I think having all these different versions ultimately has helped us understand and appreciate the album and era a thousand times more though. Imagine if we just had that album, no leaks. Would there be as many of us here still on the forum?

I think the general consensus seems to be the earlier versions of the tracks were far superior. Maybe aside from If The World. Look at the title track. My god that bass. Twangy and fat and just so upfront. The double snare hits. The shorter intro. Buckets solo is nice though so maybe the ideal version is the 2007 leak, although it doesn't have the slap of the 2001 mixes.

The timing of it all made me think there was more to the locker discs leak...

I see the classic "insider" style is still around. Something so sad about a fully grown adult sat in their bedroom pretending to be from the label or have exclusive info to wind up the fans. Really very cringey. Like last year, a supposed tracklist printed on a piece of paper. Think of the guy actually sitting down and making that on word, printing it and taking the pic and uploading it. The settlement with Azoff finished the Chinese era off it seemed between 2010 and 11 legs. When Axl returned he was in terrible shape, looked bored and obviously hadn't rehearsed. The tour was something they had to do as part of the settlement and any intention of getting CD2 out had gone.

After Ron's accident things really went downhill. I was always surprised Axl and TB have him what seemed like free reign to criticise the band, the touring and operation in general. He made some pretty sarcastic and petty comments over the last 3 years until 2014 about the constant touring and lack of new music. He was happy to stay and keep getting paid though.

It'd be great to know why Robin is still on Perhaps, for all of 3 seconds. I'm fairly sure it's some kind of in joke, referencing us on the forum how a lot of people were saying "I hope Robin and Bucket are still on it somewhere", so Axl has gone "you want Robin? Here you go"

Had it have come out in 2002 I don't think anything would have changed trajectory wise. Axl was in a bad place 2002 it seems and I think the pressure and criticism was just too much. The tour would have ended still and Axl would have disappeared. Bucket would have left etc. 2006 on the other hand, the lost opportunity. To this day not getting Better out as a single in 2006 is one of their biggest mistakes. The momentum was there, people were excited in 06 and the band on fire. Better was finished. It could have been a huge hit.

I think what this thread hits home is the difference the gap in touring from 2010 to 11 made. Axl returns at Rio bloated, out of practice, the band became sloppy and the whole vibe had changed in to a never ending nostalgia act. 2010 he had such venom and a drive. Like he was trying to prove himself. Whatever changed between 2010 and 11 obviously effected him and killed nu guns, the remaining few years in hindsight were just visiting each country around the world one last time.

Omg was on an alt setlist around 2018. If it was real, it would suggest it's a song they've worked on. This should have said we're getting, not not getting!

I wasn't aware we knew about the General before Bach's comments? It's deffinately not one of the earliest we knew about. That would be the title track, IRS, Oklahoma, TWAT, TII and a few others all prior to the first gig in 2001.

I have had a General themed dream, a few years ago I think when the locker leaks were happening and Guns were obviously on my mind enough to cause a dream about them. I was in the studio with handlebar moustache era Axl and Pitman and they both said "so you wanna hear some new music then". Popped the General on but it was bizarre, like a 90s euro pop song. Vengaboys or Aqua esq. I didn't know what to say as I didn't want to upset Axl so told him it was the best thing I've ever heard. He seemed very smug about the whole thing.

Then again you were lucky to get Out To Get Me on that tour, I think that was played only a handful of times. Scraped was played one night too, quite random.

I've often thought this. Blurting out "put Soul Monster out" to Axl. I can imagine him chuckling and making a vague comment like "one day", but I don't think he'd be annoyed.

Changing the subject away from the digital release thing, do we reckon a Bucket and Robin version will leak. Was it ever accepted that any hoarders had a leak?
