Popular Post alfierose
''Personal insults not allowed'', on a Guns N' Roses forum? Isn't this the same band who littered their songs with expletives? Ever heard of Get in the Ring or One In A Million? So anything goes as long as the band did it first?*makes mental note to avoid Lostprophets forum*
downzy
"You are not entitled to your own facts""Find somewhere else to post"These two remarks, both in this thread, could've come straight from the two shittest gnr sites out there (we know which ones). The way things went down in the Fernando thread is a real concern. The Canter point is well made.If Fernando comes to mygnr and the majority of people post insults or generally disrespectful bullshit in his thread, that would be because the majority of people don't respect him.The thread should be left alone. People visit mygnr because they are fans of guns. The fans posted shit in his thread because they don't like what guns has become. Why sugarcoat it for their fucking manager? If you have an issue with how we moderate this place, that's fine. But if you're going to criticize us for something that's not true, then you'll be called out it. So no, you're not entitled to your own facts. You can't say that we did not allow for critical points of view or questions in the Fernando discussion. We did. If you can't make your point without verbally assaulting someone or telling them off, then yes, find somewhere else to post. Guys, we've been enforcing this rule heavily for 9 months now. The message has been received by most as personal insults around here have dropped precipitously (even though forum traffic has not). We're suddenly not going to change the rules because a member of GNR's management pops by to say a few things and you see an opportunity to tell them off. We get there's a lot of frustration and disappointment. But you can express those sentiments without the need to personally insult the guy. Nobody is saying you have to respect anybody. You're free to feel however you like. But that does not entitle anyone to be an asshole towards others. People visit mygnr because they are fans of guns. True. But let's also emphasize that they're people. As such, we should all consider that when we write a post directed at someone. Nobody is saying to love thy brother and thy sister. But at the very least we should acknowledge that they're still people. No one here is as good or as bad as their online persona seems to be. You don't have to sugarcoat your criticisms, but a criticism and an insult are not one-in-the-same. ''Personal insults not allowed'', on a Guns N' Roses forum? Isn't this the same band who littered their songs with expletives? Ever heard of Get in the Ring or One In A Million?Axl can run his affairs as he sees fit; we'll run ours as we see fit. I had a question.Still waiting on that question Wasted...

Rustycage
If a user deletes a post, do they also have to hit the delete button twice to make it completely disappear?
RussTCB
If a user deletes a post, do they also have to hit the delete button twice to make it completely disappear?I don't think so, no. I think they just hit Delete once. When we hide a post it does ask us to confirm first.
HubbaBubba
I guess the online community is primed to feel very strongly about censorship. To the average longtime poster mygnr's independence is more important than the site's relationship with management. At the first sign of apparent pandering, expect a backlash.I think the mods are in a difficult situation. If there is even the slightest perception that they're trying in ingratiate themselves with Axl's inner circle, their position becomes untenable. It's difficult. And the truth is that it's all down to the world guns has built - no news, insiders, and party passes for ass lickers.
