It was just that one picture that I posted as a joke few times. I hope you have a good time at the farm anyway.... But you are right. This is Guns N' Roses fan forum.. we should keep this place pure, pristine and wholesome. Just like GN'R... Is this better? Like I said, do your thing. Izzy and Slash are the best guitar duo ever, they complement each other because they have different styles. They chose different career paths so the thought of one being jealous of the other makes me lmao. Slash is a character, a rock legend on his own, he doesn't need GNR (GNR needed him, at least that's what the NITL numbers say) while Izzy is a laid back no bullshit guy that lives very happy without the spotlight and doesn't need GNR either. It's not a competition and they cannot be more different, musically and personally.

What do you guys think? Somehow I assume Izzy must be a wee bit disappointed and maybe even envious. He knows he deserves more recognition and praise for his songwriting after all. It must bugger him. Or maybe it's just me and it buggers me. I dont think it bothers him at all. If anything he must be quite amused by the whole thing. If he really cared about praise, and adulation he probably would be more out there. he'd tour, promote his music more and stuff like that. Like Niven said once, he could of been like a sort of Tom Petty. But Izzy dont care about that. he just does everything low-key, stress/bullshit free. With Slash, The look, combined with the signature sound of his is what gets him alot of praise and overrates him quite a bit. He's not technical, nor groundbreaking. But he has an instantly recognizable tone and playing that can sorta mesh with various styles of music. IMO shredders and these technique guys are quite boring, Id say 98% of them sound like robots. Or you have guys like a Joe Bonamassa who is a great guitarist, but his influences are so obvious in his licks that he at times sounds like a parity, like a Clapton or Kossoff ripoff.
Archtop
Whilst we are on guitarists, how does Rick Richards stand up? I have both Georgia Satellites and In the land of salvation and sin. He seems to be another really good understated guitarist, who seems to have taken the decision to be low key. This might be my impression because I'm in the UK, I,m not sure how big they were in the US.

Speaking of Georgia Sattelites: I literally found out day before yesterday that I must have had some EP or single from the Georgia Sattelites way back when they played Hippie Hippie Shake for that film. I never remembered the band's name, funnily. But when I listend to their version of HHS I knew that was the one I've had. (Was that understandable? I'm tired and my english is gone...) Darkenchantress
Don't get me wrong, I'll take Slash over any shredder any day, they bore me to death. I'll always choose feelings over technique. About Rick, he is an awesome guitarist, I haven't really paid much attention to Georgia Satellites (I must!) but I do love the southern rock sound he gives to Izzy's songs. And his slide guitar is magic.

I think slash is a virtuoso, I listen to his solos and I do not understand his magic, he is sensual, relaxed and raw at the same time, it's an incredible sensation when you hear it ... but Izzy in a certain way is something bigger ... his riffs are like a Ax sharp, the rhythm goes just in time, carefree but concentrated at the same time and without doubt represents an attitude .. when I listen to Izzy is a whole .. is rock n roll, pure and old school, instead slash is a trademark (Which is not bad, is different) anyway when I listen to them, together or separately they break my head in pieces. So i don't know ... i think his feelings about GNR and each member changes in each interview depending if they were talking to each other in that moment but if he was jealous or something , he shouldn't... i think he has something more pure that our beloved Slash
MillionsOfSpiders
Slash is way more than a "trademark." He has a unique sound, you instantly know it's him playing the guitar and he is beyond mesmerising live. He deserves his guitar god status

I always thought that if Metallica did something similar, they would have bunch of therapists in front of stage instead of models..... 2 hours ago, MillionsOfSpiders said: I'm wondering what the other 30% were??
