.
Smart Girl Although ACDC surpass U2 with their longevity - they've been at it for more like 40 years.
I remember when Black Ice was released and the ACDC boys were being interviewed. BJ was asked about his charity work and all he said was that it keeps him busy but he doesnt like to bang on about it like fucking Bono does! Or something to that effect.
Anyway, being an Aussie i can't help be a little biased !

It's a great question ! I reckon Axl could pull it off. I guess he has many vocal-free songs in the old secret vault that probably sound great on their own. It's pretty fuckin' ballsy to put one on an album though - so I don't see it ever happening.
Metallica have done a few and they are all brilliant.
I guess an Instrumental has to be a fantastic arrangement of dynamic music that pretty much tells a story all by itself. Axl's up to it.
Again - cool thread

I got it on release. Really recommend everyone does - its easily the best and most comprehensive GNR book out there on the Appetite era.
You got it on release ? From what ? Release from jail ?
Just kidding HV - you are right - it is easily the best GnR book around. From any era...

Sounded really good. As someone who tries to play the drums I must say it is always nice to hear Steven's distinctive style.
Well done to him and his band !

I saw 4 of the from the side. Giants Stadium Paradise City Video shoot 8/16/88, Santa Monica Civic 8/30/86, Rip magazine party 10/13/98, and Arlington Theater 10/23/86
Awesome !

There was a time where that could have worked up till 2007 and I did put in some effort in the past but now Axl would not trust me to be involved. I think he thinks that somehow I'm more on Slash's side which I not. I have always
been right in the middle. I understand why they spilt Axl still thinks that they didn't have to split. I understand why Slash did or said some of the things he did and Axl does not so that is just one of the reasons why Axl wouldn't trust me. The other problem is Axl doesn't want to try and
work it out with Slash, he would rather stay as far away from Slash as he can. Axl would have to be willing to work something out first and then you would need a good middle man. Slash already gave up on the idea of anything ever happening between them after the Rock N' Roll
Hall Of Fame. So before you had some interest from Slash to do some gigs with the old band but now I think he has moved on knowing that Axl doesn't want to do that. I think from Axl's point of view, Slash has said or did so many bad things to him and never apologized for them is one of the reasons why Axl won't budge.
Marc just curious what do you think what will happen if they ever run into each other ?
It could go either way, Axl turns around and leaves or they end up talking.

Yes I understand, but I was talking about Slash being the bigger man, and doing a gesture of good will to show that.
As far as I see it, Slash has some issues with how some things went down too. So I think he feels if anything they both just forget whatever
happened in the past and start over. Axl sees it differently
It speaks volumes of them both two grown up
men can`t get over their feud bury hatchet and be at least civil with each other
People change. Even families who are bonded by blood can have relationship breakdowns and long-standing feuds. It's sad but just a part of life. I'm guessing Axl & Slash would have respected and cared for each other deeply at some point to be so hurt and the opposite these days. Would that be a fair assumption Marc?
-
It is great, thanks. What, Marc, was the single greatest gig of GN'R's you have witnessed?
I don't really have one, all of the ones I've seen were good for different reasons.
Marc, did you ever get to watch their shows from the side of up on the stage?
-
Thanks for the updates guys !
-
I will nominate 'Cheers'. I know it's an Oldie but a Goodie
Or 'Moonlighting ' - anyone remember that one? Bruce Willis ...
I'm nearly forty so tv in the 80's was the best
-
The problem is it was no ones fault. Shit happens people chance.
Exactly. All people change. Everyone has their faults and no-one is perfect.
It seems like GnR became an enormous and very complex beast. I remember reading ( or hearing ?) a quote from one of the guys years ago stating that in their most successful period that Guns N Roses had well over 100 people working for the band. That's a lot of people and personalities and stress.
Marc - Did you sense a change in the band before it started to spiral out of control with the growing popularity and pressures on the band?
It seems to be reported a lot that Izzy was one who disliked that huge scale of popularity...
-
Agreed, we are extremely fortunate Marc does this for the fans. This is the best section of the forum without a doubt.
-
If people can't appreciate the great music that both of them create then that really is their own loss. I don't know either Axl or Slash personally at all - and thats where people lose the plot. They think that because they have been a lifelong fan of GnR they can formulate opinions and judgements based on very little facts. People really have no right to have the attitude they carry on with some times. When it all boils down Axl & Slash and those that were involved in the early days are the only people that know shit. They're all only human and unfortunately stuff happens - it's just life.
-
What about Dave Lombardo - his speed, power & precision is impressive !
-
I have to stick up for him. I was lucky to meet him recently and chat with him and he was lovely. Very friendly and funny too! I guess big stars are only human and can have good days and bad days.
-
I hope they come here to Brisbane. They would easily sell-out a show or two at the Entertainment Centre. No worries at all.

Happy Bday DJ !

Don't you be fucking with me Gunns... !
Teasing me with a false report on an Aussie GnR Tour would not be good for my mental health.
don't shoot the messenger
looks like im catching a plane and heading south
Ha! Great news if true. I'll be on that plane heading south too. Surely this time a proper Aussie Tour hey? I remember at the end of the Sydney show in Dec 2010 Axl said something about seeing us again soon. Makes me wonder if he has been planning this long touring schedule all along? Like all this worldwide touring has been organised behind closed doors for a while. Is he deliberately getting this extensive & great global exposure (and making money of course) to have a proper crack at releasing new music and restarting this new phase in his career & life? Who knows

Hi Marc, just curious if Axl always had this different awake/sleep cycle that he has these days (and for a long time) ?
Was he often asleep during the day and awake at night and did it affect the band back in the very early days?
Cheers, Scott

Guys don't worry about me. The truth is If I really needed Axl for something other than GNR stuff, He would be there for me. He is just disappointed in the things that I do and say regarding the old band. Let it go give him a break, He has some very strong emotions from that time and doesn't really know how to deal with it and doesn't want to revisit it.
Marc I guess would you say Axl has some ' trust ' issues probably relating to his difficult childhood ? If he does then I guess it is totally understandable...
I hope, like a lot of your supporters, that Axl one day gets better, clears his head and you and he can be in contact again.

I can't think of too many good Aussie sitcoms right now. Maybe Kath and Kim, Summer Heights High ? What about Mother and Son ? ( Now I'm showing my age )
-
Different type of humour.
Or lack thereof.
Ooh, what is that? A smart arse remark? Hang on a minute, weren't you the guy who started a 'This is how a forum works' thread? Instructing all forum users against the indulgence of derailing and generally being smart arses. Hmmm, yes that's what I thought. A touch of hypocrisy there, don't you think?
Absolutely Fabulous
Some Mothers Do Ave Em
Fawlty Towers
The Inbetweeners
Father Ted
Benny Hill
Are You Being Served?
One that was on ABC last year and I can't for the life of me remember the name
The Worst Week Of My Life
Can't remember any more but there's heaps.
Well duh. Anyone that doesn't find those sitcoms funny should be shot. Especially Some Mothers.
No need to be an arrogant fucker. You were the one who asked the question, I wasn't even going to list any but did so because you asked. There's no right or wrong answer when you ask someone what they like.
But since we're on the topic I forgot to add Little Britain, The Office (UK only!) and Extras. Still can't remember the name of the show I saw last year on the ABC. It was great though.
Little Britain is very good. Any Aussie shows you can think of ?
Marc, did Slash, Duff and co invite you to the HOF event?

Can't you train someone up into your role to give you a break ?
You seem to work too hard
