Powerage5
You Know My Name is easily the best Bond song.I can think of about eight which are superior. What? It's my favorite too, interested to see your list.Yesterday someone on Reddit said they thought Writing's On The Wall is tied with Thunderball for the worst Bond theme. Yes, there's actually someone out there that prefers Die Another Day to Thunderball

Then you might find You Know My Name.
Georgy Zhukov
I would put You Know My Name in place of Goldeneye.
DieselDaisy
I do not really like modern rock music and rock instrumentation on Bond themes if I am to be truly frank. Bond themes should be big soulful orchestrated songs, with strings and woodwinds.

I just think that You Know My Name works wonderfully with the film, it fit the opening sequence perfectly, and it's got some of the best lyrics found in any Bond theme.
Georgy Zhukov
Sometimes the strings get cheesy. You get sick of them, eventually.

James Bond
I do not really like modern rock music and rock instrumentation on Bond themes if I am to be truly frank. The way it's built around the Bond theme made it a great substitution for the traditional Bond theme throughout the score. The main hook just screams Bond. As a side note, I still say David Arnold delivered his best Bond score with Casino Royale. I kind of miss him, but I'm excited to see how Newman handles his second go.
Crazyman
As mentioned in article - A-ha: I think the Bond version is much, much better, imo. I don't really like the album version of it.Anyway Sam Smith said he wrote the song in 20 minutes and the vocals are from the demo. Someone else put it better - it's like a college kid cramming for a test after partying all night. And to be fair Sam Smith did deliver something timelessly classic...just the opposite of what he expected

Black Sabbath
Just listened to about half, up to the point where he gets stupidly pitched and starts singing "I cannot live". I honestly don't mind Sam Smith with some of his songs, and I do think he has a good voice and can sing well, but Jesus, why did they pick him for this??? Lana Del Ray or Ellie Goulding would have been much better. The instrumental sounds like it could possibly work as a Bond song, but the vocals completely ruin it. James Bond
I almost agree about the instrumental but my problem is that it's too bare bones for Bond. Just when you think it's about to build to something interesting it doesn't. It really does scream "demo" because the whole thing sounds unfinished. Then there's the little matter of the terrible lyrics and awful singing. Definitely an all around disappointment. At least Madonna had a song that sounded finished (and admittedly I like the main violin hook in Die Another Day, just not so much the electronic bits and her bad singing with the staccato, oddly timed syllables). It's going to be a boring main titles sequence for SPECTRE. Even if the visuals are outstanding it's going to fall flat because nothing interesting is happening musically. To use Die Another Day again, the title sequence there improves the song because the visuals are so good and it was a great idea to incorporate Bond's torture.
Georgy Zhukov
I think the instrumental is the only good part about the song. What the fuck were they thinking getting this guy sing? I didn't mind it until he started belting out falsettos. Who does he think he is? That Bee Gees guy?
James Bond
If the soundtrack for TSWLM is any indicator, a Bee Gees Bond theme would have been a lot better than Sam Smith.
James Bond
Theme song aside, here's a good new interview with Craig:http://www.dailymail.co.uk/home/event/article-3247750/Bond-Spectre-Daniel-Craig-s-like-alter-ego.htmlHe talks about how he still has a lot of fun making the films (mentioning that it's impossible not to get excited with such a great cast and crew) and that even though he's only contracted for one more he'd be happy to keep doing them as long as he physically can. It's always nice to hear confirmation from the man himself about keeping on going since his comments right after filming are usually quite the opposite since he's so tired. Powerage5
Awesome. I really hope he at least does a sixth film, being tied with Connery for second most would be amazing.

Georgy Zhukov
I usually like falsetto but Sam's falsettos are just bad. I know it has been the cool thing to do in indie music, but it just didn't work here.
Crazyman
Not to mention the lyrics are awful and it builds towards nothing.

Craig might come home from a busy day filming to find her head buried in a Patricia Cornwell paperback. ''Darling?' ''Not tonight dear - I'm reading''.
