Estranged Reality Posted March 21, 2014 Share Posted March 21, 2014 i just kind of get the vibe at this point that axl's...not catering, per se, to the average person, but perhaps come to a point where he's content to just kind of tour the hits and play well-known songs. (the 'surprises' being covers of songs people know and love by other artists.) this isn't meant to be a cynical description but perhaps he's really just kind of doing the lounge act thing on a grander scale and has no ambitions left.i'm not defending it. i just feel like most people at rio are probably gonna go apeshit over a queen cover and not care if he plays, say, the general, or a fan-favored song like 'oh my god' that most people don't even know. there aren't many 'nugnr' fans left out there, that's why the forums are as tight as they are. so i guess he's giving most people attending shows what they want, which is the hits and covers of hits. oh well. it is what it is, i guess. but i have seen this develop over the years and so i can't say i'm disappointed if they don't play any new songs tonight, because ultimately i wasn't really expecting any, and i think a lot of you got your hopes up. then again who knows, maybe they'll pull something out toward the end. 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
