I knew this day was coming and it had to be done but fuck, look at us, someone ruined it for everyone and now we can’t post YouTube links.... YouTube links for Christ sake

Imagine scouring all day for YouTube links...and then repeat that process over the next year. All to stick it to a few thousand people. It’s outrageous, sad, and a bit frightening when you get to the core of it

  2. Outside of posting lyrics, the premise that anyone could be held legally responsible for discussing songs is straight up laughable. It would be a waste of everyone’s time in any court setting to pursue action for any of this on any level. The PR damage would be catastrophic to even broach it

Yeah this band wants to make $. That’s the entire point of this regrouping. Anything new or forward that comes out of this is ancillary. When guarantees get below their time and effort, they’ll pay Izzy, Adler and Sorum and go around again. That being said there is work to that. It’s a big $ maker right now. Doesn’t matter a dime if we support it or not....outside of $1k box sets that were directed at this part of the fanbase

YouTube is an issue across entertainment right now. The two individuals are just taking advantage of the current situation. Eventually this will all get sorted and the process streamlined. Maybe then we’ll truly know their stance as there’s nothing/no one to hide behind

Keep calling them out for their practices. Do it in their social accounts. That’s the only way to make them raise an eye

Perhaps, but I’m talking about some deeper principles.

I believe their principles are pretty consistent across the board now. They don’t want any of that stuff available. I believe they’d demand all of those tapes returned if they were allowed as well

We can surely disagree with that stance though

  4. 46 minutes ago, jamillos said:

Again, I don’t get the logic. People who upload shaky cell-phone recordings from gigs and thus promote the band for free are being hunted down, yet selling decades old tapes for thousands of dollars on e-bay is ok?

Fuck me if I ever wanted to live in a universe where this is fine.

Copyright law is simply outdated. What you stated is legally acceptable. The band/label has no grounds to demand those tapes be returned and can be sold without their permission. They just can’t be duplicated or distributed

TB probably makes another cup of coffee for Axl, Slash and Duff will grab their fat $$$ rewards for the reunion, and the band will just be a marketing brand, which just sells toy trucks, 30 years old setbox with fake plastic skulls, and such stuff we can't even imagine nowadays.

    oh. wait.

They decide to pay Izzy, Adler, Sorum etc and double dip on the reunion

I really believe they just don't know what they're doing. They were never meant to manage Guns N' Roses. Axl gave up on finding a professional manager so he just gave the job to Beta and Fernando, people he trusts. But they're not very good at it imo and everytime I read one of Beta's or Fernando's posts I get the feeling they just can't be bothered with any of it. I don't think they give a shit as long as they're making money and keeping Axl happy. The casual fans are still coming to see the (same old) show so it's all good.

We are almost nothing to them. At least that's how I feel as a longtime fan. When you treat the core of your fanbase like shit, that's how you know you're doing a poor job and a disservice to the band really.

Could have been so much cooler with a celebratory feel to it. Instead it's bitterness from us, unwillingness from TB to even see where we're coming from, (even being very rude to people who travel the world to see the band) and psychotic "fans" ruining the experience for everyone.

I think they know better. Fernando isn’t dumb to know how important video plays in 2019. That’s not to say TB isn’t to blame for letting this happen or even holding  contempt towards the fanbase. It’s shitty behavior

The issue is the artist. Every manager has made head scratching decisions, lost control, or catered to their whims. This isn’t anything new and is actually on brand behavior wise if you look back over the last 30 yrs. This stance probably stems from there imo

That's definitely part of it, yeah.

I've been saying this for many years now, but GNR (and TB) have mistaken their fans for fans of the Rolling Stones and The Eagles. Just because shit loads of people will fill stadiums to hear Sweet Child, doesn't mean that the average GNR has money to blow on overpriced boxed sets.

If anything, I'd venture a guess that the GN'R organization is angry with the fan base because GNR ended up with so much egg on their face with the L&L debacle.

Different age group entirely too. Those bands built equity with their fanbases to get to that point over the years. Outside of merch, this band refused to work with each other during down years to grow that section. On top of it, you have canceled tours and the premise of how Axl/GNR relate to their fanbase through their live shows. They’ve never addressed it and fans have never wanted to engage further because of it

Outside of this section of the fanbase and crazies, who’s buying anything outside an album remaster? Their stance/inaction on live videos being one of those gateways to bring fans into the fold and more importantly to another level.

They are either incredibly short sighted or don’t care. I don’t know which is worse on a management level

    Thanks for that.

Bloody hell, it's sad that it's come to that.

I do wonder what will be left of this band's 'fanbase' pretty soon.

I bet they wonder why they couldn’t sell 10,000 boxes of vinyl and bs trinkets for a thousand bucks.

Maybe because you treat the fans who would want and possibly buy that type of stuff like unwanted ingrates. Niceness goes a long way in that regard at that price point. It’s a bold strategy moving forward for a legacy act.

    Those bloody bastards.

This bundle includes all the vinyl I bought the L&L box for at its date of release 😡

Sorry mate. Been patiently waiting for this day since they announced that stupid box. Plus you get a red AFD cassette and a whiskey glass within each bundle. Looks like mine are arriving Monday. The price is actually pretty reasonable.

I’m honestly surprised this wasn’t a Record Store Day exclusive. Although they probably would make more $ selling direct to fan.

