  1. OMG is garbage. I'd prefer Absurd over OMG any day. Swapping Sorry for Perhaps? What's wrong with you guys? There are a lot of weak songs on CD which could be swapped for Perhaps, but surely not Sorry. Riad, Scraped, Catcher, SOD... all forgettable songs which I rank lower then Perhaps easily but Perhaps isn't anything special at all. It profited because of the catchy chorus and the nice piano. Axl's voice in the verses are exactly what he sounded like on CD and the heyhays are kind of embarrassing. It could have been safed by a proper solo but Slash played it safe there. Hope he safed some epic solos for The General and future releases. Whoever pretends he's not capable of doing it, is talking shit.
  2. Another song that suffer from Myles to me. I know we heard some instrumental parts of it in those Reel videos about making of the album and that got me really excited. Myles vocals were a let down to me but after the main solo it starts to be a banger again.
  3. I could be wrong but iirc he stated that during the chats here and not in 2002.
  4. They may aren't credited in the liner notes but they get a specific amount of money. That differs from member to member and from the dagree of songwriting contribution each member did, which affects the percentage of royalties they get.
  5. I think it sounds very CD-ish. Most likely because of the voice, but still very CD-ish. Even more so without Slash and Duff.
  6. I think the question isn't if anybody is a touring member or not. It started with Matt, Gilby and Dizzy. They were hired back in the day. Either you are GNR or you are a hired member on the bands payroll.
  7. Haven't heard the original versions but HS is very GNR sounding, without a question something that couldn't be done by any other guitarist besides of Slash and the guitar solos on Absurd are brilliant. Perhaps solo ain't special but it fits the song and I like it more than what Finck contributed to it.
  8. Slash and Duff were needed for the songs to sound more like GNR. There are rumors or hints that Slash and Duff have (or had) their difficulties with Franks playing. When they're getting material to work on with an existing drum track, why replace it with a drummer they don't get along with very well (on a musical sense - not on a personal level). I think Frank would get his chance if they were ever to write and record new shit.
  9. Was Frank ever more than an touring drummer? It's not like he had the chance of being something more.
  10. Serve you right minus that Myles chorus would be simply amazing.
  11. Obviously GNR isn't just Axl anymore but Axl, Slash and Duff. Regardless that doesn't matter. What matters is the distribution of the royalties.
  12. I really dislike Driving Rain. There are much better songs on LTD imo.
  13. I was dissapointed with The River Is Rising when it came out but it has grown on me and I think its better then most of the singles from Living The Dream.
  14. Sounded absurd? Not even Ashba could have played it that bad. A terrible time to be a GNR fan.
  15. Agree on Oh My God. Wouldn't call that epic by any means But I disagree on The Garden. With slightly over 5 min runtime it's not the length that makes it epic for my taste, but the build up, the psychedelic sound, the atmosphere... Alice Cooper, the crazy part during the solo and the heavy riffing towards the end. Pure greatness. Simply epic for me
  16. I'm still listening to this every now and then but like Ralphelmo I watch the Studio 60 recording. My thoughts on this are very similar to yours. Its the only SMKC record that I can listen to front to back. The weakest song imo is The Path Less Followed even though it has probably the best solo on the record. The best songs overall are Whatever Gets You By, C'est La Vie and Call Off The Dogs I think, but it's difficult to tell because the whole record contains easy listening music with not as many highs as their previous albums, but with very few lows. I'm really looking forward to Slash's next record and I'm curious not only about who's gonna sing on it, but with which musicians he collaborated. Would be funny if it's Duff snd Richard.
  17. We had Absurd and Hard Skool long before the physical release. Could be the same with The General, couldn't it? I don't like to jumb on the "New album bandwagon" but if there's something like this in the making, probably like Slash told at first we get 4-6 songs as piece meal and then as a full record, then I hope they supplement the record with completely new material. Basically a second Lies, with released and unreleased (and new) songs combined.
  18. No, it would have been perfect for an extended guitar solo there. Like when the guitar playing picks up tempo and becomes more toxic, but they missed this opportunity. At 2:28/2:29 I always get the impression the guitar should kick in again. Maybe the music video helps me to get more used to this... as much I dislike the song, I woke up and checked YouTube. It appeard immediately. Good decision to produce a proper video. I'll watch it later, when I find some time.
