You are back? How come?

I am, and thank you for your lovely comment earlier in the thread. As to how come...I probably shouldn't talk about it. I'm not sure about enough of the details myself.

That or The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button.

heard that was a good movie. just really long

Almost 3 hours. Could've easily cut out atleast 25 minutes. The movie's good, but it doesn't really add up to anything and I thought the ending was mediocre. Should've ended it, as I said before, about 20-30 minutes before.

Just saw The Wrestler. Really great movie and what a fantastic performance by Mickey Rourke! Hopefully he'll get at least nominated for the Oscar.

Aronofsky is being, once again, forgotten in these awards. Same thing happened with Requiem For A Dream. He deserves a lot more credit.

Marisa Tomei was also pretty good.

Still haven't seen a lot of 2008 movies, but this one is up there with The Dark Knight.

Re-watched:

Postman Always Rings Twice

The Grapes Of Wrath

Ken Park

The Big Country

Harvey

(within the last two weeks i think)

Which one?

how dare you fucking ask me that :rofl-lol: Which one?!?! I refuse to answer on that grounds that you should know better by now

Isn't that just a wonderful film? I don't understand what film critics and whatnot mean when they say it's just an artistic excuse for a porno.

i think cuz the extreme aspects are so...pronnounced...not so much in the movie (there are to a point i suppose) but in the furore that people kinda watch it and lose sight of the movie in which theres really something going on. I think its actually really subtle in places compared to like...Bully or Kids. Larry Clark suffers from that thing where people think he goes out of his way to break boundaries just for its own sake which is just a facade to cover over the fact that he really has nothing to say. i dunno, its possible i suppose. I dont think so, i think he's a great director but yeah...thats that.

I think the whole thing with...Shawn and his girls mother is actually really sweet in a weird way...just like the whole thing with Shawn and the other guy and Peaches in the end. its a shame, the way some people act you'd think they'd never seen a dick before. Its a shame that that shit gets ahead of what is actually a really neat little movie.

I saw "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" with Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett on Christmas Day. It was absolutely spectacular from the acting, right down to the make-up they used to age them and make them look youthful. An absolutely brilliant movie, and a must see.

*locks and loads* based on?

It's nastier and I prefer the actors. I do love the original, calm the fuck down.

its nastier?!?! now, as much as i dig nasty, we're talking about film noir here, not a 2 Live Crew video, nasty aint necessarily a compliment (at least in this case )

"Where we gon' take this partttyyy too? To the backyaaardd" dont quite cut it ;)

I meant nastier in a film noir context. And you knew that. You just wanted to to drop a 2 Live Crew reference. You sicken me, you really do. :(

Ooh I must see that. Cate Blanchett was brilliant in The Aviator.

Waltz with Bashir was the best film of the year as well as the most important one. Due to recent godawful events, it's taken on even more importance. It's also unbelievably cool and entertaining. Anyone who cares about film on any level beyond non-confrontational entertainment, must see this.

I just watched The Happening. Must say I was a bit disapointed.

I also bought, No County For Old Men, Beowolf, and There Will Be Blood. Looking forward to watching those ones.

Oh and Superj, I forgot to tell you the other day, Joan wasn't pissed at all about me buying them, in fact she was kinda pleased with the selection. ;)

I agree, I think that final sex scene is a really sweet and pure depiction of a friendship, it's very liberal.

Recently watched/re-watched:

Kids

Ken Park

Wassup Rockers

Sid and Nancy

Biggie and Tupac

Lost in Translation

The Alphabet Killer

Bah whatever!

Still took you forever to get No County For Old Men and There Will Be Blood, two very good films that you'd better like or I'll be forced to end your life!

Biggie and Tupac

whats that like? :)

You haven't seen it? It's good, really convincing, just like Kurt and Courtney, but there's something about Nick Broomfield's films that I don't like - they seem kinda.. amateurish. But I was positively surprised by the interviewees he managed to get in his film; he even got a short interview (but not particularly rewarding) with Suge Knight while he was in the pen at the end, where he only got fucked up junkies claiming to have know Kurt in Kurt and Courtney.
