KeyserSoze
okay so a Slipknot show was just announced in my home town a couple of days ago.. The tickets are set to go on sale January 23rd (next friday), but neither the band, or the venue have confirmed that this is happening… I'm very confused as to what is going on here because Slipknot do not have any dates posted on there website for the months of April (the show in my city is April 30th..) and May, Even though it is widely known that Slipknot are playing various festivals during those months. Now your probably like "well there you go, the there is the answer to your problem" and it should be! except for the fact that All those dates were confirmed by Slipknots various social medias…. The show that is occuring in my city is not a festival, and hasn't been confirmed or announced by the band itself.. Infact, the only way that i found out was through Ticketmaster… Also, the venue (who's Facebook and website are only updated when they announce a new show/live chat a show) hasn't confirmed it either. soooo is Slipknot actually playing? or is Ticketmaster known for getting false info...This same exact situation happened to me about a year or 2 ago. I found out through ticket master that 2 bands were playing in a city close to me in a double headlining show. They hyped that show for about a month while it wasn't even confirmed by either of the 2 bands, nor on the venues website. after about a month of promoting it and pushing back the on-sale dates for the tickets, the show just disappeared from there website, and the show never even happened.is ticket master known for these sort of fuck ups? what should i expect the outcome to be based on this info? username
I hate ticketmaster with a burning passion for one reason only - their online ticket system. Back in the day you'd just arrive very early at (or camp out in front of) the record store or post office for tickets. First come, first serve. It was honest and fun. But I have absolutely zero confidence in Ticketmaster's virtual queues. They seem like a complete gamble. Sometimes you get through immediately, sometimes you spend an hour waiting and when a friend tries to get through during that wait they're in instantly. It just doesn't feel fair and I really hate that. Every major event their systems are overloaded and it's always a gamble.

No matter how many times I try, or how early I get online, I never get good seat tickets! There has been times I bought tickets the second they went on sale, and when I get there my seats are way at the back!? I just go and find an empty seat near the front and stay there. SO ridiculous! Especially when you have loads of empty seats scattered around. Especially when you have loads of empty seats scattered around.Over here you can sometimes use a map and select seats yourself. It even prevents you from leaving seats open in the middle, which seems like a good idea to me. So you can select your own row and exact seat. I like that. You can also have the system pick seats for you, but a lot of the times you can also do it by hand (though you have to look carefully to find that option). I don't get why it's not always like that. But still, that's no good when you just don't get past the stupid virtual queues.
dontdamnmeuyi2015
I've never had any problems with ticketmaster.com but sometimes they don't post dates of touring bands all at once on their site. The best way to know if a band is coming to your city is through the band websites. DieselDaisy
Last gig I went to, you did not even get a proper ticket: you just printed off a bit of paper - now, I believe, you just show your mobile phone.Different world from the one I grew up in. Different world.

DieselDaisy
It is all a symptom of the same thing. You do not buy proper 'tickets'.You do not buy music. You download a file to your computer. How sad is that? You do not buy books. You download them to some stupid gadget. You do not buy movies. You download them.Kids now, date, socialise, do everything via social media.
