  1. I think Slash is an icon that will become a legend. part of it is his unique talent and image and the other part is always staying relevant in pop culture. things like the I'm Just Ken collaboration and the oscars performance with Ryan Gosling, guitar hero, being like a semi- session musician on the side and always working and being open to almost anything he can relate to is smart and it paid off big time for him imo. Scott talked about how he appreciated how Slash managed to grow his brand name to such an extent or something like that. when you're portrayed in such a way Slash did in South Park, you know you did something right. He's more relevant than Gn'R is imo and it's like Metallica's master of puppets in Stranger Things for example. Slash's influence crosses generations which is the highest level of making it as an artist/musician in the industry.
  2. first of all, Axl never said anything about a sequel that would be out when Geffen got tired of promoting the first album. no idea where you got that from. second: have you noticed how Axl doesn't promise anything anymore when it comes to new material? won't even talk about it until after a release of a piece of music and even then, he doesn't go into detail. no release dates, but also not saying it will never happen. maybe he does this to avoid putting pressure on himself and to not get our hopes up. I think Axl functions as a musician mainly for himself, not us. we can talk about respect until we're blue in the face, doesn't change the fact that Axl has the power and the means to live his life the way he wants to live it which seems to be without the pressure of a deadline when it comes to his music. that's Axl it seems. tommorow is not promised to anyone sure, but the point here I think, that should Axl choose to release more music, there's a chance it would happen, still. maybe he'll just finish what he started with the Chinese era material, maybe eventually an album beyond that, or maybe nothing at all. it's his choice cause it's not against the law to not be prolific and it's been long enough imo, for us to accept the situation for what it is: Axl is not a prolific musician and lives according to his own prefernces which include taking shit super slow. the sooner you accept it, the better and you can enjoy what we do have. At least Axl still seems open to sharing more Gn'R music with the rest of the world. it's not great, but it's better than nothing.
  3. you're presenting it like Axl is as old as David Attenborough. Before he dies, in this lifetime, there is still probably enough time to live his life the way he chooses to and complete and release a final Gn'R album all the while being perfectly aware that his time on this earth is finite. the cooks and the plumbers don't exactly share Axl's lifestyle either (basically living like a king) when you're as rich as Axl is, it allows you to use your time to do mostly whatever the fuck you want, and spend your time focusing on your interests instead of the everyday shit most people must invest their time in. it also affords you the best of everything, including doctors, food, and just in general, shit that extends your life to some degree. all these things should be considered when discussing about how much time Axl still got to extend the Gn'R catalog in a more meaningful way and again, Axl does his own thing and seems like a pretty unique person that none of us actually know, but my guess is that he's very aware of himself like I've said previously. there's technically still time for him to make it happen imo.
  4. but how would you know what Axl wants to do just because he's aware time is passing and he won't live forever? especially a guy like Axl which has made choices that maybe most in his place would not make and we don't really know this person. there's evidence Axl is highly intelligent imho and too much of what you say in your post is guess work. for all you know he's aware of all of that and more and still chooses to take his approach and live in the pace he's living in. doesn't mean he doesn't know, just that his priorities, motivations, and challenges could be different to other people.
  5. it could be, but even if I think Axl is an experienced singer and I believe everything Duff said about how Axl knows how to use his voice and gets into the details of how to use it live, as singers age and if it's challenging material, the only way to actually know if you can still pull it off according to the quality standard you've set for yourself is to try it and sometimes after you fail, you adjust. this doesn't mean that just because Axl recognizes the vocal areas which he is now weaker in, he'll use all the tricks in the book so to speak to make it easier on himself or "make it sound better" for anyone else other than himself by going with the more sensible option physically speaking and that's cause maybe he prefers to still go for it with his reduced abilities instead of singing lower, in different key, etc. just sharing thoughts here.
  6. I think that maybe you're jumping to conclusions there. I believe Axl is aware of age limitations as a singer and maybe he's aware of a lot of other stuff as well but there are other possibilities like for example, he knows the clock is ticking, but he made his choices anyway, whatever those may be, or he's aware, but doesn't have the control, ability, or cares to change the way he moves through life as a person and a musician. we just can't know these things, but my guess is the Chinese era is not done the way he sees it and maybe he feels he needs to complete that first up to a certain point that he decided on or until it feels like it's enough for him to move to a new thing (or maybe he has already)
  7. Dave Abbruzzese interview where he talks about his time in Gn'R and Axl. not sure if this is new and the audio quality is not very good, but found it interesting (Gn'R part starts at the 51:13 mark)
  8. which is all I was trying to say really. anything is still possible, even a last Guns album, and even with what we know about Axl and how slow his process is and the amount of original material we got from Gn'R. if it's going to happen, it's not going to happen in the near future, but it's far from impossible for Axl, Slash, Duff and the rest of the current Gn'R lineup to accomplish it, even if it happens years from now.
  9. it's not over until Gn'R is over when it comes to a potential final Guns album. A hard concept to grasp for some people it seems so even when Duff is not flat out avoiding the question of a new album, somehow that is also a reason to think it will never happen.
  10. we'll see. you can't tell the future, no matter how many times you say "it's never going to happen". it might happen, eventually.
  11. the post you make when you've got nothing. what new album? no idea what you're talking about.
