Best - Tie between Mumford And Sons, Clapton & Winwood, Crowded House and John Fogerty. Yes, it's a lame answer, but they all brought something amazingly special.

- Mumford And Sons was just pure magic in a small venue with an up and coming band managed to create this magical energy with an extremely powerful repertoire. Everything to prove and they didn't miss a beat.

- Clapton & Winwood made me understand why people, back in the day, wrote "Clapton is God" on the walls.

- Crowded House was the kind of gig where it feels like you're in this relaxed atmosphere with close friends sharing good memories. They were just so loose and interactive. Their music is horribly underrated as well

- And the there was John Fogerty at Bospop festival. With the band and the crowed anckle-deep in the mud dancing in the pouring rain for two hours and not a single dry spot on anyone. Especially the man himself who ignored the festival's organizers wishes to cut the set short because of the storm. I consider this my Woodstock (Crosby Stills & Nash at the same festival added to that feeling)

Not to sell any of the other artists short, I really didn't see a single bad headliner this year. Some opening acts (Connan Mockasin, Imperial State Electric, Sleeze Beez) were bloody awful though.

Johnny Flynn And The Sussex Wit however (opening act for Mumford And Sons) was pretty much my new discovery of the year with some amazing folk music about everyday life. Fantastic lyrics and great music.

And I say all this with two Pe Daalemmer en Rooie Rinus gigs ahead of me. These two guys are streetmusicians from the 80's who wrote and sang in my dialect. Worldfamous in Groningen (the provence in the north of Holland where I live). No doubt in my mind they'll be anything other than hilarious. :) But you really have to be a local to get it I guess.

6/18 - Booker T & The MG's (Rochester)

How'd you like them? I really loved them last year in Amsterdam. It's just that old school groove that you sort of don't see anymore these days. Legends in their own right.

One of my friends just introduced me to Mumford & Sons last week. He saw them earlier this year, and said they're the best live band he's ever seen. Would love to see them one of these days...

Only been to 2 shows this year, on was a festival (Big Day Out) in January, and saw Slash in August. Both were awesome, but I would say my Slash experience was better than the BDO, due to how close I was to the stage, how awesome the sound was, the atmosphere, the kick ass crowd and the fact that I touched Myles' hand ^_^

Holy shit OP hates gigs! :rofl-lol: Good effort sir

I actually can't remember everything I've been to this year. What I can remember:

Slash (x1)

GNR (x1) bonus Seb. Bach

Alter Bridge (x1)

Manic Street Preachers (x2)

Alice In Chains (x1)

Chains was fucking mental. Probably the most enjoyable gig I've ever been to. The highlight of the year has to be GNR though just because of the pure spectacle of it all. Finally seeing them at this point felt like an end to the whole Chinese Democracy saga too.

These are all the shows I have seen this year..some aren't exactly concerts or full concerts but I still have them listed (slash video shoot, buckcherry on kimmel, etc) but I would say the best shows out of all of these were jane's at the roxy and Macca at the Hollywood Bowl(the Frisco show was a lot of fun as well). Money's been really tight this year, so only Pearl Jam in Berlin with Ben Harper as the opening act. Best concert and day of my life! :)

Missed Slash in Berlin as I couldn't afford to go to Berlin twice in a month and GNR in Arnheim didn't fit in my time schedule. :(

Maybe I'll see Fistful of Mercy in December, but I'm not sure about that.

More gigs this year than I've been to in my life. 1st one was Jethro Tull in Dubai in 2003 or 2004. Then Deep Purple in Manchester (with Peter Frampton opening  ) in 2004 I think (maybe 2005). Gogol Bordello in Bordeaux in December 2008. Metallica in Sheffield in Feb 2009. And WASP in Glasgow in Dec 2009.

How were Explosions in the Sky & Fuck Buttons? They're both bands I've recently gotten into (I can only imagine how epic Surf Solar must have been).
