  1. Oh My God is better than everything Slash has released since GNR with the exception of Anastasia.

    This includes Contraband.

You can't be serious... I love Oh My God - I think it's a terrific song but Slash's talent, style and sound are a class above anyone in my opinion.

VR was a great band and Slash's solo albums are both fantastic. Maybe you need your hearing checked ??? No really........

Haha, sorry but to the idiot who said OMG was better than any Slash song...even taking Slash out of the equation...OMG is a shitty fucking song...truth. 90% of Slash songs since 1996 are better than that shit. Try harder next time pal.

I bet you like Bad Rain.

Yeah I do like Bad Rain.

I just don't see how you can love Slash in Old Guns N Roses albums but don't like anything he has done since then?

Doesn't make sense. I reckon he has gotten better on the guitar and continues to put out regular and extremely high quality music. But we are all different :)

  2. Hey Rovim - show a bit of decency dude, and some respect. Marc was there, he helped the band immensely. The book is fantastic and in my opinion in no way has been detrimental to Axl's desire to forge a new identity for GnR.

Promoting Chinese Democracy (even just a little bit) when it was released, proper band photos of the current line-up, interviews and ultimately making new music with the new line-up is much more important than worrying about Marc's book. If anything Reckless Road is a great advertisement for an incredible band.

Marc put so much hard work into that book, and he deserves to get the satisfaction out of all those years of blood, sweat and tears.

  3. Regarding the guy who equated early Two and a Half Men,etc with Nickelback...

I've never got this sort of logic...I can certainly understand not personally liking that show or band...the abject hatred for both by many seems really odd though and almost culturally conformist to me. I mean not liking either is one thing, but when so many people act like it's the pit of the earth you have to ask yourself what the F is going on here? Either are worse than many other things in the public but both have many haters...my theory is some people are just easily duped into hating whatever is the current fad to hate without logic to differentiate the subject from many other things. Fucking lemmings imo.

Two and a Half Men is crap. All the jokes revolve around Sex. He can't get his dick up - oh, hahaha. He is thinking of his mum when he's screwing a chick - oh, hahaha. He screwing a surfer girl called Summer - oh, hahaha. Boring , unimaginative writing.

Give me some fuckin' Soup Nazi anyday !!!

  4. It's a no-brainer really. Just about any songs.

Axl is such an amazing lyricist and song-writer, and Slash is the best at constructing amazing solos that absolutely fit perfectly of the individual song.

Both of them elevate each other's work to another level entirely...

  5. Amazing song Axl`s songwiting highlight never understood all this love and fascination of demo version it`s very cluttered and disjointed Bumble`s solos are much better then Brian May`s

I totally agree dude... I much prefer the final version. Absolute Masterpiece of a song. No-one on the planet can write a song like Axl Rose.

  6. Hi Marc,

Just wanted to ask you about the L.A scene when GnR started really hitting the big time.

Were bands who were level with them, or even ahead of them, in terms of success and popularity, such as Aerosmith / The Cult / Motley Crue etc... pissed off at GnR out of frustration and jealousy? Or were they really cool and supportive about it all ?

Did it change the dynamic between bands, or individuals in other bands, and the Guns' boys because they were once the up and coming band supporting these other acts and then all of a sudden GnR were massive and headlining stadiums. Any particular incidents or individuals that stood out for any hard feelings about Guns N Roses' successes ? Alternatively were there any individuals or bands that stood out with being really gracious and supportive?

    Cheers, Scott

  7. marc, did you watch the benefit show on live stream? what did you think?

I would have but I have been too busy at work right now, we just added about 50 items to the menu. So I have to work long hours until everyones learns it. I will check it out soon on youtube

Can't wait to check it out mate! I'll be coming over from Aus to LA sometime over the next few months and I'm planning on stopping by. :)

HV - I did that a few years ago and it was well worth the trip all the way from Oz , the food was delicious !

Have a great time over there... :)

  8. Holy shit Marc - what a list ! I got goosebumps just reading through it !

I can sense through your descriptions that you have experienced some immense pride throughout the years watching your friends become so talented and conquering the world. Just Amazing....

Can i further ask you a couple of questions ? ( I could ask you a million questions but I must refrain :) )

    1) Do you remember where you exactly were when you heard AFD first time in it's official recorded form? Where was it, who were you with and was it on tape or record etc... ?

    2) When you caught the Mic off Axl was it just pure luck or did he see you and pick you out ?

    Cheers,

    Scott

  9. Just dump all the gear in Australia, then send all the gnr crew and band back hope for the holi's, then come back after - simples

Totally with you there Gunns. In fact they can dump their gear in my backyard. I'll look after it for them and then they can start their Aussie tour in Brisbane. :)

  10. Hahahaha. Yes, this was exactly what I was asking about. So you are telling me you get that now more than the 80's/90's? Amazing! I guess the book gave you more exposure?? You scored points for the after life not giving in there Marc!!

The devil was knocking but I didn't let her in.

Well done Marc, your'e a strong man. !

  11. Can't believe there coming so close to Australia and most likely (due to time restrictions/Xmas/etc) won't be touring here shortly after, I'm not flying to indonesia either  !

It does state something about it will be a one-off stop to South-east Asia area, so it's not looking too good for us Aussies :(

  12. 28 years ago today was the first LA Guns show with Axl in the band at the Troubadour October 5, 1984 Axl asked me to shoot this show and I had to sneak away from Slash to do it because Slash would have been pissed that I was helping Axl and Tracii. Hollywood Rose had just broke up and Tracii was a rival of Slash when they were in High School

    28 years - that's amazing. Such a cool & rare photo !

    Thank you for posting it.

  13. Hey Marc,

Got a signed copy of your book off ebay, with one of the alternate covers, awesome read and pics, thanks!

Had a few questions though about that final Velvet Revolver tour in the spring of 2008, if you know:

How bad was the tension with Scott and the rest of the guys, did you hear anything from the guys on that or have any stories?

Was the tour really that close to ending sooner than expected or with a different singer, (word was Royston Langdon was almost in) as far as you know?

And lastly, I remember listening to a Howard Stern interview with Scott Weiland where he mentioned that all of their wives were involved in the business at the end of the band. What exactly does he mean by that and can you add any insight to that?

    Thanks!

I remember buying tickets to see VR play in my home town of Brisbane, Australia, around the time they were going through troubled times. They cancelled the tour and I was immensely dissapointed. Then they rebooked it again for about 6months later - got tickets again and then cancelled again ! It was reported that Scott was going through drug/health problems at the time. Such a shame.

Marc - do you think Slash has the desire to ever get this band back up and running ?