By July they will probably start tearing the crosses off of the box and start selling those. That will be the final coffin

I always considered the 2 EPS combined an album since you really couldn't buy LLAS.  8 songs isn't that many for an album these days but there are tons of all time classics from the 70's with 8 or 9 songs on them.  LIES is my second favorite Gn'R album. F'n love it. I actually just bought two Vinyl copies of it within the last week or two! \m/

I go by how many record contracts defined the difference during that time. Specifically new songs that were above a certain number of tracks or running length. I don’t think Lies meets that criteria. Its more of a double EP

    no

nobody fucking bought live like a suicide except like 40 people

    the combination is irrelevant

its an album buddy - u buy an album in a music store its an album not some single tape

Yeah, that’s why they included the songs on “B Sides and EP’s” on the recent remaster

what the fuck is an EP

its an album in my books

An extended play record, often referred to as an EP, is a musical recording that contains more tracks than a single, but is usually unqualified as an album or LP. Lies is 4 songs and LLAS is 4 previously released songs. So in this case a double EP

UYI is the follow up album to AFD

The merch website's been updated with a bunch of new things:

    Christmas sweater!

    Ornaments!

Puzzles of the two Appetite album covers, plus Use Your Illusion I and II (I like these)!

Also new are seperate shot glass/vinyl bundles. One features  all four LP vinyls from the Locked N' Loaded set. The other has all the 7" singles from Locked N' Loaded. Surprisingly, they are affordably priced.

    Check it out.

The vinyl bundle is a steal and exactly what I’ve been waiting for

It's all odd. As others have said, once the glitz, glamour and the novelty of the reunion wears off, it'll be them and us again further down the road. It looks as though they have attempted to change the way the fanbase posts, and the thing is, these forums have been around so long that people are not going to change. And with regard to the leaks, it was non forum avenues (social media, reddit, discord etc..) that were more damaging as well.

Or a new release is not really a long term focal point. They’ll do it, milk it, and then pay Izzy/Steven for another go around when things start to slip. Then it’s over/retired for a long stretch

  15. It’s a complicated issue. I don’t agree with the stance on YouTube/etc on a general music business level in 2019. I also don’t think anyone here is going to change that stance internally within the band/management as it pertains to Guns. That’s never been the way they’ve operated under any management team or lineup in the past. It’s isolated from outside forces

It’s unfortunate as live shows/videos have kept the band’s online presence alive during dark periods. To turn their back on that experience now that they’re active and back playing large venues is really unfortunate. We’ll see what happens long term on that front if they fill that void in another way. Time will tell

As far as forum/online relations. They don’t need us....right now. We’ll see when the crowd numbers subside and they want to release new music. They’ll need these types of fans then. With that number dwindling over the years and people becoming disinterested in that type of fandom with this act, it’ll be interesting to see how that plays out long term. You can see that somewhat from the lack of excitement from the recent leaks. I don’t think that happens 20 yrs ago. They’ve lost  engaged fans on that level because they haven’t been bothered to nurture the relationship. Other acts do this because it’s beneficial and they need them. Time will tell if that strategy pays off

Thanks. This was the first time I saw this.

To me, together with Walker's admission, this strongly suggests Walker has been responsible for at least taking down some videos.

What it doesn't demonstrate, though, is that TB handed over the Uzi Suicide account to Walker or is in any shape or form behind the takedowns. In fact, the screenshot doesn't even imply that a specific Uzi Suicide email account (other than the private account of Walker was used). maybe he only listed his affiliation as Uzi Suicide? Or maybe he used an Uzi Suicide account but had gotten control over that not by being handed it to him?

You don’t need the murder weapon to be convicted of murder

I understand that TB have been "made aware", but there is not much that they can do about this . racism and harrassment is an issue that should be adressed by the authorities.

the victim should file a complaint, the authorities should then investigate it.

TB is not a party in this: they are neither the offender, nor the receiver. They are only involved indirectly. They are made aware, about shit that goes on between fans.

Should they publicly do something about the offender, say, call him out as a troll, then this troll could actually file a complaint against TB themselves!

to add to this, TB have never been known to be particularily caring about what happens in the fanbase, so I wasn't expecting anything else.

all of this under the huge dislaimer that TB weren't actively involved behind the harrasment

When it’s happening in your own backyard and you’re in charge of it? Doing nothing when you’re aware definitely makes you involved. God forbid anything happened where lawyers needed to be involved. Who do you think they go after monetarily in that scenario?

I’ve been in sales and marketing for over 20 years and all they are doing is shooting themselves in the foot.   Those videos are 100% free publicity for the band.

Every time they take one down they are losing out on free marketing for the band.  It’s the equivalent of saying “No, I don’t want you to market our band for free”.   Insane.

They lose out on ad revenue too.

In 2002 on stage he said he didn't mind the photos and videos. He also said how Bucket bought a bootleg of a show off they'd done off ebay and was proud of it.

So what changed? Why after Saskatoon leaked did he and the minions explicitly give Alford and the "it" access to an official account to fast track takedowns of all unofficial videos?

It’s either coming from Axl or the camp just has taken a stance that they don’t care about it and therefore won’t lift a finger either way for it. (Talking about fan generated content/not leaks).

They know who’s doing it, and at best don’t feel one way or the other in addressing it. It’s incredibly short sighted for 2019 and perhaps should tell you everything you need to know about their strategy moving forward. Hit it and quit it
