I can't see Expedia or whatever giving me a refund either, fuck it, if I can go I'm gonna go, it'll at least be something fucking different, walking around a deserted fuckin' Berlin with the missus   As long as I can get some booze somewhere I'll be fine.

Well. In this instance I think you have good chances. Maybe not a full refund but a coupon or something. I guess it wouldn't hurt to ask. Of course depending what exactly and with whom you've booked. And in case there is a still active travel warning, you might have even better chances.

I am afraid it is unlikely you will get to go on this vacation. Most likely there will be severe travel restrictions by then, and probably most things shut down in Berlin.

I have already cancelled a trip for later this week (Paris), will likely cancel a trip in mid-April (south of Norway), and unfortunately also have probably to cancel a trip in May (Dubai) and June (San Diego). This is not going away anytime soon.

Yeah. That sucks. Luckily I only booked one of my flights for this year (Dublin for only 99 €). But then again. If the airline cancels it, I might even get my money back. I had planned to go to the Toronto/Chicago area in late july. Not sure what to do about that. I guess I will wait as long as possible and then see if I can get a flight. Already have a bunch of concert tickets though.

Same here. There were a few days right at the beginning when some people got a bit panicky and started stockpiling stuff. Fortunately it is back to normal now, the shops are well stocked and people seems to be less stressed out.

I have to say that people really come together beautifully in times of need. There are lots of reports of people helping each other, showing solidarity, making an effort, donating, etc. Warms my heart.

Yeah. I guess people just need to adjust to the situation.

I don’t get it. Live nation books guns gigs, right? So would the festival organizers sue live nation and guns?

With Axls history I’m sure he has to be careful to not miss shows. Like how he launched nitl with broken foot.

but it’s ultimately live nation that Axl needs to prove himself too. And live nation has postponed all its tours. So Axl wouldn’t be letting them down at all.

Mogwai pulled out of that festival due to the virus. Surely guns could afford the penalties more than mogwai?

if that article is accurate it seems that guns just chose not to loose the money?

Well. Most likely GNR wanted to do the tour. Otherwise they would have just fallen in line with Live Nation and AEG pulling all their major tours. They only stopped when Governments shut shit down.

I suppose the idea is when there's a virus out one should curb their spontaenaity.  I being quite hypocritical here cuz I haven't curbed shit   But I'm talking about the idea here.

EDIT:  you've been to a shitload of gigs man, fuck!

Yeah, well, spontaenaity is a thing of the past (or should be, but fuck it, if I want it, I still go get it), like going to many gigs. I got about 30 planned for this year. I wonder how many I will actually get to see. ;)
Yeah, the idea is to limit the amount one has to go to the store, hence "hoarding".

It appears to me, the time of normal peaceful trips to the grocery stores are pretty much behind us, sadly.

Speaking of, I just was at the store and it looked pretty peaceful to me. And everything was stocked.

  6. 5 minutes ago, Len Cnut said:

Who the fuck goes grocery shopping every day?

Well, if you want fresh stuff. Like salad and fruit and shit, once a week might not do it. Anyway, it was an example. Let it be every second or every third day. Or simply if you spontaniously want stuff. Whatever. The idea behind "hoarding" is to limit the times you have to go to the store and not the hoarding per se. Of course, that's the theory. Someone buying 750 rolls of toilet paper and 100 kg of pasta is a different story.

belgium will implement this measure, as of tomorrow. i'm starting to see the benefit of why people were hoarding earlier.

Yeah. It's quite obvious. Get everything you think you might need in one Outing, limiting the exposure, instead of having to go out every other day. Makes sense and has nothing to do with senseless hording.

So a shit-ton of people flood into a shop all at once like some kind of mass riot to strip the place of beans and toilet rolll...and thats somehow less contact than a weekly normal sedate trip to the supermarket.  I don't get it.

