A Complete List of Facts re: Potential for Reunion

Recommended Posts

In my opinion, Izzy's GNR songs are the worst of the GNR catalog with the exception of Pretty Tied Up and 14 Years. His songs are boring and bland and have some of the worst lyrics ever put to paper. His solo stuff is among the worst discographies of all time. Lazy, uninspired, sounds like he recorded his whole discography in 2 hours.

His stage persona? His clothing? I could give 2 fucks what anybody wears onstage and that shouldn't matter at all, not one bit.

His stage presence however is less than zero. He hid in the corner back in the day, couldn't play live, couldn't sing live and he still can't.

He's just all around terrible....but yeah, he's got cool clothes, I guess if you like wannabes

Couldn't disagree more - songs like Patience, Think About You, Double Talkin' Jive and You Could Be Mine are the very greatest Guns N' Roses' songs. Izzy's discography is also vastly superior to Slash's, Duff's and Axl's post-1991 music.

We are talking about stage persona here. Axl is not a german '70s porn actor either. Slash is not an undertaker. Izzy, in my opinion, has the best image and best stage persona of Guns N' Roses. He also wrote all the songs - well, all the good ones.

I agree. Out of the old gnr looks, izzy was by far the coolest. Nowadays duff looks pretty badass too.

What does Axl have to gain from a reunion?

He currently has enough money. He clearly doesn't care about making an artistic statement anymore. The man is 50lbs overweight, hires lookalikes to be his coverband, and plays nostalgia shows in Vegas. He clearly doesn't care

GNR wound up no different from Crüe, Poison, or Def Lep. Axl wasn't able to transcend and evolve and stay fresh. He couldn't pull a U2 or NIN or even a Bon jovi. He tried, he failed, and he appears to be at peace with it.

Maybe we all should be at peace with Axl's failure, too.

Can't help but agree with this.

I think Axl was basically saying that if there were to be a reunion, it would make the most sense to be the original 5 guys, but that's not realistic because Izzy and Steven can't really be trusted to pull off a tour. Izzy doesn't tour, and we all know Steven's issues. Axl then went on to say there's no appeal in a UYI reunion because it brings back a lot of bad memories, so in either scenario Axl, Slash and Duff are the key players.

Probably the best way to do it would be to take the original 5 but also bring Matt out to split drumming duties with Adler, and Dizzy on the keys. Also Gilby if Izzy isn't interested.

As time goes by, I think it's actually more realistic that there will be a reunion. Axl seems to be completely incapable of moving nuGNR forward in any conceivable way, and what they're doing right now, a celebration of AFD and UYI by a group of musicians who had nothing to do with those albums, makes no sense whatsoever.

Don't get me wrong, I'd go in a heartbeat if it happened. No questions asked simply due to it being the creators of my favorite music of all time on stage and going at it for the youngsters like me who were a day late and a buck short back in the glory days. But they're about 5 years too late for it to be such an ideal scenario anymore. Simply because Axl's lost it regardless of why. The HOF would've been a great way to put a lid on it, but since Rio I haven't been craving it anywhere close to the intensity I was in 2010, early 2011.

But it doesn't matter anyways. Fit Axl or shit Axl, it's never, ever gonna happen. Axl will never admit failure and that he was wrong to believe nu guns were ever gonna hold a candle to the real deal. It's beyond over guys.

GNR's still a headlining act and there's nothing really in it for Axl to want to give up the band he's got right now. People might laugh about him playing "bowling alleys" but it's still a moneymaker. It's also a saving face move because it allows them to play the clubs without doing a club tour, which would come across as GNR being a washed up band.

He'd sell his home and sell autographs at conventions before he'd do a reunion tour.

After 19-20 years of not talking to each other, he has his piece of mind by not dealing with him. It doesn't mean he never will see him again, but there has to be a good reason for them to, and it takes more than some self-appointed committee to make it happen.
