Judging from the pages of the U.K.'s Mail Online, there's not a whole lot happening with Guns N' Roses, save for the fact that Axl Rose has been out on the town in London with a bevy of babes and a "short and wavy" hairdo instead of his trademark "long and straight" number.
It's such big news that ol' Axl is pictured no less than seven times sporting the new look. While Axl has never been a Bowie-like chameleon of rock, he also famously wore his hair in cornrows a few years back, and there's been some debate if his hair is really still his or has he had a hair transplant, plugs, or a weave.
But enough of such trivial matters. We're here to report that Guns N' Roses has actually been quite busy, they've just been busy overseas. The band recently wrapped a series of dates in such exotic locales as Australia, Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates, and Lebanon, and Axl recently posted a note on the band's official site to thank the fans and opening acts like ZZ Top and Rose Tattoo. And the band has some festival dates in the U.S. coming up, including Rocklahoma in Pryor, Oklahoma, on May 24, River City Rockfest in San Antonio on May 26, and the Governor's Ball in New York on June 8.
If you go to one of these shows, you'll be able to see for yourself if Axl's "new" look is worth all of the fuss.
Oh, and if you're sensitive....might not want to read the comments lol.

I think because Axl stayed away from the public eye for so long, when he eventually did reemerge, the changes were that much more drastic then they would have been if we constantly saw his evolution if you want to call it that.

There are now 3 topics on this pertinent news announcement

I wonder how many topics there will be when a new single or album is announced? They'll need to create a whole separate section on the forum.

There weren't even 3 topics about it when he first got rid of the braids.

The Yahoo article actually does a good job of pointing out that GNR have actually been incredibly active and most of the press are out to lunch on them. Good on Yahoo for actually doing something.

In other news, Yahoo is still around?

I feel bad for Axl. He really hasn't aged all that bad, but he was out of the public eye so much the past 20 years, it seems like he's aged more rapidly. In the picture of 1996 where he had short hair and the beard he was around the same weight he is now. Then 2 years later in the arrest photo he was thinner. When he Reemerged in 2001 he was a normal weight but he had aged quite a bit from his last appearance. 2002 he had the cornrows and the oversize jerseys which made him look weird. 2003-2005 he wasn't seen. 2006 he had the cornrows still, but wasn't in the news much.

His last big appearance before 2009 was the 2006 VMAs when he introduced the killers, but that was only about a minute, making his last long appearance in 2002.

People like slash are in the public eye regularly, so they age more gradually. Axl is only in the front page news once every few years, so there's gaps that don't show his aging.

Axl looks alot like he did in 2001 however IMO, but how many people actually have seen pictures of him from 2001 before he had the braids?
