There is no AFD with the 2001 lineup - the band in 1998 or 1999 rehearsed and recorded the full album to get the parts down.

They were in negotiations to put Welcome to the Jungle in the movie Black Hawk Down in late 2001, which is why they recorded it  again.

I would say its more a rehearsal... that recording was january few days before Rio.

The Black Hawk offer was late 01.

Well they didn't record the full album. You're Crazy was replaced by Patience & Anything Goes was replaced by You Could be Mine. They recorded it because Axl felt the old material would be better with more "modern" recording technology / techniques, also he felt the songs were too "80s sounding", and when it came for using those songs in commercials or movies Axl didn't want any of the old members getting more $ then just composition rights.

Nope - the disc was dated late 2001

Look again

I almost wonder if Axl wanted to release the reworked KOHD for charity after September 11th happened

If anything they were rehearsing for the late 2001 Vegas shows

I didn't say there was an AFD with the 2001 lineup. I know it was before the comeback shows of 2001 with a slightly different playlist to the original album.

Its been discussed on forums to great length over the years and its always intruged me.

Track 2 always interested me on this. Why burn the warmup to CD in the first place? The riff Robin plays is then copied on bass by Tommy, seems like maybe an idea they had already been knocking around if Tommy knew the riff too already as well. Wonder if it ever became anything

It’s like someone mentioned in the past. There was hundreds of CDs. With instrumentals and ideas even few second riffs. So I’m not surprised everything was cataloged