You only go to the shop once, instead of every day.

for some reason I think that article is not true axl seemed to be in a good mood at the concert, and they played a ''rare song'' if he was upset why would reward people who went to the festival with a 'new song' they could just played the same setlist with the adition of DH and crazy, this thing was for another reason, and i think he's the type of person who doesn't care about contracts if he doesn't want to do it he just dont and bc hes rich lol

Because the attending people at the Festival are not responsible if the organizers are dicks!? But yeah, I also feel he was in a good mood and judging by the hanger-ons social medias they all were quite happy to go on tour again. So really, I take this article with a big grain of salt.

It's because then they don't have to offer any financial support, nor do the insurance companies, if the decision is left up to the business owners.  It's disgusting.

Yeah. It is. Both stateside and companyside. In my company they've been throwing the term home office/tele working around, but no real information on who is allowed to do that. You basically have to beg them with them being able to simply deny it. I feel stupid having to ask for it (and then being denied) as I'm not really scared, but if there is a possibility to stay home I rather would. It feels pointless going to work in a time like this, when everything is shut down. They should offer it, to everyone who is interested/has a job that can be done from home.

The advice is still mixed though - if you're telling people not to go to pubs etc, then why not just order them closed?

Yeah. That would be the most sensible thing. Like this no one would feel left out, being punk'd by the media, being victim to false fear and thinking 'Am I stupid for staying home, while everyone is out having fun.'. Shut that shit down and no one is conflicted. Same as with concerts. But it really should go a step further and most jobs should be shut down/sent to work from home too. You shouldn't have to beg for it.

  11. Currently rewatching Friends, for the first time since it ended in 2004. In the middle of season 5 right now and it's still as fun as it was the first time around.

As for serious stuff, finally concluding Haven, as I've missed it the first time it was on Amazon. Took a while to get back into it, but now real fun. Just a total different thing binge watching it, instead of having to wait for weeks and months between episodes/seasons.

Still your choice though. Money or health, seems like a easy choice.

But you shouldn't be forced to have to choose to lose money. Not when concerts around the world get cancelled and postponed.

I agree with B, that is obviously why sporting events, festivals, concerts etc are being shut down b/c dumbasses like you would decide to go anyway.

If you do not understand the implications of A, then you are ignorant, sorry but it is true.

I see only one dumbass here. The passive agressive one, who can't argue things without insulting others and is too stupid to get what others are saying. But that's the dumbass everyone here knows.

As opposed to getting or spreading a very contagious virus that could have serious implications on the health of someone you know and care about, let alone yourself?  OK then.

    A) going to that Festival doesn't mean you're bound to walk home with that virus and B) Cancelling the Festival would ensure, that no one would have to take the risk and fans would get their money back. B would be better than forcing scared people to flush their money down the toilet.

I wonder about those quarantines...I understand the reason for it, to slow down the spread and all, but if I go quarantine today then after two weeks I'll be allowed to go out again but then the virus won't have magically dissapeared all of a sudden. So it's gonna be quarantine after quarantine or what? And for how long? I don't really want to think about it. :(

Yeah. Now they go into overdrive. Lock everything up. Shut everything down. Tell people to isolate themselves. But what happens in 2 weeks? 1 month? They realize they can't keep this up forever. People won't want to keep this up forever. And then what? They tell people to go back to their normal lives, even though nothing really has changed?

Not sure about Ozzy. He's postponed his tour until after his surgery and and gets well.

Yeah. That will be fun. He was supposed to go to Switzerland to see a doctor in march. That's not going to happen now. And I think that was supposed to happen before any touring. I wonder how that will play out.

Their show (festival) last night was 2 1/2 hours. I went to a festival last year with Guns (twice, actually), and their set was 2 1/2 hours both times. We've become accustomed to them playing 3 hour shows, so that's what I'm going off of in terms of "full show." They took out all non-GN'R covers last night, why? Time constraints. They did the same at my festival shows last year.

But that is not the norm. I saw them at 3 festivals and they played their 3+ hour shows. It totally depends on the festival and many times they are given the time to play the full show.

  17. 12 minutes ago, GNRfanJen said:

I am giving them the benefit of the doubt. Festivals are notably a shortened setlist due to time constraints. Go figure that what they decide to cut out is the cool, new stuff. But to me this shows that the intention is there and it WILL be played. I hope?

No, they are not. It depends on the festival. All festivals i'ven seen them at, they played the full show.
