"Oh My God"--A song about repressed homosexuality?

I think given Axl's background (being raised in an Evangelical Christian sort of environment, his supposedly being anally raped by his father as a child; his probable experiences when he served 3 months in jail as a young man; the experience he spoke of, about nearly being raped when he first came to LA), his well known homophobia (Not just in OIAM, he said anti-gay things in concerts in the 80s, proclaimed himself "pro-heterosexual" and expressed homophobia in his rant against Madison), his fashion choices (fur coats, boas, tight biker shorts--all elements of very gay fashion), him being seen at gay bars, and his alleged anal rape of Erin, I think this is actually an interesting topic.

I never picked up on any gayety in Axl's lyrics. As for the song itself (OMG), I took those lyrics as being about the demise of

Axl's working relationship with Duff and Slash-a rally against the idea that he was supposed to just keep his mouth shut and let

who ever (Slash, management) run the show... and references to his abusive upbringing, where he was expected to just keep the peace and keep his mouth shut. When you've been abused, and you get to a place where you can acknowledge it and try to work through it, it's pretty fucking hard to keep your mouth shut when you find yourself in abusive situations. Axl perceives his former relationship with Slash/GnR management as abusive (manipulative). JMO.

Ok, the theory is interesting, but I think it's completely wrong. I think it's pretty clear he's not homossexual. The fact that he is a major Queen and Elton John fan and the clothes he wears mean absolutely nothing.

And I don't think Axl is homophobe. What people need to understand about One In A Million, is that there's a big gap between "I" and "lyrical I." On the same exact album he sings about having that he murdered his girlfriend and and burried her on his backyard, but I don't see anyone here calling him a murderer. On One In A Million, the character is not only homophobe, but also racist. But people seem to forget that the for 6 years now the Guns N' Roses drummer is Frank Ferrer, a black man.

And even if he was a homophobe... It's not a rule that every homophobe is actually an opressed homossexual. It's just some false logic. Yes, sometimes homophobes are indeed opressed homosexuals, but sometimes also homophobes are simply homophobes and homosexuals were not homophobes before going out of the closet.

Well, OIAM was written from the perspective of a small town Indiana kid who had just moved to a huge city with a whole lot of new kinds of people he probably hadn't been around. I myself am from a small Indiana town, and casual racism and homophobia are still the norm throughout much of the state. So, I wouldn't doubt for a second that OIAM was accurate to what he really thought and felt when he wrote it.

As for the gay theory, it is interesting, but I always thought OMG was clearly about a killer.

Of the 5 of them, it seems Adler was the big hit with the ladies. Slash was popular too, like Axl said, Slash would drink too much, pass out, and Axl would then hit on the girls, once Slash was out the way (those arn't the exact words). I always got the impression, Axl wasn't such a hit with the ladies, and when he was seen out with someone, it always seemed for show. He can't have any girl, as he as a rock star thing to live up to.

I think you are more the gay or at least bisexual than Axl

Axl dated supermodels. Slash dated porn stars and lushes.
