  1. after thinking about what you've said here, I must agree that I can see how this indeed could be really cool, if done right. Again...if done right.
  2. The General's chorus has been stuck in my head for about 2 weeks now. Also, the outro is intoxicating on headphones.
  3. when you're upset, you act like a silly fool. Doesn't mean he's usually a silly fool. In general, you're not wrong, but specifically with that poster, it doesn't reflect his usual post quality imo.
  4. he's a good poster imho. Just seems deeply let down for some childish reason. Like this is not Gn'R and it's not just rock music we feel so strongly about heh
  5. this pleases me. Good taste you've got there.
  6. yes, and in the past shit that was said in Gn'R forums has influenced Axl when it came to even artistic choices as I see it, so it's possible. I guess I wonder what is the ratio between Axl just releasing tunes cause he's still attached to the material and how much he cares about what fans want or like and if since the release of Chinese Democracy in 2008, he factors fans opinions more, less, or not at all. I think that in the end, maybe he mostly stays the course of taking into consideration what it is he wants to do now and how he wants to go about it. the return of Slash and Duff to Gn'R could have changed what Axl feels is appropriate to release and how, not just his level of motivation.
  7. how many fans actually want a movie that centers around Rey? I didn't like that character at all, but maybe enough people do.
  8. I just go back to Absurd and how there was zero hype for Silkworms basically, and Axl chose to release that as the first single from the NITL lineup and it seems he had intentions of releasing it even in 2013. I'm speculating that maybe the motivation to release Absurd is the same motivation to release those other singles, mainly at least.
  9. no, I honestly like it and think it's a good song and other fans seems to feel the same way too. Many others seems to share your opinion but that doesn't mean that the fans who do like it are lying, or lying to themselves lol it's a pretty arrogant thing to say actually "let's be honest, what I personally think about it is the only real truth".
  10. I mean, maybe the hype was not a part of it, it's just Axl slowly releasing tunes he still wants to release when it feels like the right time for him to do so.
  11. possible, or maybe Axl just simply likes The General and he wanted to release it, just like Absurd.
  12. I believe Axl was telling the truth when he said the second half of Chinese was completed and I also think (as I've said before) that a full album's worth of tunes with complete vocals exists. the locker leaks just don't represent everything Axl kept in his hard drives if I had to guess, it's not even close. Some of us assume that we have a pretty good idea of how much work was completed, but we don't cause Axl never talked about it in detail. it's likely that there are many, many instrumentals/material that Axl has worked on in various stages of completion.
  13. yeah, some fans were disappointed. IIRC, before the release of Prostitute Tommy said that it was better than SCOM. After listening to the song for the first time, it wasn't what I was expecting, but I think it's one of the stronger tunes on the album.
  14. is Axl still interested in creating again brand new shit is the question I ask myself. I mean, I would like for him to give a try just to see if they can still create. We know Slash and Duff are still motivated and don't miss a step when it comes to releasing new music. My guess is that Axl is still capable, but that won't matter if he lost the motivation to do it. having said that, they don't have to succeed in creating a full album to see if they still have the chemistry to create. Start with one song, or even record covers. Take a riff from Slash, give Slash and Duff new lyrics. There are so many ways this could become a reality, but I think that even if Axl wants to do it and is planning to do a new album, his standards of what a Gn'R album is supposed to do as in a musical statement could still have the potential to become a problem. I think there is still a chance they might surprise us, but that if it happens, it won't be soon. We don't even know if Axl won't just go back to his hard drives and ask Slash and Duff to work on more Chinese tunes, we really don't have any idea, even if Slash said what he said in interviews.
  15. I think we're going in circles here. Like I've said before, I have no problem with differing opinions. What I find annoying is when posters try to put more weight and significance on their own opinions compared to others just cause they somehow convinced themselves that they know better, which doesn't lead to a quality discussion. it's not personal, I would reply in the same manner to anyone who starts a sentence with "opinions are just like assholes" just to end it by completely contradicting themselves and showing they don't really believe that their opinion is just their opinion.
  16. I enjoy The General as its own thing. It doesn't take anything from how much I enjoy it just cause it's not as good as some of the other Gn'R tunes, especially from 30 plus years ago when they were still at their peak. And honestly, it's exactly what you've said. Just elitist gate keeping nonsense. I'm all for discussing Gn'R, but your post was very condescending and just seemed ego driven for the purpose of making you feel good about your superior taste and vast knowledge in music juts cause you don't care for The General. it's not a big deal, I just thought it was ridiculous of you to suggest something must have been lacking in the listener's musical experience and they were ignorant in case they thought The General is an amazing track. Surely you can see the problem with this way of thinking.
  17. knowing the difference between opinions and facts is a great skill to have in life. Something you seem to lack. @janrichmond is never shy when it comes to expressing her opinions, but she also never tried to pass her opinion as fact which makes her not annoying.
  18. I don't think so. I believe that all Axl said was that the Chinese tunes that new Gn'R played live in early 2000's before tha album dropped weren't the big guns (the blues, madagascar, riad, Chinese, silkworms)
  19. "if you actually think this song is amazing, then you're not listening to music correctly and should work on expanding your musical knowledge" give me a fuckin' break.
  20. it would be nice if the next one we'll get (if) would be something we have yet to get a chance to listen to, at least with vocals we've never heard from Axl. So personally, for me, even if it's one of the locker leaks instrumentals with great Axl vocals would be much more exciting compared to unreleased locker leaks tunes with vocals we've already heard, even if I think Atlas and State Of Grace should be released, along with every other tune that had vocals (Eye On You included but I don't know how likely that is) to answer the OP question, you just never know with Axl when it comes to what he's going to release or not release next. according to Bumble, Axl wanted Atlas to be included on Chinese Democracy so my guess is that at least at some point that will be released. Monsters should be released as well imo and I think they intended for it to be released but we were unlucky. (at least we have the leak of it for now so it's cool)
  21. again with the team meetings and tales of your wondrful career how impressive. Look... it's not about you, I'm not trying to be a dick here, just trying to explain to you that your opinion is just that, your opinion and nothing more. You do your thing, but it's just subjective shit we're talking about here. your extensive personal experience in "the biz" doesn't make you less wrong, that's just a fact. I mean no offense.
