  1. What makes sense can differ depending on perspective. For Slash fans or fans of GN'R adhering to a certain sound, then it makes perfect sense to have Slash play the leads. For fans who simply prefer Buckethead or Robin Finck and want the GN'R music to sound as good as possible to them, it makes perfect sense to not want Slash added to these songs. It is all about perspective, there is no objective truth here.
  2. So sad for Liverpool, so, so , so sad. First we knocked them out of the FA cup, then we pushed them off the the top of the table, and not a mid-tier Italian team is about to end their European dreams. So, so sad for Klopp.
  3. This reminds me of how great the original is. Slash's version is very true to the original up until the last minute where he freestyles more with the outro solo - which is nothing special.
  4. Anyone know when this photo was taken? I need to put it at the right place inn the history, together with this quote from the band's chiropractor, Stephen Thaxton: "Truly mind boggling to me [that they didn't injure themselves]. [Axl and Slash] came off of those ramps, and you know, in the show, in the heat of the moment, just, I guess all the adrenaline must've really been beneficial to them because to this day, I still think about on a regular basis coming off of those ramps, jumping, it was pretty impressive athletic athleticism on both of their parts. It really was."
  5. But I can't say that all the originals are better than Slash's cover versions. In my opinion a cover can be better than an original. I don't know what the case is with this album until I have actually heard the songs. So I simply can't say it. But I can say that a cover of Oh Well will never be better than the original of that song, to me, because it has a very special place in my heart that transcends most of the criteria for which we enjoy music.
  6. Do we all agree now that Slash must have been responsible for the mess with streaming The General? Because he is the only common denominator between these fuckups. No wait, he must have hired Team Brazil.
  7. The 2019 interview that GN'R Central did with studio engineer Dave Dominguez. I just transcribed it: (30) 2019.01.16 - GN'R Central - Interview with Dave Dominguez (studio engineer) (a-4-d.com)
  8. Because Axl, who is famous for being very particularly about how his music is presented, doesn't just post videos of himself playing his music on YouTube, you conclude with certainty that he doesn't create music anymore? Really? Look, we know Axl has stopped talking about new music he might have created, and we know he has no problems just sitting on music for ages. Example, if it weren't for the fact that he played an Elvis Prestley cover song he had created - all by himself, about 27 years ago - for some friends and one of them decided to talk about it, we wouldn't have known about the existence of this tune. We have absolutely no idea what else might exist or if he has stopped creating music now. Anyone who claim they know are talking out of their asses, and usually out of frustration.
  9. I know, I just read the Wikipedia article on it A magnificent guitar in magnificent hands. Peter Green will always be my favorite when it comes to tone.
  10. No need to wait. Just listen to the original. It doesn't get better than this.
  11. I wonder if the Elvis Prestley song Axl covered will be released as a solo song or as a GN'R song?
  12. I will always want more music. Because I like GN'R. Why would I prefer not hearing more of music I like? As for closure. I don't think I was ever that emotionally attached that I needed some kind of closure to move on. I would be disappointed, though, if I never got to hear more of the CD era music.
  13. Dalot cheating? He didn't for one second protest against the penalty. But yeah, Fernandes dives too much. I wasn't much happy about Mount coming to United but he played really well the few minutes he got yesterday. Annoying result. We usually always beat Chelsea, and should have yesterday, too.
  14. The rumors really started in late 2018 when Mitch Lafon mentioned that the band might have recorded the cover and that it would be included on an upcoming T-Rex tribute project (Angelheaded Hipster - Another Look at Marc Bolan). The producer of this project (Hal Wilmer) quickly shot down the rumors, stating that the cover of Children of the Revolution to be featured in this project was recorded by Kesha, not GN'R. But interestingly, Wilmer also stated that there were rumors that GN'R with Axl had recorded the song, but for another project....
  15. Cool! I picked up a 1987 German pressing while in Germany in 1988. Now I know what it is worth.
  16. Very disorganized and definitely something that needs to be cleaned up, but this thread has a few contemporary reviews of Appetite: (22) Appetite for Destruction (a-4-d.com)
