Well. Make a poll. For me it never was about lyrics. It always was about the music and performance. And I'd say for that type of music that is the majority. Of course, if you look at an artist like, say, Melissa Etheridge, lyrics are a different thing and much of the connection is lyrical. But that's a different type of genre/thing altogether. I don't think that applies to the average fan of the average rock/hard rock/heavy metal band (or many other genres). And for the record, I personally prefer for lyrics to not be insultingly dumb or simple, but at the end of the day, it's the music for that counts. If the lyrics are great, but the music sucks, that won't make me listen to somthing. But if the lyrics suck, but the music is great, I still will stick around. -

And that conclusion doesn't make too much sense, if you listen to and look at the actions of the people that matter most. Axl and Slash. And Duff and the others. -

It may matter to some. But I bet the majority of music listeners around the world don't give a flying fuck about the lyrics. Most probably don't even understand them properly. -

Oh, but have you??? Both Axl and Duff are quoted in saying it's all rumours and nonsense. Not sure, why you are so determined to cling to a supposed reunion that never happened. Again, a one off flys in to the face of everything that Axl was trying to accomplish at the time. -

Can't you read?? "It’s going to be looked at historically as their best record, I think." Who cares about mature lyrics in a hard rock/sleaze rock/heavy metal/ whatever album?? People don't connect with the lyrics. They connect with the music in the first place. And the lyrics were good enough for that -

Oh, right... he added "I think" at the end, to not appear as the most arrogant, deluded and biased douche. Doesn't change that fact, that he seems to be a total arrogant prick, judging by all that's known about him. -

You don't know to whom all he may have been referring. Fact is, Merck got fired. He wouldn't have gotten fired if Axl was pleased with everything he did. And just because many people speak of something or of perceived hints, doesn't mean it's true. Everything in Axl's demanour back then suggests it's bullshit. At that time Axl still had something to prove. To just reunite with Slash, would have shat into the face of everything he tried to do since they split up. -

So what?? Doesn't mean he still can be a biased idiot. And I take anything Duff and Slash put out over his stuff anyday. -

Merck did get fired, no? Axl spoke of management pressuring him into doing a reunion, no?? Doesn't mean it was close or something he ever considered to do in those years. -

By whom?? Certainly no one that matters. Back then the man that matters most still had only the worst to say about Slash. On more than one occasion. And what's the point of a one-off, when they still can't stand each other/had issues. -

Right. That's why in the years after Axl still called Slash a cancer and that the reunion would happen not in this lifetime. It's pretty much bullshit what you say here regarding the reunion. -

Funny that his favourite is the only one he played on. And wasn't he the guy, who wasn't a GNR fan before joining? So what does he know? He's clearly not one to talk. And yeah, he's definitely subjective. -
The one time he wasn't childlike.

Oh, I think a sold out stadium is a beautiful thing. Turning around and seeing a stadium full of people, is an amazing thing. That said, I never would want to be one of those people seen, when people in the front turn around. Glad though that there are people happy to be in the back or we would have a problem.
-
As long as (enough) money is to be made and they are continuesly booked into stadiums, they are a stadium act. If promoters loose money, booking them there and they stop booking them there, then they are no stadium act (in North America) anymore. Though they still are in the rest of the world. So maybe that says more about americans than about them.
-
And yet they did stadiums again in North America. So it was financially viable or they would stop doing that. And I recall back in '21 some of these charts looked bad too. Well, if they go to a rock concert and cry about lack of pyro, they must have. I say, if it's not proper, impressive pyro, it's not worth the effort, as it doesn't really enhance anything.