  12. another very good example of what I was talking about... where in any of my posts did I say that I think a new album is imminent? you've made this exact same comment in the past. and no, cynicism is not the only way to "handle" or to cope with Axl rarely releasing Gn'R music. that's ridiculous. why would Duff say that we'll get the answer to the question of the release of more material if he knew in absolute certainty that nothing was coming? it makes no sense. I'd say that lowering your expectations and taking everything with a grain of salt is a good approach without making this shit a big deal. at least it's better compared to whatever you're doing which involves ignoring what people are actually posting, including myself, but you do you thing, I was hoping you'll see what I was talking about and maybe take the shitposting down a notch. sometimes it seems that even attempting to be objective is not something you're interested in. just blaming Axl for being himself and not accepting Gn'R for what it is. (not a prolific band) good luck to you in your search of self awareness and have a wonderful day.
  13. sure, it's obvious that the answer is not that, but that particular poster likes to spin shit in a negative way on pretty much every chance he gets, often ignoring what was actually said. (no offense @allwaystired, I've just noticed you doing this shit for years now)
  14. Slash also said that he presses really hard on the strings, that's a part of his playing style which makes a guitar go out of tune even more, especially a LP.
  15. I guess "soon enough" is in this lifetime for most here, unless you get hit by a train or something
  16. yeah the song Duff mentioned he wrote is only a potential Gn'R tune. Bumble also thought his song ideas could make good Gn'R tunes even if he clearly didn't have the same status as Duff. Slash has his Gn'R riffs ideas and there are some rumors by people you've mentioned. all comes down to what Axl wants to do, and how long it would take, but Axl doesn't seem like a guy who likes to do many things at once and he toured for a long time with the NITL lineup. Slash and Duff doing their own thing does make it feel like maybe Axl is on a break, but I think that how jaded Axl made a lot of Gn'R fans feel has made it seem like it most likely would never happen when it comes to more than just a few more old Chinese tunes, and that's not really how I look at it, just that it's all still on Axl time.
  17. no, Metal Chestnut is an instrumental and there is no confirmation that Axl is playing on it.
  18. I think they're a little bit older and wiser now. Slash and Duff don't push Axl anymore to do anything, just there to help him out if/when he wants to rework/create/release more material. there seems to be an understanding between them and no pressure on Axl to meet any deadlines. that could lead even years from now, to an eventual release of a full album, or at least more single releases of old material since reworking a song with existing parts doesn't seem like a difficult task for Slash and Duff to do, and they seem willing to wait for Axl to do it in his own time. given the fact Axl and Gn'R almost don't share any detailed information, I choose to not jump to conclusions about what we'll get, if we get it in the near and distant future. the name of the game here is time. as far as we know, Axl views touring as work and working on Chinese for years could mean he prefers to take even more time between studio projects, especially if it's a Gn'R thing. it's just my take on it, I am more on the optimistic side of a Gn'R fan and shit like the Perhaps music video and the release of the singles makes me think we could get more original cool shit from Gn'R but if it happens, it will involve waiting for it as always.
  19. at first, Slash said they've reworked "a lot" of tunes, but then he wasn't sure about how many tunes he worked on. I'm assuming they've worked on 5-6 tunes, but what's stopping them from reworking more tunes? from the Chinese era or even before that? (other than Axl not being interested which we don't know the status of his current levels of motivation) there's no shortage of ideas to work on according to Duff, there's the option to work on new material as well, and there is plenty of time to make a final record. we have no idea what exactly Axl wants to do, so saying they're going to release just 1 or 2 songs and that's it seems short sighted. Gn'R is not over yet. they have years to make shit happen. if Axl cares about the legacy of Gn'R and he believes the catalog should be extended, there is still a good chance we'll eventually get more than just a few tunes imo.
  20. yeah, but less so. the way I understand it, Duff is basically hinting at more releases that are going to happen which is positive, if you take into consideration that things move very slowly in Gn'R land and are always subject to change but we do have 4 Chinese singles and a leaked Monsters with probably a lot of Chinese era instrumentals to rework should Axl choose to do so and even older material than that possibly exist. if Axl wants to release a final Gn'R album before Gn'R is over, there is still time to do it but that would have to contain at least some brand new material I think. it's difficult to even make an educated guess when it comes to how Axl would approach another release if, for example, what Slash and Duff reworked will also get released and it's only Monsters and maybe another tune. Axl can ask Slash and Duff to rework more Chinese era tunes or focus on working on a full album instead which could be a hybrid of different eras of the band with new material also included. important thing to remember imho is that even if it takes years, it's still possible we'll get something more than just a song or two here and there.
  21. I think there's a difference between taking years to release Gn'R tunes and not having any plans or desire to release more material, even some new stuff. Duff seems confident we'll get more and even says we'll know about it and not in the distant future. considering it's Axl and the history of very little amounts of material getting released, it doesn't seem like much but I believe there is still a lot that Gn'R can do with the amount of material Axl probably got laying around with Slash and Duff there to come up with new ideas for Axl to use. I also think that when it comes to Axl, some things didn't change like how long it takes him to move when it comes to new releases, but it's not like there's still any pressure to release anything so that means Axl can work on it sporadically for example and finish and release material when he chooses to do it. my guess is Axl didn't lose interest in releasing more Gn'R material if Duff is expressing himself in this way in interviews and Slash talking about wanting to do brand new stuff. the 3 of them must have discussed it at least by now and while it's easy to dismiss this shit as not significant cause it's not detailed, I don't see why Duff would be relatively this optimistic and open and not try to avoid the question. would be much safer to give a more "don't get your hopes up" or say again that they want to "keep it mysterious" imo.
  22. sometimes you can read between the lines, and Slash2Baz used to post here too with a lot of info that turned out to be true. he's like one of those rare cases of a super Slash fan insider guy. I hope it's going to be great, time will tell.
