  1. Slash's memory of that period has been, by his own admission, very hazy. And Duff recently said that Slash didn't remember playing guitar on Hope. So I think it's more likely that Slash doesn't remember than Marc Canter misremembering.
  2. Yes, it's not necessarily about sexual abuse in particular, but about the pain stemming from the rough childhood the narrator/Axl had which translated to anger that affected his future relationships. And now that we have made more sense of the lyrics in the chorus, the General being a (lyrical) sequel to Estranged makes some more sense, too. Axl said about Estranged: Estranged started getting developed when I had a relationship with my ex-wife Erin. And, you know, it just got really dark and, basically, writing the song was one of the only things that kept me together. And I really tried to put into words how I felt in the situation and how much I wanted things to work, you know. And, really, the song helped me to get in touch with my real feelings besides all the arguments and whatever was going on. Like when you get in an argument with somebody and you’re screaming, and yelling, and whatever, and then you go sit by yourself and you go, “That’s not what I wanted to say.” […] And so it was my way to express to myself how I felt. [Rockline, November 27, 1991] So The General could be expanding and going more in depth about the causes of acting like that.
  3. The part about Fall To Pieces is relatively new information from Marc: https://www.a-4-d.com/t6807-fall-to-pieces
  4. I posted this in the General Musings thread, but it's relevant here, too. According to Ron Young, singer of the band Little Caesar, he was going to be the singer in Snakepit, but Geffen wanted someone closer to Axl's style, so they kind of imposed Eric Dover: https://www.loudersound.com/features/little-caesar-rock-band-story
  5. Marc Canter said that Axl liked some of VR but had some "constructive criticism" about it, e.g. that it could be better here and there. It seems that he probably felt that at least Fall To Pieces should have been GN'R material, as he mentioned it specifically in the chats. And according to Marc, Fall To Pieces was one of the three Slash songs that Axl was thinking about including on CD in 2001 with Slash playing on them, provided that Slash would apologize.
  6. Yes, after the tour is vague. It doesn't necessarily mean right after the tour.
  7. He did say that, but also that the plan was to start working on new music after this last tour was over. Tom Mayhue and Fortus (I know...) said the same.
  8. The two tracks leaking together is too much of a coincidence, though. Also Fernando's joke would work only if we were going to hear both songs at the same time.
  9. I wouldn't think so, since they're clearly two separate songs. We'll have to wait until December for this mystery to be solved. If it's a mistake, it's from Universal.
  10. He gets a small cut (about 1% - and Dizzy gets 0.5%). He wrote in his book (the leaked version) that Axl initially wanted to give him a bigger publishing share, but Slash disagreed.
  11. I noticed that in the Canadian database I Don't Care About You from TSI is registered twice: on its own and together with Look At Your Game, Girl as a "medley" (I haven't seen such registration in other databases). "The General and Monsters", though, is not registered as a medley.
  12. Updated the OP with information from CMRRA (Canadian music rights database), regarding: - Axl's shares for Perhaps and The General (and Monsters) - More precise shares for Oh My God, Shackler's Revenge, Sorry and Scraped.
  13. I have thought that it could be muscle memory, too, in addition to insisting on singing the songs on the same range that they were sung on the record. He has proven, though, that he can instantly and effortlessly adjust his delivery to his baritone voice. and change the melody when needed, etc.
  14. He said he hasn't played on the "CD2" material that Axl had before he joined (except for his remixes, I suppose).
  15. Brain's friends who he has written songs with. He talked about writing The General and Seven with them here: https://www.a-4-d.com/t8084-2019-03-17-appetite-for-distortion-interview-with-brain#33609
  16. Found it on CMRRA (Canadian music rights database). Note that it mentions mechanical licensing, which is for physical copies. This registration seems also to have been submitted from Axl's end (Black Frog) though, like the SESAC registration. The writing credits are the same as on SESAC. https://cmrradirect.cmrra.ca/WorkRegistration/ViewWork.aspx?workCode=105047175
  17. No, there's no reason to believe it's real. For one, it doesn't make sense that stuff like that would be on Beta's email, so I'm inclined to think that it's fabricated.
  18. Some people think that the registration could be a mistake. I've been checking the other databases (BMI that collects royalties for Brain and GMR that collects royalties for Slash and Duff) but it hasn't been added there yet. If they're registered together there, too, it's not a mistake.
  19. There's nothing more in it than what ShadowOfTheWave posted.
  20. Maybe he's insecure about how he looks and doesn't want that to interfere before a performance.
