  1. Catcher for me. I mean, it's a pretty cool song, but in my eyes, it suffers with that Axl's clean and weak voice - yes, even on the record. Imagine if he did it with the slight rasp a la Estranged ("When I find out all the reasons / Maybe I'll find another way..."), now that would have made the song levels better.

I'm coming in off-topic in this thread but I've done that thing (you all do) when I've had a couple of glasses of wine and went YouTube surfing the very finest GN'R videos. I saw them 3 times last year and swore every time that they were utterly tremendous. To the extent I'm flying down to Daytona Beach from New York next month to do it once more time.

But I noticed something. I have been a long time defender of Axl's live singing voice because I swear, when you're there, he sounds like does on the records. But watching back the videos, the enormous regression between 2019 and 2021 is startling. I'm basing this mainly on Live and Let Die because as recently as 2016-2019 he sounded incredible doing that scream. Now? He skips the start, and gives a version of it that is what you'd expect as a nostalgia play from a classic rock band. But yet he looks healthier than he has done in years.

The obvious point is, clearly, they are an ageing rock band and maybe it's hard to let it go. But Axl turned it on so hard in the big moments live in recent years, I'll be sad if that's something that is fading. I don't really have a real point here worth further debate but if I can't share it here then what's the point, right?

First off, there's no "off-topic" in this thread, is there. Secondly, you're right, and it only pissess one off even more when you realize he's wrecked most of his throat with a different band (from Australia) and instead of ending his own band's tour on time logically (i.e. the end of 2017), he went on destroying his cords on subsequent unnecessary tours, while he should have played it safe, given it a rest, created new music etc. It's all really frustrating.

  3. One thing: even though MTV 2002 didn't catch him (or them) at his best, the initial howl was the longest one he's ever done, if I'm not mistaken. Never before or after did he start at the very beginning and went all the way till the end. Too bad the rest was... well...

  4. The song choice not only wasn't bad, but it was downright ideal. PC as a song with an undisputed status (and a positive vibe in general), and KOHD for obvious reasons... I mean, what else should they have played? SCOM is about a girl, I don't know. Jungle is about the wild street life etc., not sure if that would have been the best choice, would have sounded like pure self-promotion to me under those circumstances. DC too depressing, NR too long and what with the piano and all, Nightrain is about booze, which would have made no sense there, what else, Mr. Brownstone?

This choice was perfect, and even the sequence, when you think about it - first introduce the band, then pull the main song, which in this case was KOHD, peaking its fame.

Thing is, without cubanskiesdummy and pele this forum is going to be drier then ever!

There'll be the usual build up to the first show (i dont even know when that is this year my expectations are so low), a 40 page thread moaning that the setlist is worse then ever and a few posts about Axl's gut.

And i really do not expect a new single this year at all.

Even so, blame Axl, not people being fed up with trolls.

  6. Once we’re done, please let’s not forget about the outliers, singles etc., before we do some final face off or whatever.
Sympathy, OMG, SOYL, the latest singles, I’d even include stuff like Heartbreak Hotel, Dead Flowers etc.
(On the other hand, one that’d I’d definitely avoid would be making a poll about (or including them somewhere else) the Village tracks. As if we haven’t had enough of those lists...)

    WTF is this??

This site is really running low on options.

A poll on what the lyrics of a non-existant album are going to be about!!

Lets have a poll on who Axl will thank in the liner notes.

Or whether song 3 will be better than the song 5.

How many pages will the booklet be?

How many words will in the title?

It's not like there's otherwise shitloads of stuff to talk about...

  8. Pretty cool. And I like the minor stories between some of the characters, like the chief commander or Eugene. I hope they'll deal with that cunt of a son, ideally by ousting him to the wilderness. Plus they need to overthrow those in charge and come together (also with Rick!). At this point, I hope Negan will survive too.

Red Hot Chili Peppers are absolutely one of the WORST bands ever to make it big. Right up there with Nickelback.

Meanwhile, people rip Greta Van Fleet for being a Led Zeppelin clone, but those kids can actually play and write good songs.

I basically agree the general sentiment, only I wouldn't put RHCP, out of all bands, as an example. I'd select something like Linkin Park, which is utter, pretentious crap.
