Towards the end of the show, Axl left the stage because he blew out his voice. This was because the stage monitors were turned off, causing him to sing louder than normal. Axl later fired the sound engineer who forgot to turn the monitors on. The band continued to play after Axl left, jamming on Led Zep's 'Communication Breakdown' and playing 'It's So Easy,' with Duff singing. A lot of that was because there were a lot of legalities behind the scenes so I had to keep my mouth shut for five years or I would've got sued for about everything I own by fucking corporate radio and shit. They were backing our tour. So I had to shut up. I mean, I did cancel the first show, at about six in the morning. My manager told me he canceled it and then didn't. And then Clear Channel wanted us to fuck up, because they wanted to end the tour. 'Cause they had some shit going on in Florida or something… I don't know… a whole bunch of bullshit. But I got really sick. It had nothing to do with fur coats and basketball games, you know. I love Philly. I came to visit here a few times and I really liked it. So on this we decided, "OK we're gonna risk it, what if we can throw in a show in Philly? And get Philly in?" So it's good to be here with you people tonight. I wanna apologize for my part in that. Slash plays bits of 'Communication Breakdown' & 'Oh Well' at the beginning of 'Double Talkin' Jive.' Axl flips a coin to decide if there will be a guitar solo or drum solo. Obviously the guitar solo won. A friend of the band, Tom Doyle, plays bongos on 'Used To Love Her.' At the end of 'Sweet Child O' Mine,' Axl slams down his microphone and slowly walks offstage. At the beginning of 'Paradise City,' Axl lackadaisically paces around the stage, showing no emotion. After the first few verses, he leaves the stage, leaving the rest of the band clueless! Although the flyer says "Hollywood Rose" - this band is still "Rose" - Axl preferred the name "Hollywood Rose" and had these flyers printed. March 16, 1987 - Whisky A Go Go, Hollywood, CA March 16, 1993 - Augusta, ME Notes: Security was very tight at this show and a lot of recorders were confiscated. As usual, Axl was late and the show started a few hours late. Axl does a cool rhyme intro to 'Double Talkin' Jive.' The band plays a little bit of 'Oh Well' at the start of 'Double Talkin' Jive.' After 'Knockin' On Heaven's Door,' Slash plays a bit of the Addams Family Theme. Due to a number of things - a very rowdy crowd, Duff being very drunk, and a curfew - the show ends after 'Sweet Child O' Mine.' The show is temporarily stopped after Nice Boys because someone threw a bottle onstage. Axl goes off on WBCN, a Boston radio station, for calling his hotel room too early in the morning. Axl asks Duff how Cornshucker goes and Duff jams on the opening chords! Duff also recites the first verse! This song was performed by GN'R at the Limelight in NY on 1.31.88. Slash plays a bit of Buick Mackane during his guitar solo. Rare performance of Reckless Life.
