  1. This band and this management is fully capable of releasing artwork with so many errors
  2. People like you just don't get that the guitar playing is a game changer when listening to GNR. It was always about Axl and Slash basically and if you change this formular it just isn't the same. It's ok to some, others might even prefer it, but it's a different kind of thing and it's more than reasonable that some people, me included, are excited about the new tracks because it's a chance to have something of this magic back. Unfortunately it doesn't work as good with songs from the Nu Guns era. I still prefer what Slash did to the new releases over what I heard from Finck, Bumble etc. but it's not near the same level as it once was. It could have been by writing completely new songs but we've got no choice. It's sink or swim.
  3. It's not very likely but you never know. A one-off show could happen during the 40th anniversary of AFD e.g. if everybody is still alive. Chances are bigger that it won't but IF it happens anytime soon and if you want it to have an impact on sales and popularity then you have to make it right. Combine and promote it with a new record, written and recorded by the classic line up!
  4. Maybe some have asked. Maybe they don't have a cellphone anymore...
  5. Same with me Thought about getting a player or to fix my old one but I'll listen to it on Youtube first. I don't think TG will be worth it, tbh.
  6. I think this band proofed that they follow another kind of logic than other bands do. I don't deny it's possible, of course it is, but you don't have a guarantee. You can't say case a will happen because of case b and vice versa. The General could have been mastered during the Absurd/HS sessions. We don't know.
  7. What Axl meant is that he couldn't do a traditional rock record without Slash. Slash already left at the time and Axl was forced to find another sound.
  8. I prefer Eric over Rod and I'm not smoking anything. But there wouldn't be an Eric at all if Axl hadn't reject the whole record. I'm really curious what a GNR record would sound like blended with a mixture of early CD songs (written and produced like classic GNR), the best Snakepit instrumentals and the Slash-featuring-songs on Pawnshop Guitars all of 'em transformed into GNR songs. Then include whatever Duff had to offer at the time and add something from the sessions of the mid 90s. I think that could have been a killer record. But otherwise I'm glad we have Snakepit 1, still Slash's best record outside of Guns imo
  9. Ok, we simply disagree then. I really don't care if or where he stays (e.g. the first position of A pentatonic). To me it's important how it sounds and this part right there is awesome to my ears. Not only the guitar but as a whole. Martin Riggs posted an even better video of TOYLIG than the one I posted but I guess the problem lies in the way how we're listening to music. We pay attention to different things as I'm not a guitar player myself. Things that might annoy you I probably don't even take notice of.
  10. It's no instrumental. My sources told me Ax is gonna spell 'The General' during the 6 minute song saying every 30 seconds one letter... T H E G E N E R A L until Slash kicks in with a 3 second solo that fades out into a synth duell between Dizzy and Melissa.
  11. Yeah but it's easy to take one of his best solos to argue that his work then was better than today. Back To The Moment is awesome of course, as are many songs on Snakepit and GNR and that's definitely the work of Slash I still prefer, but that doesn't mean that I can't enjoy his new stuff. I also agree that you can make out similarities in his solos here and there, but I think that's normal when you listen to Slash. He hasn't changed his style of playing much in over 30 years but keeps releasing music constantly. Therefore I'm not expecting him to be as great as he was back then, as I'm not expecting GNR to create another AFD or a third UYI. That time is long gone but that doesn't mean everything he's doing now is garbage. To me at least. At least we agree that the outro on Far And Away is ace
  12. The more Snakepit the better. I'd love Crucified The Dead as well
  13. Best song on Libertad is Gravedancer imo... For the record. I don't think that Libertad is a bad record. I just don't rank it as high as the rest.
  14. I think everything he put out after VR is still better than Libertad but my point wasn't about the quality of the songs. I reacted to the statement about his solos and I have to disagree. Neither am I a guitarist nor do I know anything about music theory. But that doesn't mean that I'm not able to he make out a melodic solo... 4 is basically unfinished and its solos could have been more thought out but the whole record was an attempt of making a spontaneous live album so it suffered from that idea. The solos on Living The Dream instead... The One You Loved Is Gone, Lost Inside The Girl, The Great Pretender... even the faster solos like Serve You Right, Read Between The Lines, Slow Grind and Boulevard Of Broken Hearts are well structured and indeed melodic.
