  1. Ron, how you can listen to Sticky Fingers and Exile on Main Street and still say The Beatles is beyond me. Haha, sorry I'm a hardcore Stones guy...

haha, I hear ya. But then I hear Sgt Pepper & Magical Mystery Tour & the cellos earfuck me....

I'm with SoFine with this one. Add to that Beggars Banquet and Let it Bleed and it's game over Beatles !!!

Please try to ignore the Wankers on here Ron. I've learnt to do that over time. So many immature little attention whores sitting behind the computer screens with no life.

I have recommended in the past that a few people here take a walk through a children's cancer ward at their local hospital to gain some perspective in life !

    Anyway, take care...

  2. i think after the show if you wait probably at least an hour he will come out and sign autographs

Maybe 1.5 - 2 hrs after the show, enough time for them to have a shower, change clothes, chill out etc... then he might go to the back gate/entrance of the venue to sign autographs.

I met him a few weeks ago - he was lovely. It was so nice to see Slash up close and looking very healthy and happy !

    Good luck.

    :)

  3. Sometimes he goes to the fans after the show out the back you might need to wait 30-60mins

I saw Slash and the Conspirators play in Brisbane a couple of weeks ago. Awesome show. About 1 - 2 hours after the show had finished Slash was standing out by the back gate signing Autographs for people.

There was a big line-up of fans ( easily in excess of 100 people ) and he stood there well after midnight signing things. Extremely thoughtful of him to do that.

Credit to the man, he was so nice to meet.

  4. August 30,1985 at the Stardust Ballroom this gig was really the first one that was ever video taped but it was not done by me and the guy that did it died over 20 years ago. There is now a Home Depot there. Where did the time go? it seams like 10 years ago. The band already wrote "Jungle" a month before and put together "Rocket Queen" about 2 weeks later. The band had no idea who they really were at this point.

Amazing photo's - thank you for sharing...

  5. Very nice!

Well done. That's all that really needs to be said. Don't need to analyze their body language, shoot-down their personal fashion sense, or compare the individuals in the photos in any derogatory way like some fools do.

Great photo - thanks for posting !

    :)

  6. Guy is a class act. Nice and very humble. Glad you got the chance to hang with him for a bit.

    I agree.

I can't understand why people are negative about him. I guess they are just jealous, sad people. ?

  7. Wow - amazing ! Thanks for sharing such a story from an intimate moment of your life.

Glad Axl came through for you, but then again I can only imagine the amount of good you did for them all so that's nice to have good come back to you.

  8. Hi Marc,

I remember reading in your book that Axl played at your wedding. That's a surreal thought for someone like me that this occured :)

Can you remember and share many details about it - e.g Was Axl reluctant to do it, or happy? Were the people attending your wedding amazed by it?

I think you mentioned that he played a bit of November Rain and Estranged, and maybe some other tunes?

  9. I knew he was going to get some bad press over it. He also knocks him self with small town white boy. The song is real and Axl experienced the things he wrote about. So all it is is just a true story. He had big ball doing do it. He was also misinterpreted by a lot of people.

Been to the Greyhound terminal in LA. Once. I can attest to its scum factor.

If he got off the Amtrak in Union Station, doubt we'd have the song.

Never read this in the books - were there any Tijuana trips with you, Slash and Steven?

I've also been to the Greyhound Terminal in L.A. Scared the shit out of me. I was the victim of racially motivated abuse not just there but also many other bus terminals and other places across America when I was a backpacker. Not very nice but the Hispanics and African- Americans who threatend me probably had there reasons.

It's a controversial and sensitive topic. I think Axl is an extremely honest artist. Like it or not he had massive balls to write about his experiences.

I for one always enjoyed the fact that Axl poured out his heart and soul into his songs no matter what the song topic.

  10. Yes he was very humble and a bit shy and a very nice guy. Also a very good guitar player

Can I ask your opinion on whether you felt he was a good fit for the band?

I always struggled with the fact my favourite band had a guitarist that wore a bucket on his head and played with nun-chucks! I know he is a fabulous guitarist as I have some of his solo work but I always thought of GnR as a more organic, Stones-type band and I saw with BH and Robin it was becoming more slip-knot like ...

