sailaway
What's this criticism of Sorum's 'repetitive patterns' and 'linearity'? On a 3 minute rock song with 3 verse/choruses, he has a particular job that he can only do so much with. Repetitive patterns? Have you listened to Slash, or Buckethead for that matter? lol Same shit all the time - and I LOVE those guys! There's supposed to be a kind of continuity in a rock song, especially with the drums. Listen to any Led Zeppelin song and tell me if the drums fills and nuances dont start basic and then expand as the song progresses. Steven Adler on the other hand, God love him, Live was so um...enthusiastic that he'd do these bigass meaningless snare fills early in the song and then had nowhere to go after that!I have no interest in listening to "Baron von Storm's" extra-curricular offerings. I also don't listen to Bucket, unless its a full moon and I've been indulging. Sorum is a deluded,fuzzy-haired oipportunist who was in it for the Checks,Chicks ,booze and drugs.Peart or Portnoy could easily shit on him from great distances.Obviously they could, I don't think anyhody's arguing that. I also don't think Guns would want eiither of those 2 drumming Gods in the band. the constant cymbal dancing and tom work is fantastic with progressive music, but would be terrible on coma or dead horse. square peg, round hole (although they're quite possibly the best 2 square pegs out there)Understand completely, agreed
Dean
From what I've read, Axl loved Sorum's drumming and loved how powerful he played. He said that the UYI albums didn't do his drumming justice due to how compressed it was. They met at a bar a few years ago and Sorum said they got on great, so I doubt he is bothered to be honest. sailaway
Politically the former members have been favourable to the concept of the Rock Hall. They were part of the Van Halen induction in 2007; and Slash has openly declared his support on several occasions.Axl however has publicly put question to its credibility and purpose. If Axl could be left out the Rock Hall would attempt it.VR was fucking embarrassing during the VH induction,a song with limited notes and they euthanased it,better than Kevorkian. Some need public accolades, some don't see the RRHOF as anything but Jann Wenner capitalizing on his shitty magazine. I guess some need a shiny box of adhesive metallic stars to decorate their house with.It is a good omen that it gives Axl a chance to decide yay or nay.Regardless if he shows up or not, everyone knows the truth. Is Adler still 'occupying" the HOF venue? AXL_N_DIZZY
I'd say Axl's indifferent... Probably thinks it's their HOF... their ceremony... they can induct who they want. Now is Sorum part of Axl's own personal GN'R HOF??? Most likely not IMHO. I think that's probably Izzy, Duff, Paul, Tommy, Dizzy, Bumblefoot, Pitman, Brain, Finck, Buckethead and anybody else who he has collaborated with along the way that has really inspired him and he feels made a real creative contribution to GN'R (perhaps now DJ?). I would bet some part of him probably acknowledges that Slash is in that group too- but probably prefers not to think about it too much...

Guest NewGNRnOldGNR
I agree with you. Axl doesn’t care for a materialistic trophy; Slash does. Slash supports that mainstream, “relevant at all costs” politics; Axl doesn’t.Ideally Axl delivers a video sentiment which opens with darkness to reveal him in room with a cat on his lap.Thereafter he reads a section of his book on the breakdown of classic GN’R and lavishes praise on GN’R post-1996. Then concludes with “In 2012 there will be a new album” Edited December 10, 2011 by NewGNRnOldGNR
