  1. I think everything he put out after VR is still better than Libertad but my point wasn't about the quality of the songs. I reacted to the statement about his solos and I have to disagree. Neither am I a guitarist nor do I know anything about music theory. But that doesn't mean that I'm not able to he make out a melodic solo... 4 is basically unfinished and its solos could have been more thought out but the whole record was an attempt of making a spontaneous live album so it suffered from that idea. The solos on Living The Dream instead... The One You Loved Is Gone, Lost Inside The Girl, The Great Pretender... even the faster solos like Serve You Right, Read Between The Lines, Slow Grind and Boulevard Of Broken Hearts are well structured and indeed melodic.
  2. Well, when you say he lost his melodic sensibility since 2014, do you mean before or after he recorded and released WOF? Regardless, because whoever describes Living The Dream as a shredding wankfest hasn't listen to it. It's an opinion to say you don't like the songs but to claim the solos have no melodic sense is simply not true. Most of them are well structured and can not be considered shredding at all.
  3. Slash may not have written material that you like in over a decade but he has written and released tons of material that a lot of other people think is great in that same time.
  4. It's just the first date and there's more to come. Pretty sure they'll tour Buenos Aires.
  5. Pretty unknown lineup for a famous festival. I don't think I've heard of one single act besides SMKC that's on the bill.
  6. To me it's definitely the new music part. New music even from this line up should be great but having Izzy back who'd complete the Axl-Izzy-Slash-Duff writing team would be huge!
  7. About time to start announcing tour dates. They still have to come to Europe for 4
  8. Probably because GNR has history with long epic songs and the longer the song chances are higher for more rhythm changes and long guitar parts. At least that's why I hope its a long track that screams for a great Slash solo
  9. Imagine The General would be just an instrumental track that features Robin and Buck... oh wait, I confused myself with Sweersa.
  10. No I'm not telling you anything. Just what I understood based on his wording. But yeah, hopefully it's how you understand it and it's indeed a dark heavy song. I'd prefer that tbh.
  11. I think with 'monster' he tries to increase the word great. He could have used epic instead I think, but does it matter? I hope it's a monster but neither is Perhaps great nor would he say something negative about any song that is about to get released.
  12. SMKC has played lots of arenas outside the US and considering their position on European festivals they are a far bigger draw than BH could ever be. Like I said before, that's not even an attribute of quality. We all know his a freak on guitar, his skilks are amazing and he showed on CD what he's capable of (assuming it was him coming up with those solos and they were not pasted together out of severel minutes sensless noodling like he often does on his solo records) but that statement was far off and I think you can't imagine him yourself play the same venues and draw the same amount of people, not only in the US but everywhere in the world.
  13. I hope not but you could be right. But since the guitar and bass parts are new arranged and and lyrics and vocal melodies will be new to us it will probably be a completely new music to us.
  14. Then you're obviously not following Slash's solo carrer because that statement is ridiculous.
  15. Oh of course he is and he ever was a caricature. On the same level as Axl was one with his clothing, his stage present and his behavior off stage. I wish Slash wouldn't wear his top hat permanently but Bucket's still on another level though, with a bucket over his head and the storys about him and the chicken coop. I think a lot of CD songs suck but (for the record) not every CD song. And not to be able to hear the GNR sound in the released version of HS tells more about you than about these "Slash fanboys" you mentioned... the guitar track is unmistakable the GNR sound and that's not even a attribute of quality. It simply is what it is. Fact is, Bucket is by far the best technical guitar player the band has ever had, and one of the best guitar players in the world. But your preferences for Nightrain and KOHD are just your preferences and nowhere near a fact.
  16. It's a great solo for the wrong song and that's the point. People complaining about Slash noodling and playing to fast but probably the same people trying to sell that Nightrain solo as something special. I'm sorry, but to me those people don't get what GNR and their music is about. Nightrain is a groovy hard rock song, bluesy... a song with balls and a lot of feel. Bucket's solo is a wankfest but doesn't capture the soul of this song. Never did.