    If that makes any sense?

Anyway, I love the current line-up.

Well it's true the image was very different. It hard to find people that might look the part and also be a fit with the music. Bucket was very different but one thing for sure he didn't try to copy anything form anyone, he was who he was.

He certainly is a unique individual. I must say I have loved his work on GnR material. I would love to see a Buckethead solo show live. I just missed out by two days when in Cleveland a couple of years ago. I also missed out on seeing Slash play at the Viper room by one night, and Motörhead by a couple of nights in Anaheim. Not a very well planned trip on my part. These kinds of shows don't come to Australia too often so I really should have been more organized :(

  11. I play a little guitar. I never really got any good at it. I think it's the way my mind works, I couldn't seem to move to the next level. I used to jam with Slash a lot at my house from 1981 to 1984. I would play a a rhythm and Slash would let loose on it. even back in 1981 when he was just 16 years old Slash had it going on. Nothing but goose bumps.

Awesome, that would be some incredible memories! Slash does come across as very natural - like the guitar is an extension of his arms... Also, it never ceases to amaze me how many brilliant solos he comes up with and that fit the context of the song perfectly.

    Thanks for sharing.

  13. Erin didn't want to do porn audio where no one could be sure if it was real or fake, but she was cool with doing the "It's So Easy" video?? Did you ever find out what Erin said or did when she found out Adriana banged Axl? I don't get how Axl could be so possessive of her and be a slut. I think in your book, one of the breakups was mentioned during one of the shows. Were Axl and Erin on the outs at the time he was recording the song?

I'm sure b/c of your association with the band, there were groupie offers, plus Steven seemed like the "sharing is caring" type, would you say he had it the easiest to hooking up with girls over the other guys, even before GNR? I think once the heroin infiltrated the band, it's kind of like what Tyler said about Aerosmith, they cared more about the dope than the girls, and by the time Aero & Guns hooked up and toured, Tyler was making up for lost time.

One of the greatest things that could ever happen is if there was a "Making of AFD" documentary, and included clips of Axl "directing" the session.

Did anyone in GNR ever borrow the video camera to make their own homemade movies?

And were you at the Kinison "Wild Thing" video shoot? The stories on that one were a room of out of control guys. Did you ever get to know Sam Kinison?

I used to go to the Rainbow in 1984 with Steven and after 20 minutes he would be gone. Hooked up with a girl and off they went.

The manager of the rainbow told me some cool stories about Slash. Do you have any for us?

Before we were 21 years old, Slash used to be able to mess with our ID's by using chock and a pencil to change the birthdate from 1965 to 1963

Ha, nice one... I remember the Manager telling me a story about one night that Slash had a fight with a girlfriend inside and threw the salt, or the pepper, into one of the stained-glass windows. He said he got upset at Slash at the time but in general he said Slash and Axl were nice young men ! You must of seen some interesting things Marc - those would have been crazy times hey ?

  14. I don't even have an Ipod. I'm stuck in the 70's. I have 100 cd changer in my house and I just hear the radio in the car and I have a 8 cd changer in the car that still has the same cds since 1994

Ha ! At least you aren't still listening to tapes. :)

So then the big question is - what CDs are in the car?

Stones It's Only Rock n' Roll plus other old stones songs

best of, AFD with a few from lies and Shadow Of Your Love and Heartbreak Hotel,

    UYI best of, VR Contraband,

Highway To Hell/Back n' Black mix,

    UFO Strangers In The Night,

Frontrunner demo which was my son's band

Iron Maiden best of (for My wife)

Somehow I still have David Bowie changes

There is Also room for one cd that goes right into the player. Thats the one that gets used the most. Right now System of a Down best of is inside and in my car I have about 100 cds to pick from to put in.

    Cool taste in music Marc.

In my car I have the Stone's Sticky Fingers + Beggars Banquet , ACDC's TNT, AFD , UYI's + CD, and Gary Clark Jr Bright Lights EP...

    Thanks for the reply !
