This weekend I listened to both Use Your Illusion 1 and 2, front to back, for the first time in several years. I've always heard comments like "endless filler," but I don't think so. Even lesser songs like "Shotgun Blues" and "You Ain't the first" are good. Then there are terrific songs like "The Garden" and "Garden of Eden," and "So Fine" which are just kind of written off.

The Garden is up there with Estranged for me.

The song, the mood, that music video, having Alice Cooper co-leading the vocals with Shannon Hoon doing backing. Everything is top.

Also Axl did a great justice to the song in that Saskatoon performance.

    1. Shut up already. You and a few others seem to have a bad obsession with this poster, actively seeking them out just to constantly be a bitch. Either they are a troll/fake account like you claim and you're giving them exactly what they want or you're wrong and just a bully.

    2. Some newer fans may not be aware of what happened.

As for the riot, the creepy obsessive fan who was hassling Axl is a loser and probably deserved to be punched but then Axl should've sucked it up and continued the show. And the audience shouldn't act like monkeys, they're responsible for their own actions, they chose to riot.

I don't see the problem with the quality here. It's the look of the times.

Rather have that, than GnR using ugly smudgy upscaling algorithms like many "HD remastered" music videos. Or completely destroy the image and erase the look of the format it was shot on - like Peter Jackson did with Beatles Get Back,.

This might be a bit off-topic but regarding remastered music videos, they didn't put effort to remaster these from the original tapes.

Example: Andy Morahan was never approached for his archives for NovRain, Don't Cry and Estranged.

It seems like they just took the same digitalized vids and 'remastered' them lol

How long will it take GNR to realize most people don’t care about the box set and really only want the Blu-ray?

They know for sure. But they also know that you won't pay so much for a Blu-ray. So they force fans to pay for Boxset to get that shit.

It's all about milking fans with this band. Otherwise they could easily release tons of remastered 80s and 90s shows on Youtube for free. Just like Metallica.

They've had six years (including covid down time)...................... Productivity of this band is incredible! but hey as long as the money rolls in from touring...

It's all up to Axl & nobody else. I repeat, nobody else. Covid can't be blamed.

    1998-2008 = 10 Years
    2008-2016 = 8 Years
    2016-2022 = 6 Years
    Total = 24 Years

24 years and only one album. It was thanks to Universal's pressure that that one album was released. Sanctuary had almost gone bankrupt because of this.

The fact that some still believe in an eventual new release is amazing. Axl is musically impotent.

  6. By putting crap guitars over Buckethead+Robin parts and remixing songs that have already been overmixed, they're butchering unreleased CD material. Absurd and HardSkool's condition was both laughable and heartbreaking.

And talking about newly written tracks. These people are not Bowie or Cohen or David Gilmour with fountains of inspiration and content in their minds. Unlike the 80s, they seem to be disconnected with the reality. Most probably their new lyrics or even music won't amuse me as it'll be fake and pretentious. What's Axl's inspiration to write about? Beta and fam? Tacos?

I'd rather get old albums anniversary boxsets than new music if they want to release new music this way.

The rumour about the letter "M" circulated back in 1992, mainly in relation to a cancelled show in Minneapolis (they did play there later in the year, though, as, of course, they did in Montreal).

Patton/Faith No More later reiterated the rumour in relation to the show in Manchester. However, that show was only postponed for a few days because Axl was still in Paris, so they played eventually.
